Dr. David J. Schumer has been providing dental care to families in Elk Grove Village and the surrounding communities since 1984.Dr. Schumer graduated with high distinction from the University of Michigan, and then he attended the University of Illinois, College of Dentistry, where he graduated with honors in 1984. While in dental school, Dr. Schumer was awarded the Best Clinician by Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity, and he was a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon, an honorary dental society.After spending his early childhood living inElk Grove Village, he now resides in Long Grove with his wife, Michelle. Dr. Schumer and Michelle enjoy traveling and spending time with their four children and grandchildren. He is proud and excited to be working side by side with his son, Stefan.
Dr. Stefan M. Schumer graduated from Midwestern University, College of Dentistry in 2016. Previously, he had graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Nutrition Health and then taught physics at Waukegan High School before entering dental school. Stefan enjoys many sports and staying physically active. He worked at the office as a dental assistant for his father on and off during high school and college and is very happy to be returning as a dentist working with his father again.
They have completed advanced continuing education training in all phases of dentistry including implant placement and restoration, Invisalign invisible braces, porcelain veneers, dentures, and cosmetic treatments. Both doctors are members of the American Dental Association, Illinois Stated Dental Society and the Chicago Dental Society.They are dedicated to providing state-of-the-art, comfortable dental care in a friendly office. Each patient is given individual attention and the time to voice their dental concerns. Both doctors will take the time to explain your various treatment options.
Three days a week you will also see Sherie at the front desk. Sherie joined Dr. Schumer in early 2013 when Dr. Alan Shapiro retired and the majority of his patients transferred to seeing Dr. Schumer as their dentist. Sherie had worked with Dr. Shapiro for many years in the same office building as Dr. Schumers previous office.
Alexa and Jackie are dental assistants. They will bring you in and seat you in the dental chair. They also makes sure that everything is clean and sterilized and will assist the doctors during any treatments.

I needed a new dentist after moving into the area and picked Schumer Family Dental Care. I'm so glad I did! They are awesome! Friendly, professional staff that work with you every step of the way. Everything was explained in great detail to me, allowing me to make the best decision on the type of treatment I needed. The prices are very good and they work with you in this are too. I had the absolute best experience I have ever had at the dentist. No pain at all! Before anything was done, I was told what to expect and if I had any discomfort, to say something. They made my fear of dentists go away! I will continue using them and recommend them to anyone who is looking for a dentist.

Good service, on time, price was right. I am a resident of Florida and had a dentist down here. However, I go back to Illinois in the summer and tarted going to Dr. Schumer while I was up there. I have now made him my regular dentist and stopped going to the one in Florida. I am totally confident in Dr Schumer and also I had a crown come off on Satirday morning and Dr Stefan Schumer took me in and re-glued the crown in place. I have not had a problem with that tooth since. Over all I give both Doctors a five star rating. Sincerely, Jon Martin
