If you need treatment, he can administer local anesthetic with The Wand, which allows you to skip the uncomfortable injection. And for patients with gum disease, he can take care of it non-invasively with laser gum therapy.
Jacksonville is our beloved home, which is why our team dedicates much of our free time to giving back and making it a better place to live for everyone. Dr. Schumacher supports numerous Catholic charities in the area and also teaches/mentors at the University of Florida Dental School. He and our team are also big animal lovers, so we frequently donate to and partner with our local rescue shelters as well.
Dr. Schumacher completed both his undergraduate degree and dental doctorate at the University of Florida. He is also passionate about continuing education, which is why hes a Scholar of the prestigious L.D. Pankey Institute, where the principles of optimal patient care have significantly influenced his own approach to dentistry. He has also participated in Miami Implant Seminars as both a student and a faculty member, regularly mentors dental students at the University of Florida College of Dentistry, and has even been featured in Jacksonville Magazines TOP Dentists since 2013. Today, he is a member of the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, and the American Equilibration Society.
Dr. Schumacher has always believed the overall health of each patient is his priority. Oral health is a function of patient wellness. From addressing oral health issues that can affect cardiological function to dental anxiety impacting your day, taking the time to understand, diagnose and treat with compassionate care is the focus. Dr. Schumacher and his wife have been married for over 35 years, and they have three kids. The oldest two are boy/girl twins! One is a pilot in the United States Navy, while the other is currently attending her second year of dental school at Columbia University. Their youngest son is a website designer. As for personal hobbies, he and his wife play golf every opportunity they get and even like to turn their travels into golf trips when possible. He also enjoys cooking, which is something he picked up while working as a cook in several restaurants through college and dental school.
Originally from Bayou LOurse, LA, Shondas dental career spans nearly two full decades. As one of the first people our patients meet, she loves helping them overcome their dental anxiety and finally achieve the smile theyve always dreamed of.
Away from work, Shonda lives with her hubby, four dogs, and one cat. She enjoys cooking/baking in her spare time and is also extremely passionate about animal rescue. Shonda and her husband are currently working with a rescue group to establish a low-cost mobile vet clinic in her hometown!
A Jacksonville native, Michelle studied at Florida State College at Jacksonville. Today, she has been working in the dental world for over 30 years, with most of that time spent right here at our dental office. She loves caring for our amazing patients! So many of them feel like family.
Michelle is happily married to her high school sweetheart Mike. They have two grown sons named Cody and Chad and two dogs named Cassie and Jackie. Theyre a big baseball family and also love doing outdoor activities like camping, hiking, biking, and canoeing. She stays very active with her church and also recently started learning a new sport pickleball!
Shannon has been working in dentistry for a few years so far, having studied at Florida State College at Jacksonville. Before that, she was enlisted in the Navy for over six years, where she worked with electronics on both the USS Kitty Hawk and the USS Abraham Lincoln. Today, she loves getting to meet and help so many interesting people all day long. Making a different in their lives is always a great feeling!
Shannon and her husband Brian have two kids named Emma and Noah, as well as two fur babies an English Bulldog named Norm and a jerk cat named Kevin. In her spare time, Shannon enjoys being a bit of a geek. She loves Star Trek, Star Wars, and reading books like the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. Of course, her biggest hobby is chasing after her kids in order to keep them entertained and alive.
Kat has been in the dental field for an amazing 40+ years so far, with half of that time spent right here at Dr. Schumachers dental office. She studied at Florida College of Medical and Dental Assistants and completed the dental hygiene program at Florida State College at Jacksonville. Today, what she enjoys most about her position is an easy answer the wonderful patients!
Ashley has been working in oral healthcare for nearly a decade so far, having recently relocated to Jacksonville from Indianapolis. She really enjoys seeing and treating patients for a variety of needs, but being able to give them true peace of mind is always one of her favorite moments of the job.
In her spare time away from work, Ashley enjoys exploring local parks, pubs, beaches, taking spontaneous trips, and cooking. Recently, shes gotten a little obsessed with buying new plants and potting them. She has a dog named Nahla, and shed love to hear about your dog too during your next visit!
