I first observed how powerful and transforming orthodontics can be in peoples lives through the work of a family friend who was an orthodontist in my hometown of DeKalb, Illinois (IL). I was inspired to become anorthodontistmyself after watching him create beautiful and healthy smiles for his patients.
I attended theUniversity of Illinois at Urbana-Champaignand received a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering with Distinction in 1999. After working for several years as a research engineer in the aerospace industry with low observables (stealth technology), I went back to school and received a D.D.S from theUniversity of Illinois at Chicago, College of Dentistry. During my time at the College of Dentistry, I was honored to receive the highest awards for academic excellence conferred upon a student by both theIllinois State Dental SocietyandChicago Dental Society. Following graduation from dental school, I attended a three year residency at theUniversity of Illinois at Chicagoand received a specialty certificate in Orthodontics and an M.S. degree in Oral Science.
I grew up with three older brothers, one of whom is my identical twin and works as an optometrist. I live in North Barrington, and when I am not working, I enjoy doing Crossfit to stay in shape, as well as watching sci-fi movies and White Sox games during the baseball season.

I am from out of state and they were able to get me in on extremely short notice for a retainer issue. Extremely friendly staff & amazing atmosphere. Highly recommend for all of your orthodontics needs!

Absolutely love Dr. Schmidt. She does excellent work, is so kind and caring. I got my braces off several years ago and still return to her to have my retainer updated. My teeth are staying where they should be. It's always so nice to walk into the office, the staff is so friendly and welcoming. I honestly can not say enough about Dr. Schmidt and the office, highly recommend them.

At the age of 59, I guess my vanity kicked in and I decided to see Dr. Schmidt about straightening me teeth. My wife and 4 kids had all been patients of Dr. Schmidt over the years, all with wonderful outcomes, so I finally decided it was my turn. Two years later, I've completed my Invisalign treatment plan and couldn't be happier with the results. My only regret was not having done this 20-30 years earlier. Dr. Schmidt and her great team are so welcoming yet professional - I actually looked forward to my ortho visits. I highly recommend Dr. Schmidt and her team for any of your orthodontic needs. And let me add, it's never too late to invest in your smile!

We had the most incredible experience at this office! Their staff was always so helpful and friendly. This is our fifth child through braces and this was by far the most wonderful experience of all! They made it so easy and they are so great what they do! I highly recommend this group!

Schmidt Ortho is a wonderful practice with an amazing team!! Both my son and daughter went there and both of their cases were tough ones. Start to finish, Dr. Schmidt and her team provided us with the best care!! Both of my kids loved going and loved the staff. They made going to the ortho and having braces fun for them! They both have beautiful smiles now and are so happy! In addition, I understand how hard it can be to get people on the schedule last minute or have emergency situations come in, etc...The Schmidt staff made it so accommodating and always worked around our crazy schedule! I really can't say enough good things about them. Thank you for making it so easy for us and for doing such an amazing job with my kids smiles! I am truly grateful!

I highly recommend Schmidt orthodontics!!!!! My 14 year old daughter has been going there since beginning her treatment at the age of 8. Not only did Dr. Schmidt work magic to perfect her smile, but the office staff made us feel like family. Together they make the most amazing team! Now my son has begun treatment as well and we would not have gone anywhere else!
