Dr. Trout has been a lifelong resident of Muncie, graduating from Muncie Northside High School in 1975. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University in 1979 and Doctor of Dental Surgery from Indiana University in 1983. Since then he has continued his studies, training in post-graduate courses in cad-cam dentistry, implant dentistry, cosmetics, endodontic therapy, periodontal soft-tissue laser and many other general dentistry procedures. Dr. Trout is licensed to practice Dentistry in the State of Indiana, and holds memberships in:American Dental Association,Indiana Dental Association,Academy of CAD/CAM Dentistry.
Dr. Trout opened his private practice in 1983 and moved to his location on West Jackson Street in July 2007. He and his wife, the former Barb Tippenhauer, a Muncie Burris graduate, remain active residents in the Muncie community, where they have 3 grown children.
Dr. Trout is an active member in First Muncie BNI, recently serving as Vice President and currently serving on the Membership Committee. He is also an active member of the Magic City Music Men, Muncies chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. His quartet, SoundAffect, performs all over East Central Indiana and also competes regularly.
Dr. Trouts professional interests include continuing research on the interrelationship of general health and oral health as well as maintaining cutting-edge proficiency in the area of computerized restorative dentistry.

Love the entire office! Everyone is friendly and puts me at ease. I've been going to Dr. Trout for years and have always felt that myself along with my family are in great hands. He's very caring about his patients, along with his staff! A+ all around! Highly recommend!!!

I recently relocated to Muncie. I have horrible anxiety about the dentist. One of those reasons is because I am hard of hearing, I read lips, in the dentist office even before covid, everyone's faces are covered making it very hard to understand what is going on! Some medical professionals do not know how to deal with someone that uses an interpreter- they will talk to the interpreter and not the patient- as if the patient is not capable of understanding. This was not the case. Dr. Trout and his entire staff put me at ease. I felt very comfortable there. They explained EVERY detail of what they were doing and were kind and gentle. I found my dentist! Thanks so much Dr. Trout and staff!

Awesome care! I am a student living 7 hours away from home, and my permanent retainer (put in by an orthodontist several years ago) broke on the weekend. Dr. Trout was nice enough to come in on a Saturday and fix it right away. Would highly recommend this place to anyone needing dental care!

I first came to Dr. Trouts office in August for a consultation. I knew I had extensive damage and neglect to my teeth due to being assaulted and neglected by my previous dentist. I hadn't been to an office in four years because I was so afraid. Dr. Trout and his staff member that has taken care of me, as well as the secretary, are wonderful. They are respectful, to the point, and very thorough. After years my teeth are finally fixed and the work was done with less than half of the pain and discomfort I had been made to feel years previously. Thank you so much Dr. Trout and team! Only given four stars because i initially tried to get in months before, and my appointments kept getting rescheduled.

Within 24 hours I was in and out with a new crown, pain free, and without breaking my wallet. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Many of us experience anxiety over the dentist. I recently moved and needed to choose a new provider. I did some research and decided I would try Dr. Trout's office. It turns out, that was an excellent decision. Every single person on the staff treated me with respect and compassion. And I've never had such a thorough explanation of my dental health/history than the one provided by Dr. Trout. In addition, I never felt uncomfortable or anxious while getting my cleaning. It's of note that I chose to travel a bit in order to try a dentist that I thought would meet my needs as a patient. I feel like I hit the jackpot. Well worth the trip and I'm scheduled for my next visit in 6 months. Dare I say I'm actually looking forward to seeing everyone again. Spectacular dental practice. Highly recommend.

This dentist got me over my fear of dentists. I have had indifferent dentists in the past who were unresponsive to my feedback that a procedure (novacaine injections for example) were painful. Dr. Trout listened to me. He did everything possible to make sure I was comfortable--and he is an excellent dentist. His staff is caring and considerate. He will be my dentist for as long as he is willing!
