Not to mention that dentistry is often presented to children as frightening and painful in their favorite shows and movies (just look at the scenes that take place in a dental office in Finding Nemo, for example).
These negative opinions of going to the dentist often persist well into adulthood, and affect lifetime dental care habits, willingness to get regular cleanings, and overall comfort level with dental care.
FYSH School gives kids a positive start with dental care. Theyll learn about dental health and form a positive view of visiting the dentist. Theyll see how caring for their teeth is not only important, but fun!
Every parent wants their child to learn good oral hygiene habits and have a healthy smile for years to come. We can help! Join our FYSH School event. We provide educational, interactive, and fun activities for kids to become comfortable with the dentist and learn age-appropriate information about taking care of their teeth.
You can purchase preventative and cosmetic health products right in our dental practice. Every time you make a purchase, we donate a dollar to a local non-profit support program for at-risk members of our community.
This program at the Hope Institute provides oral health care and dental care to special needs patients. The proceeds of your purchase go towards a comprehensive dental clinic, full-time dentist, and care provider education.

Sometimes, your oral health might not be the first thing on your mind. You might have other challenges you need to take care of first. We understand that, so the first thing we do is listen to you. How are you feeling? Whats important to you right now?
Dentistry can have a huge impact on protecting you from other diseases, especially when we care for your gums. The teeth tend to get all the headlines, but your gums are a very important part of your body. Your gum health doesnt just affect the health of your teeth but also the rest of your body. So we look at your gums and soft tissue next.
Good nutrition and the ability to chew go together. Your bite function is a critical part of your health, because we all need to eat to be healthy! So, during each exam, well check your bite and look for issues related to chewing.
Youd be surprised how often a minor adjustment to bite can completely change a patients ability to chew and be healthy. For example, because of discomfort caused by an improper bite, a patient might avoid certain foods. A small, painless adjustment can make a real difference.
Some people think dentists just want to get in there, look at the teeth, and do some drilling. But we know that a drill is the least powerful tool we have. Theres so much more we can do to help you keep your teeth without picking up a drill.
Thats why looking at your teeth comes last. Yes, we are a dental practice. It might seem odd that we look at your teeth last, but helping you keep your teeth requires that we consider a lot more than just the teeth alone. Your teeth stay healthy if the rest of you is healthy. So, to help make your teeth last, we look at your whole health, and then create a care plan for your mouth last, after we understand the big picture. Its the best way to keep those teeth healthy.

I've I suffered from crippling dental anxiety since childhood. I don't know what else to say but, Excellent experience!! The assistant Seager is a newer addition to Schon Dental, but you would never know it by his performance or demeanor. He was very professional, and interactive. Just a real pleasure to work with! Dr Crawford is okay too! Kidding! He is always thorough and addresses any and all questions I may have. A great dental experience, for this scaredy cat ... Thanks to Schon! You're all awesome!!!

The world needs to stop! Just so we can really appreciate a place that we all do not like to go to AKA -The Dentist. Why appreciate it? Because when you have a caring fun loving Doctor like Mr.Crawford, I have never felt so comfortable and safe as i have at Schone Dental in Chatham,IL. This is not coming from a women perspective because i am a man, and we all break down at the dentist. Not this time!!! At Schon Dental in Chatham,IL Dr.Crawford and his crew are the real deal. Everyone in the office is smiling and they have a reason to be cause the work this man does and his crew is amazing . Im not the type to leave reviews but when I scheduled my dental cleaning and actually asked him is there anything else i need to get done, I had to leave this review. My daughter had an appointment with Dr. Crawford and his assistant was Hayden. This was her first time being seen here. We had the best experience! They were both beyond great! Dr. Crawford was so thorough especially at explaining things to me. I appreciated being able to leave there feeling like I actually knew what was going on because he took the time to make sure I knew all the ins and outs. Most of our time was obviously spent with the assistant as he had to do X-rays etc. Hayden was wonderful! He made the anxiousness my daughter subside by just being him. Joking, carrying on conversations, just being completely relatable. He made us feel like family. We hands down had the best dental experience we've ever had!

The visit was quick and efficient. Consult was unambiguous, clearly laying out the next steps. The oral surgeon I was referred to hasn't yet responded however.

I used to live five minutes away from them, I recently moved almost 40 minutes away from them, but I won't be switching dentists! I absolutely recommend them to all of my co-workers due to their knowledge, patience, understanding, and acceptance. I have never had a bad experience here and don't think I ever will. They are always so nice! Even though I only see them once every six months, they still remember me and are sure to ask how life is treating me. Can't imagine a better dentist! Thank you for all you do!

Schon Dental always does an amazing job! Their friendly staff is always happy to see their patients. It's always a great touch too when you're not supposed to see the doctor, but he stopped by to say hello in passing! This place has done an amazing job during the pandemic and how they care for their patients! When my four year old says she loves going to the dentist, you know you've found the right provider, for not just her, but for a whole family!

Dr. Crawford was FANTASTIC with my 4 year old daughter who had an accident at school. This was her first dental visit and she was very apprehensive. Dr. Crawford and his team were extremely patient with my baby and gave this nervous momma some peace of mind. I'd highly recommend Dr. Crawford if you're looking for a great Dentist!

This was my fifth visit and was very pleased with the friendlines of the office personnel. They were very prompt to have me back in their work area at the actual time of my scheduled appointment. I Would Strongly recommend Schon Dental to all who are looking for a professional but friendly Dental Experience!! Total the used a Cavatron(?) for my cleaning and OH MY, what a positive experience vs. the old pick and scratch mode. A++-+

I visited Schon Dental office on today. My experience was awesome. I was cordially greeted upon my arrival. My procedures with Dr. Crawford went well. I had a tooth extracted and a crown placed.
