Refused care to a service member with an authorized referral due to referral not coming from an orthodontist but a primary care manager (doctor) at a Naval Hospital. First, the receptionist kept repeating that all their patients must be seen by an orthodontist and have had been in at least 6 months of splint therapy. (Why???, she stated that is what that office doctor requires) Secondly, when I asked her what splint therapy was the same receptionist could not answer the question and decided to just repeat herself "you must be seen by an orthodontist first". Any one who is not knowledgeable of dental medical terms would not know what splint therapy is. I had to look this up on google and I found that in simplest terms, it is a night guard. I have had 3 night guards in the past 7 years, yet this office STILL required that I be seen by an orthodontist first before they would give me a consult. Even after explaining the extent of medical history regarding my jaw, joint, and migraine pain this office still refused to see me. I simply did not qualify to be seen UNLESS I see an orthodontist first. Furthermore, I explained the reason why I have not... how military medical doc work, my dental history and the immense amount of pain I am in and yet, I was refused care. This office refused care, hired a front desk representative who uses dental medial terms that they are uneducated of explaining, and in moments lacked empathy and compassion.

Showed up 15 min early for a scheduled appointment and there was a sign on the door saying they'd be back at the appointment time. We waited until several minutes past the scheduled time and since no one opened the door we tried to enter and found the door was still locked. Once the door was finally opened we waited for almost another hour to be seen while people who continued to show up for later appointments were seen first. Poor service!
