I am blessed to work in a profession that over the course of a couple years can change someones image of themselves so dramatically. Seeing their confidence improve and their personality shinethats what it is all about! We are all connected, and I hope that is some way, our patients experience with us can help them on their journey to success.
The best part of my day is hearing about all the fantastic activities and experiences our patients share with us. Being in small communities like Traverse City and Charlevoix, getting to know our patients and families is really getting to know our town. I love feeling connected to them and their journey. Orthodontics allows me to develop relationships while creating smiles, and thats awesome.
I am passionate about getting better, every day. I try to grow a little daily, to do things differently. Through continuing education, I get to grow professionally as well. I am always looking for ways to make our treatment results better in less time for the maximum patient comfort and benefit. That includes making our orthodontic team the best they can be through education and using the latest clinically-proven techniques for success.
I personally attend the Annual Session of the American Association of Orthodontists in the spring as well as regional seminars in the fall and winter. I frequent continuing education seminars at the University of Michigan as well as local dental education through the Resort District Dental Society.
I grew up in Battle Creek, MI, the third of four children, son of a High School Administrator and Christian Youth Minister. I have lived in Traverse City since 2003. I love living in Northern Michigan for the great community spirit, its natural beauty, and endless activities.
When Im not in the office or at home, my favorite thing to do is downhill skiing with my family in winter. I also like to golf and spend time on the lake in the summer. I love football! In the fall, I am very busy as a football coach for my sons team. Coaching is a great way to share life lessons in a fun environment.
I believe it is important to give back to the community that has given us so much. My team and I encourage our youth to be active scholastically and physically to prepare them for healthy, happy lives. We support many local causes through donation of time and sponsorship, including:

I have the pleasure of meeting patients at the start of treatment. Overseeing the new patient exam, I educate patients and parents about orthodontics, review treatment options, and answer their questions. I am married to the love of my life, Dr. Schulz, and we have three beautiful children, plus a dog and a cat. I love to exercise, especially HIT workouts, and equally love to walk, boat, and camp in Northern Michigan in the summer. Cooking is another passion: I enjoy learning about and experimenting with different cultural foods.
I meet with patients and families as they start the orthodontic journey, reviewing what treatment involves and what they need to do for a successful outcome. In addition to coordinating patient financials, I also work behind the scenes, handling the accounting, insurance claims, and patient accounts. I like meeting people as they begin treatment and seeing how a new smile gives them more confidence!
I have a business degree, as well as an Associates degree in Applied Science, and have worked with Dr. Schulz since 2000. Most of our team has worked together for a long time and weve become a family. We all support one another as we create great smiles!
Ive lived in Traverse City for almost 25 years and have a daughter, Meghan, along with a fur baby, Panda, who is a Great Pyrenees and Border Collie mix. Before settling down in Traverse City, I spent time living in the Middle East and traveling to the far corners of the world. I am a collector of hobbies: my current interests include remodeling my home and gardening projects.

I graduated with honors from the dental hygiene program at Ferris State University in 1989 and joined Schulz Orthodontics in 2003. I am pleased to work with talented, supportive coworkers who share a common goal: to give our patients the best experience and best smiles!
I love working at our front desk, as I get to talk with everyone who comes to the office. In addition to welcoming and checking in patients, I take phone calls, schedule all patient procedures, and make sure everyone feels at home. It is a joy to get to know our patients and their families personally!
As an orthodontic assistant, I perform clinical procedures, assist Dr. Schulz, and take patient records. I like connecting with our patients, seeing each persons progress during treatment, and sharing in their excited, beautiful smiles in the end!
I assist Dr. Schulz with every aspect of putting braces on and making orthodontic adjustments. I also work in the lab, making retainers and assist with cementing several different appliances. I love working with patients and seeing their smiles improve, and I love helping them understand dental hygiene and dental health, too!
I started in the dental field 25 years ago and joined the Schulz Orthodontics team in 2017. Dr. Schulz is the best orthodontist I have worked for in 25 years and I am in awe of the work our team does. Everyone is well-trained, kind, and helpful, caring about each other, and dedicated to our patients!
My best friend and I have been married for 38 years; they still make me laugh every day. We raised two amazing sons and have four incredible grandkids. We have two dogs, Maggie and Hank, who keep us laughing and bring us joy every day, too. I love to quilt, sew, do beadwork, and any and all crafts. I also love to be outside at the lake for bonfires, camping, and rockhounding.
I assist Dr. Schulz during clinical procedures, take records, and provide patient education and experience. I love being part of the amazing transformational process of orthodontics: building relationships and boosting peoples confidence is what its all about!
