I grew up interested in health and wellness, so healthcare was the natural fit for me. After careful consideration, I decided to follow in the footsteps of my father, grandfather, and great-grandfather by attending dental school. Yes, it definitely runs in the family, and my graduationas a fourth-generation dentistwas one of my proudest moments!
Although I would have enjoyed working sidebyside with my dad, whos a general dentist, I was drawn to orthodontics. I love the combination of science and art, working with my hands, and the personal connections that develop throughout treatment.
Being an orthodontist allows me to listen to people as they share their stories. With each encounter,I have the opportunityto be the one person in someones day who really listens and puts that person first. While theyre in my chair, they have my full attention, and I strive to make it a positive experience that makes their day a bit brighter. Those exchanges, what I learn from each person, make me a better orthodontist and a better person.
After graduating from a small high school in northeast Ohio, I couldnt wait to move to Columbus and attend The Ohio State University for my undergraduate studies. I went on to complete my Doctorate of Dental Surgery, Master of Science, and orthodontic residency at Ohio State, as well.
I love continuing education and seek out a varied mix of opportunities. In addition to attending conferences and lectures, Im a member of aSpear Study Club, a group of general dentists and specialists who are committed to joining forces to improve our ability to get great results for patients with complicated cases. I want always to provide leading-edge and creative orthodontic options that result in the fastest, safest, most effective, and most comfortable experience. Postgraduate coursework keeps me current and ensures my patients receive the best care for their situation.
I'm happiest when I'm spending time with my husband, Dan, and our son Jack and daugter Iris! When Im not working, I spend a lot of time running, usually training for a race of some sort. One of my bucket-list wishes is to run a half-marathon in every state: six down, 44 more to go! Dan and I enjoy being outdoors, whether in the woods or on a patio, exploring the city or off hiking somewhere.
I also love everything about food:cooking, eating, and learning about it, and I have a major addiction to podcasts. And when I have the luxury of some free time, I love to settle in with a great book.
Like Dr. Bethany,Im surrounded by a family of dentists. Growing up, I was frequently at my dads side, assisting him as he cared for his orthodontic patients. I was enthralled by the process and seeing, first-hand, how people became happier and more secure as they saw the change in their appearance. My husband, father-in-law, and sister-in-law are also dentists, so we can essentially have our own study club without evenleaving the dinner table ;)
Seeing others grow into themselves, exert confidence, smile more, and be theirbest selves is essentially why I am in this business. Mental and physical healthiness is a topic that receives my daily attention. Scientific research on the brain has demonstated that just the act of smiling can turn a sour mood around... so smiling is not only the reflection of a good mood, its also the catalyst to intiatea good mood!
After high school, I attended picturesqueMiami University in Oxford, where I received my bachelors degree (Go, Redhawks!). Icompleted my Doctorate of Dental Surgeryat the Home of the Buckeyes, The Ohio State University. While at OSU I was honored to receive multiple distinctions and awards and to participate in a variety of organizations.
After dental school, I practiced general dentistry for seven years in Cincinnati. This experience gave me invaluable insight into how to coordinate treatment involving multiple specialists, and how to anticipate the needs of general dentists. Seven years later,along with my husband and identical twin sons,I returned to OSUto pursue orthodontic specialty training and obtaina Master of Science.
Im board certified with the American Board of Orthodontics. This certification shows Ive successfully completed a series of written and oral case-based exams, a distinction held by a only small percentage of orthodontists. In addition to private practice, Im on staff at Nationwide Childrens Hospital, in the craniofacial clinic.
Continuing education is a critical part of my job. I avidly seek out a wide range of courses, and staycurrent on new technologies, materials, and methodologies, so you can receive safe, evidence-based, and efficient treatment.
I grew up in Columbus and am proud to serve my hometown community. Im married to my dental school sweetheart, Steve.We have identical twin sons, Calvin and Elias,who make sure that we are on our toes ;).Our canine companion is Nemo, a mixed-breed rescue dog I picked up while in dental school.
Our family enjoys exploring the local parks and businesses, taking trips, and spending time with family and friends. Like their parents, the kids are budding foodies. Since Ima typical parentof school-age kids, when Im not in the office Im probably in the car on the way to one of the kids events, or actually there, cheering them on!
I love to cook and find that experimenting in the kitchen helps me unwind. Im thankful my family is so forgiving of my culinary mishaps!Im also a big fan of working out, whether Im running, weightlifting, or trying a new yoga pose. After all this activity, I relish my down time with a book, especially reading about psychology, religion, and... surprise... wellness.

I graduated from The South Western Career Academy where I obtained my certificate in dental assisting. My favorite part of my job is watching a patient come in who is shy because of the way their teeth look, and upon completion of treatment, they have become a completely different person, showing the biggest smile and so much confidence that they could conquer the world. It's a great feeling to know that I was part of the process. Our practice is a really fun place and I want all of our patients to be a comfortable as possible when they're in treatment. I love spending time with my husband Josh and our daughter Alivia. We enjoy spending time outdoors and making memories with Alivia.
I graduated from The Ohio State University with my degree in Dental Hygiene and Zoology. Orthodontics has been my passion ever since! I feel so blessed to be part of a profession I love so muchI truly believe that if you love what you do, youll never work a day in your life! My husband Steve and I live on a hobby farm outside Hilliard where we enjoy our dogs, cats, cows and chickens. Someday we hope to raise baby goats! Im originally from Southfield,Michigan and have just moved to the Columbus area from Chicago, Illinois. I am so honored to be a part of the Scioto Orthodontics team! Ive been a dental assistant since 2008 and an orthodontic assistant since 2010. I love making each patient feel comfortable and welcome when they come in for their visits. My favorite thing about orthodontics is seeing the amazing transformations and seeing the color combinations patients pick out! I absolutely love all things Disney (I even worked for the fairy godmother ;). Outside of work, I am busy volunteering for various charity organizations, showing and handling my Australian Shepherd, Primrose, figure skating, dancing, competing in pageants, or exploring Columbus with my boyfriend and better half Nate.
