Dr. Schrumpf graduated from Ohio State University with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He achieved Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) after successfully completing over 900 hours of quality educational courses and the fellowship examination. Dr. Schrumpf is currently working toward Mastership designation in the AGD.
The doctor has completed post-graduate courses at the esteemed Dawson Center and The Mid Atlantic Center for Advanced Dental Study. He has undergone extensive training in the area of dental implants and their restoration and possesses expertise in Dr. Jack Turbyfills branching techniques used in the fabrication of custom dentures and partials. Dr. Schrumpf has over 30 years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders. He is a member of Dr. Mark Pipers exclusive TMJ Study Club.
Dr. Schrumpf has an in-depth understanding of complex dental needs. Together with a team of specialists and high-quality dental labs, he provides Virginia Beach dental patients with the care and understanding of a true professional.
Dr. Herman hails from Louisville, Kentucky. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Kentucky, followed by his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Louisville in 1982. After graduation, he participated in a one-year general practice residency with the United States Army at Fort Riley, Kansas, where he received advanced training in all major disciplines of dentistry. Dr. Herman then spent four years in Giessen, Germany, in a general practice clinic.
In 1987, Dr. Herman moved to Virginia Beach to pursue missions studies at Regent University. He joined Dr. Schrumpf in his practice in 1989. Here, Dr. Herman has the opportunity to provide our patients with a wide range of services, including root canal therapy, extractions, and restorative treatments. In addition, Dr. Herman provides childrens dentistry services. He offers safe, effective, non-CPAP treatment to our patients who suffer from mild to moderate sleep apnea and have difficulty tolerating a CPAP machine.
Dr. E.B. Santos, Jr., graduated from Xavier University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Sciences having maintained Presidential Scholarship level all four years of attendance. In 2001, he graduated from West Virginia University School of Dentistry, during which he attained a full scholarship for his second year of the program, was president of Delta Sigma Delta dental fraternity during his third year, was bestowed the Organization of Teachers Oral Diagnosis award, and graduated top 10 in his class.
He has been practicing in the local area as a dentist since 2006, and has over twenty years of experience. With much anticipation and excitement, Dr. Santos looks forward to his new business endeavor, owning Santos Dental Health & Wellness. His philosophy encompasses providing all treatment options for each patient with the main focus on the best long-term outcome, and by working with a network of colleagues and specialists to give the absolute best care possible.
Dr. Santos brings a high level of skill and expertise in all facets of general dentistry with emphasis on cosmetic and restorative procedures, surgical placement of dental implants using a guided surgery technique, Invisalign, and use of an oral appliance to aid in treatment of specific sleep disorders. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, and Tidewater Dental Association.
Lauren serves as a patient coordinator in our practice. She has been in the field of dentistry since 2009 and has gained many skills working with Dr. Schrumpf, Dr. Herman, and our entire staff. Lauren looks forward to expanding her knowledge in dentistry and making dental care her long-term career.
Estela oversees patient relations, employee relations, practice accounting and administration. She also is interested in current technology and how it affects procedures today. Her entrepreneur spirit helps keep our practice up to date in the latest technology and current information related to patient care. Being a prior surgical assistant and sedation monitor has given Estela the unique appreciation of patient and doctor perspectives, how they relate to each other, and the procedure expectation.
Her message to patients is that we care, and we want them to be comfortable, open and honest. She wants to hear from them, whether their feedback is positive or negative. She is always interested in ways to improve the lives of our patients and how to best support their needs.
She traveled to many places around the globe before she decided to call Virginia home in 2009. Estela brought a wealth of experience in business administration, insurance and customer relations when she joined our practice. She also has a diversified background in business ownership and extensive experience in contract negotiations.
Annette has been a dental assistant in Virginia Beach since 1990, and she is gifted at making people feel comfortable. She enjoys the creative side of dentistry and how it transforms a persons life by improving their smile. She has a background in design, photography, real estate and massage therapy.
Annette is an animal lover at heart and owns a boxer. When she isnt improving smiles, she enjoys events with family, friends and her daughter, and she loves to travel. She also likes to walk on the beach, exercise, give massages, attend musical concerts, paint and bake.
Robin graduated from the Leone School of Dental Technology in West Babylon, NY in 1986. She enjoys the limitless educational opportunities the dental field provides, which enable her to better provide for our patients.
Outside the office, Robin is dedicated to mentoring programs geared toward middle school students. These opportunities have allowed her to introduce and research future goals that can be met through studies, positive choices and hard work.
Marianne and her husband Don have been married since August 1991. Her spare time activities include traveling with her family. Her favorite vacation spot is the beach, and her hobbies include paper crafts.
She has a daughter, a son-in-law, a golden retriever and two parakeets. When she isnt working, Valerie is a nature nut who loves to be outdoors. She also enjoys dance, music, cooking and watching HGTV.

