Dr. Gilpatrick (G.P.) Schmidtke a native of Appleton and graduate of Xavier High School, completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Notre Dame in 1993 with a BA in Pre-Professional Studies and Psychology. He obtained his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Marquette University in 1997, graduating cum laude and earning membership in the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental academic fraternity. Dr. Schmidtke then earned his post-doctoral Masters degree and completed his certification in orthodontics from Marquette University in 1999. He immediately joined his father in practice, Dr. Gilbert Schmidtke, where they had the opportunity to work together for 12 years before his fathers retirement.

Dr. Schmidtke has been a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics (board certified) since 2006 and is a member of the Angle Society of Orthodontists. He is also an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Wisconsin Society of Orthodontists, the Wisconsin Dental Association, and the Outagamie County Dental Association.

Dr. Schmidtke is married to Katie and they have two wonderful boys, Jack and Phillip. When not straightening teeth, Dr. Schmidtke enjoys playing golf, exercise and fitness, sporting events, and enjoying time with family and friends.

In 1974, I graduated from Marquette University School of Dentistry with a Masters Degree in Orthodontics. I opened a practice on the north side of Appleton, at that time at the edge of the city. Of course, I had no idea how things would go. But, thank God, I was blessed to meet and help so many wonderful children and parents!

Its almost impossible to express how much I enjoyed working with my great staff to give smiles to the kids and adults of Appleton. I only wish I could have done it forever! However, my son has the same vision and passion! I am thankful that he continues to create smiles for patients to enjoy for a lifetime!

Like several of our Schmidtke Team, Abby is the newest to sport a Schmidtke Smile! As our patient, Abby was undergoing adult orthodontics and expressed a love for the dental field. She now can appreciate both aspects of provider and patient and applies that throughout her work day. Abbys caring demeanor and gentle manner are the qualities our patients love about her!

Jill recently joined us in 2015, bringing with her several years of experience after graduating from NWTC. Her favorite part of her career is the awesome team she works with. Everyone is very fun and dedicated to their profession, and knows just how to make Jill smile!

Growing up Kara always had a natural affinity to care for people. After experiencing orthodontics she realized the dental field would best suit that need. Our patients often say she makes orthodontics fun with her outgoing and energetic personality.

Kim has been with our office since 2011 when she graduated with her dental assisting degree. Her favorite part of her career is seeing a patient go from being apprehensive at the beginning of treatment to happy and confident whenthey see their end results. Kim workswell with the rest of the team and always tries her best to make our patients happy.

Kris graduated from Fox Valley Technical College in 1993 and joined Schmidtke Orthodontics in 2001. She enjoys the one-on-one time she gets to spend with each patient, and loves getting to know them. Kris appreciates working with a team that is dedicated to their profession and really cares about our patients.

Kris and her husband Billhave two children, Megan and Ian. The things she enjoys the most are spending time together as a family, going on vacations, and baseball games. Kris also enjoys spending time reading and creating memories with her friends and children.

Krysti has been a part of Schmidtke Orthodontics since 1997, and has more than 35 years of experience in orthodontics under her belt. She loves the personal interactions with patients and getting to know each unique individual.

Krysti and her husband Don havefive children, Donny and his wife Angela, Margaret and her husband Nick, Kathleen, Monica, and Thomas. She also enjoys spending time with hergrandchildren. Krysti enjoys scoringpower boat racing most weekends in the summer. Her sons participate as racers and the family helps out as pit crews!

You will begin your orthodontic treatment with our Records Technician, Maddy. She will take your digital x-rays, intraoral scans and photographs. Maddy graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelors degree in Biology & Society. Maddy has a love and appreciation for dentistry as her father is a local dentist, this and her role at Schmidtke Orthodontics has prompted Maddy to continue her education and apply to dental school.

Searra joined our team as an orthodontic assistant after graduating the Dental Assisting Program at FVTC in 2016. While assisting Dr. Schmidtke she enjoys learning aspects of treatment and working with a fun helpful team.

Searra grew up on the south shore of Lake Superior near Bayfield, WI. She moved to Appleton to attend school at FVTC and has enjoyed many new friendships and likes everything outdoors from music festivals to snowboarding.

As a teenager, Jolene was offered an after-school job by her brother-in-law, Dr. Gilbert Schmidtke. His love for orthodontics was highly contagious and she soon wanted to make a career in this field. Jolene enjoys the interaction with our patients and their families. To her, watching the transformation of not only the teeth but also the patients self-confidence is amazing.

Paula joined our team in 2016 after experiencing Schmidtke Orthodontics from a parents point of view. Her three children Trevor, Teagan and Talyn are wearing Schmidtke smiles with pride. As our Treatment Coordinator, Paula is your first introduction into our office, working with Dr. Schmidtke at our New Patient exams. Her expert skills will assist you in understanding the treatment plan, orthodontic investment and insurance filing process.

Paula grew up in the Chicagoland area as well as South Korea. In 2008, Paula, her husband and three children relocated to Appleton to enjoy the beautiful outdoor opportunities in Wisconsin. Spending quality time with her family is Paulas biggest priority as the entire family is very involved with the Appleton North Girls Basketball team.
