Update: Dr. Murphy is no longer there. I hear the new fella is friendly. I am sad that they have pulled their advertisment in the Blue Ridge Christian News. It has been a great partnership for many years and showed community involvement as well as provided a great medium to reach thousands of customers for them each month. Hopefully, they will reconsider. Original post: We LOVE Dr. Murphy and his staff! My entire family are patients there. We have a 15 year old and a 23 year old. We all go there and have had great experiences. My 23 year old lived in Colorado for a while and had issues with his teeth. The folks he was seeing out there told him he must get implants but Dr. Murphy's office corrected his problem with much less work and money. Thanks for all you do for our community.

The staff here are unprofessional, disrespectful, and degrading. My fiancee had an appointment for 10am, she had an unexpected death in the family and we called 3 times from 8:30-9am and received no answer. While we were at the hospital they called at 10:06am which we didn't answer because we were dealing with doctors in regards to the family death. The last thing anyone would be worried about at that time is an appointment. Especially when we called 3 times and received no answer. When she called back in the afternoon the receptionist very rudely (after my fiancee explained and obviously struck a nerve by saying no one answered the 3 calls) told her she'd check with the dentist to see if he WANTED to reschedule her. When they were the ones who didn't answer the phone. While waiting in the waiting room the previous day they let several people stand there waiting to be checked in while they spent their time chatting and cackling behind the front desk. Maybe if they'd do their job instead of socializing at work then they would have answered one of the 3 calls. We plan on gladly finding a new dentist and will make sure everyone we know has knowledge of the sorry excuse for professionalism they call a dentist office. The real loser here is the dentist because not only will he continue losing business but his staff are painting him as a fool because they're a direct representation of him and the office.

Very Disappointed . About a month ago I waited for 45 minutes and had to leave they call that a missed appointment. Then I started a new job had to miss because of that. They don't even try to listen. The front Desk worker is always rude.

I've been coming here since I was a child and I've almost always had good experiences. I mainly want to say that Dr. Bates here is just the absolute best dentist I've ever had to pull teeth. I will recommend him time and time again.

Where do I begin here? I was referred to this office because my preferred Dr. in Lenoir had trouble numbing the area that needed work on. He wouldn't go past numbing me 3 times as it was crossing his own comfort level. He referred me to Dr. Murphy because this office offered alternative forms of numbing. Turns out, Dr. Murphy did not find it fit to try an alternative numbing and yet he also had trouble numbing this area by the usual method, just as my Dr. in Lenoir did. He injected the numbing medicine 4-5 times in the same area before he could work on this filling after I explained to him why I was there to begin with. Okay, perfect and fine. However, 4 weeks go by and the right side of my tongue is STILL completely numb AND I cannot eat anything on the right side of my mouth due to sensitivity and soreness. I am thinking "I have nerve issues". Okay. I go back to the Dr. by the end of 5 or 6 weeks of feeling numbness, hoping he will see me and give me some advise as to what is going on. I am sitting there for an hour, only to talk to the nurse and not see the Dr. She was denying the fact that he numbed me 4 times and her advise was to use mouth wash. She gave me 2 sample packets of mouth wash and sent me on the way. That was last July. This is one year later. After that experience, I have been dealing with sensitivity to this filling and after all this time, the Dr.'s office is trying to collect MORE MONEY WHEN I ALREADY PAID IN FULL the bill. The receptionist said that what I paid was simply an estimate of what would be owed. Now ain't that something? The person on the phone was also saying I should have come in sooner and not waited year. Hold on a second, Do you think I wanted anything to do with them after this experience? HECK NO! Heck no, heck no heck no. Not the best experience to say the least. Going to the dentist is hard enough but when you have to deal with an office that is APATHETIC to you and the services they did not provide (basic standard of care), that makes it all the more difficult.

We love Dr. Holt and Dr. Ferguson! The dental hygienists are amazing! My little guy has autism and they are all so kind and patient with him. The receptionists have been so sweet and helpful!

Horrible dentist office! Receptionist is rude and slams the window shut after she is done talking to them. They won't let you schedule appointments while you are there and then never answer the phones when you call! Never taking my children there again!

Excellent dentist that accepts delta dental insurance (one of the only in the area). Making an appointment was easy and quick and came with friendly reminder calls and texts. My first visit was during the height of the COVID pandemic and I was pleased with the precautions in place (masks required, hand sanitizer, temperature checks, etc.). The staff is very friendly and helpful and will treat you with respect. I'd highly recommend this dentist.

BEWARE.!!!..If I could give this place a 0 I would. Took my granddaughter to them since she was 3. They have made ALOT of money from me. My granddaughter had a cavity on a FRONT,PERMANENT tooth. She's 11...Dr.sent her home...said gums were too pink to fix her tooth. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME WE WERE SENT AWAY. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. BEWARE!!!

I cannot say a bad thing about this office or the people that work there. You can tell the minute you walk back in the examing rooms that these people are good Christians. Dr. Bates had to extract 2 teeth and I can say that he was awesome. He made sure that you were good and numb before he started his procedure. It took him less than 20 minutes to numb me and extract my 2 teeth. I recommend anyone to go see this group.

Dr. Scott Murphy is an outstanding dentist . A friend referred me to this practice, and I am happy to say that all staff are professional and friendly, and the office is very clean. I have years of experience in other dentist offices, and Dr. Murphy is by far the best. I needed a crown, and I am so pleased with his work. I highly recommend this dentist.

I had a bad experience in my first visit. The Dr. priorities wasn't the patient He focused about gain more money for the treatment instead to patients satisfaction. Called the next week to his office and his staff very rude to answer the questions. I went for a second opinion to different dentist. The diagnostic was totally different for the first one. I do not recommend Scott Murphy Family Dentristy at all!!!