I was a new patient today and I had Dr. Santos check out and fix my tooth before back surgery. I always felt judged as well for all the work I needed done. I can honestly say this is the first place I've been to in decades that doesn't make you feel bad about anything! I love it here and I'm so happy I picked them to fix my tooth. Couldn't be happier! Thank you so much to everyone at this practice and of course Dr. Santos. You have eased my fear of dentists

I LOVE Dr. Santos! I've recommended him to everyone I know. I went to a dentist before him who judged me for how much work I needed but when I came to Dr. Santos, there was 0 judgement. He also truly takes your input and your wants, needs and life circumstances into consideration! It's just a breath of fresh air compared to what I've dealt with lately. And the staff had been so nice and flexible. I've had no problems at all.

From the time you walk into the office you are greeted with smiles from everyone. Oct.18, I had my dental surgery and it has been a complete successful journey. Dr. Santos and his dental assistants have gone above and beyond to see that I was comfortable and the fittings were perfectly in place. I have leukemia so the healing takes extra time and patience. They assure me every little step of the way. The skill of Dr. Santos and his sculpting abilities are amazing. He takes it very seriously.

Great place. I only wish they take major insurances such as Blue Cross Blue Shield and CIGNA. It's hard on patients and almost forces them to go somewhere else especially when there's major work to be done such as crowns etc.... Regular cleaning fees are not so bad but even this forces the customers to have to pay in advance because when it's out of network, most insurances pay the customer not the the clinic itself. With this said, customer has to pay the clinic in advance . Wish this place would consider and be part of BCBS and CIGNA network. No matter how good the place is but if it forces customers to pay out of pocket on every visit, they won't last as customers.

First time patient and I have never had such a comprehensive exam. Everyone was so thorough and professional and I felt very comfortable with their care. Dr. Herman was great and explained everything to me. I highly recommend this dental office.

Called on Monday to let them know my child was sick due to being exposed to COVID over the weekend and my appointment was Tuesday morning. Was dang near reprimanded for not being able to make my appointment the next day and spoken to in a passive aggressive and very condescending way by Brittany. I would never talk to a patient or client in that way, especially for something out of their control.

My dental hygiene appointment was yesterday and it couldn't have been better. Taylor was very gentle and thorough. She took care of me and listened to my concerns. I highly recommend this dentist office.

Dr. Herman and staff are just WONDERFUL! Saying I don't like going to the dentist is an understatement! After years of not having been to any dentist, we recently moved to Virginia from the midwest and I decided it was necessary to find a dentist. My husband called and explained to the very understanding staff that I was nervous and don't like going to the dentist. The staff were all incredibly kind and asked questions about my comfortability level during all my visits. Dr. Herman was SO patient and kind! He explained EVERYTHING and I have never had a medical professional take the time to do that. He made sure I understood what he was doing and what he was seeing, as well as my asking about my comfort level. I felt cared for personally and I also felt like he was interested in making sure I was ok with the amount of physical discomfort or awkwardness of having your mouth worked on. Highly recommend their practice!

Now called Santos Dental Health & Wellness Inc. I called to have the $100 fee removed for not canceling an appointment within 48 hours but did so in 24 hours due to having tested positive for COVID. The office manager refused to remove the charge stating office policy. The fact that they were notified that I tested positive should have been understood. I am being penalized for coming down with the virus 24 hours before my appointment and not canceling in 48 when I didn't test positive. How am I supposed to know that I was going to have COVID! In these trying times when COVID is running how we live day to day how is it that THIS practice REFUSES to work with their patients and hold them accountable for something beyond their control is beyond comprehension. From my own experience in working in the medical field for 15 years, charges such as a missed appointment could be removed if they cared enough about the situation and patient. In the case it seems that SANTOS DENTAL HEALTH & WELLNESS INC. case more about lining their pockets than their patients.

I was going to wait but honestly I'm so blown away Schrumpf & Herman Family Dentistry is amazing. My kids even love it there (4 & 7). We are a military family and so grateful to have found a place we can all go. I was allowed back with my children and stayed with them the whole time. They do have a treasure box which is a big deal to my kids. My new patient exam was the most thorough I have ever had. I felt extremely comfortable and never once did I feel like the process was rushed. My cleaning which is a separate appointment was great! She took her time and made sure I felt comfortable the whole time. The office staff has been working us in on cancellations so we don't have to wait long since we have a flexible schedule and are leaving the area soon. Honestly they are all extremely nice and so helpful.

I've had some canceled appointments and because of that I was told to "find another dentist" which is fine. There is a policy in place and it has to be followed but, the unprofessional manner in which I was handled is actually BENEATH the service that I have received while using this dentistry. ESTELLA the office manager doesn't deserve her position. If you can't talk to people in a professional way, then this isn't the job for you. Even if I was allowed to make another appointment, I wouldn't because of her!!!!!!

Dr. Herman is a great dentist very sweet and patient however the office staff member ESTELA KOONTZ was very rude to me and disrespectful I advised her I need to post pone my procedure due to my mothers death she responded via email " is this due to a death or your plastic surgery in June " I responded I would like to speak to the doctor or someone in management she blocked my email immediately I then called and was told they don't know when the doctor will ever call me back after that my number no longer worked when I called them I emailed from my new email advised if I don't speak with thw doctor I will make a complaint I get a response that I will not be able to talk to the doctor bc he has nothing to do with the issue I have very unprofessional and rude! She had to have violated my right to know what surgery I was getting bc I never advised her I was getting plastics surgery or anyone in the office I was getting it in June
