For the past 22 years it has been my mission to provide my patients with excellent dental care in a relaxed and comfortable environment. Having faced and overcome many dental challenges while growing up, I possess a first hand knowledge of my patients concerns, as well as the benefits of a healthy, attractive smile. As your dentist, I will treat you with the care, kindness, and respect that I would give my own family. You will be listened to and educated as to what modern dentistry has to offer. As I would love for you to have the very best dentistry possible, I will not push you past the level of care that you desire. I will be considerate of your feelings, wishes, your finances and your precious time! We strive to keep on schedule, but we will take the time to give you exceptional care, because we want you and your family to be lifelong patients.
My personal style is a bit laid back. I don't take myself too seriously. I like to laugh, have fun and help my patients feel at ease. However, I am serious and focused about my dentistry. Growing up in a medical family, (father, a family practice doctor, and mother, a psychiatric nurse and counselor) I understand the need to stay abreast of the latest advancements and be committed to lifelong learning. I am a 1992 graduate of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. I continually take course work in all aspects of dentistry, far exceeding the requirements of state licensure. I am a graduate of the world renowned Dawson Academy for post graduate studies and currently enrolled in the Academy of General Dentistry's 5 year Mastertrack Curriculum, working toward a Masters Degree in General Dentistry.
Having the skills to help a patient obtain comfort, confidence, and greater self esteem is the greatest blessing that being a dentist has to offer As a way of honoring God and His blessings to me, I volunteer twice a month at His Hands Free Medical Clinic serving the less fortunate of the area. I also volunteer at the Iowa Mission of Mercy, an annual statewide effort to help people in dental need.
Outside the office my interests include church, family, nature and fitness. I am a true water lover and enjoy all types of boating and water sports. To stay fit I like to ride my bicycle, cross-country ski and work out at the gym. I have enjoyed riding portions of RABGRAI on several occasions. I also enjoy boating, home renovation, fishing, hiking and camping with my wife and children.

Be aware. They will lie to you. They will charge your insurance company and you both. Dishonest is a trend in the USA and it has to change. Unbelievable how a doctor lies to patients and get away with it.

Was in town visiting family when my crown popped off. Contacted Dr. Schumacher's office Monday morning and was able to get in that afternoon. Staff was very friendly and professional. Tooth was fixed perfectly!

Dr Schumacher's is easily the best dentist i've been to in my life. He's very caring, careful and precise. Easy to talk with and a great doc. They also have gone above and beyond for the covid19 precautions and are handling it perfectly. Couldn't be happier

My son and I have been going to him for several years now. Dr Schumacher and his staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. They have always treated my son and I with dignity, respect, and caring. Unfortunately my dental Insurance has changed and now must go to a different dentist that is on their limited list. I really don't want to! I will miss Dr Schumacher and the staff there. I wish them the best of luck and Godspeed! Than you for everything!!

Receptionist and hygienist were great. Unfortunately, Dr. Shumacher wasn't. First off, he's kind of an intellectual snob and speaks in a condescending tone to his patients. That's not even the bad part. If he were a good dentist, I could tolerate it. This was my first visit, and after x-rays and an exam he told me I had several cavaties and would need several fillings. I played along but found that hard to believe. I went for another opinion. The second dentist told me I had a couple places he could work on if he were being aggressive, but he'd rather have me come back for my next cleaning in 6 mos and take more X-rays to see how things progress....certainly not several fillings needed immediately! Moral of the story: if your insurance pays for fillings, Dr.Shumacher will find cavities to fill. Or at least that is my experience.

He takes Medicaid patients and he and his staff are pleasant and friendly. The quality of care is fine. The only problem I have is with the air quality in the building. It is so heavily perfumed/potpourried in there and I think the reason why is that the air coming in through the vents stinks like sewage. I don't know what's wrong with the building's air quality but my husband is allergic to perfume and I have to shower and wash my clothes after going there. So that's the reason I took off a star to my rating.
