Did you know that if the human body is chronically dehydrated, it will take water from your joints and saliva (which can result in dry mouth and subsequent cavities)? Or that lack of sleep (as is the norm for new mothers, shift workers, exam-cramming students, and our seniors that have trouble sleeping) makes your immune system run on high alert all the time? A mouth full of plaque and calculus will further stress a weak immune system.

The CDC reports that the number of diabetics in America has approached 25 million, 10% of the population. An equal amount are diabetic and do not know it, and there are a large group of pre-diabetics. Recent research has indicated that regular deep cleanings can positively influence glycemic control.

There is research that shows poor hygiene is associated with an increased risk of oral cancer. Not many people are aware that after controlling for cigarette smoking, periodontal disease was associated with an increased risk of kidney, lung, blood and pancreatic cancers.

Periodontal infection was reported to be one of the top five causes of chronic systemic inflammation. Chronic inflammation is believed to be the underlying cause of the many age-related diseases, heart disease being number one. Furthermore, gingivitis and periodontitis have been associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes for years. In February of 2010, there was the first documented report linking pregnancy-associated gingivitis with the death of an unborn baby.

Stay away from this "dentist" if you want to keep your teeth!!! Cynthia Morris let my infected tooth sit as she told me "not to touch it", this woman literally yelled at me in her office, telling me that I was doing this to myself. By the time I got to a real dentist, the infection had spread to the tooth in front of it. The Surgeon I started seeing after Cynthia Morris had to pull the tooth because the infection was so bad by then. I lost 2 teeth while in her care for 6 months. All the while she was insisting on "fixing" teeth that were not bothering me. Now the 2 crowns she placed 3 WEEKS AGO are bothering me horribly!!! I went and got a second opinion BEFORE my last visit with this woman because I've learned the hard way not to trust a word she says. I went to the surgeon who had to fix all the problems this woman has ignored, 2 days prior to my last visit to this awful office. The surgeon told me and showed me in the X-rays that her crowns were not placed properly. He explained this is the reason for my discomfort/sensitivity. He told me to go back to her and that she should fix it, that is what he and most dentists would do. Not surprisingly she insisted that she had made no mistake, my crowns that she placed 3 weeks ago are fine, and told me that I need a root canal. Honestly, it was a relief that I'll need them fixed somewhere else. I am terrified of having this woman work on my mouth again, she is rough and has a horrible bedside manner. It's like Saw meets The Dentist. Now, I will be paying a lot of money for a second time to have these 2 crowns placed again, one of which didn't even need to be replaced in the first place. I forgot to mention the office itself... if you miss the mean girls from high school, you are going to love the service here! Do yourself a favor, find a good dentist and stay away from Cynthia Morris!!! My only saving grace for my filing with the Oregon Board of Dentistry is that I had x-rays taken 3 days after she placed these crowns along with an exam from the surgeon. I will be finding out what the Oregon Board thinks on this matter. ZERO stars needs to be an option for "businesses" like this!!!

The quality of care was fine, but... My insurance covered 2 cleanings annually. They decided I should have 3 cleanings annually, so they charged my for 33% of a cleaning every time I came in, which in theory would make the cost of 3 cleanings easier to bear. Problem is, I never actually GOT 3 cleanings annually! I only got two, so I just had to pay almost 100 dollars a visit for cleanings that should have been covered. I was never reimbursed for the hundreds of extra dollars I spent. When I switched dentists, the new doctor said there was no conceivable reason for me to have been on such a schedule anyway. Also, Seabright uses refrigerated water in their cleanings, which is super uncomfortable if you've got sensitive teeth.

I'm not a big fan of dentists in general, but Sea Brite is a dentist that puts you at ease from the minute you walk into the office. Doctor tells it like it is, she gives it to you straight and then you make the decision about when or if you want the dental work done. The front office personnel are really helpful in explaining your bill to you. I trust Sea Brite with my dental needs.
