Schieck Dental is locally owned and operated by Dr. Joel Schieck. Dr. Schieck has been in practice since 1981. He relocated to Austin in 1990 and in 2010 he moved the practice to a brand new, contemporary building. The office is designed to enhance patient comfort and provide you and your loved ones with state-of-the-art care.
Dr. Schieck began his career practicing in the Valley of the Sun, in both Phoenix and Scottsdale from 1981-1990. In September of 1990, he opened his office in Austin, formerly the office of Dr. Dale Mlinar. Throughout the years he has welcomed new patients, while adding the offices of Dr. Donovan Clausen (1994) and Dr. Charles Schindler (1996) upon their retirement from private practice.
An Austin native, Dr. Schieck graduated from Austin H.S. in 1973. In 1977, he received his B.A. from Luther College and his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Minnesota in 1980. Dr. Schieck makes every effort to remain current in his field and annually takes continuing education courses. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Austin Dental Society, and has provided care for the Donated Dental Services program for years.
Dr. Schieck is active in the Austin community. He is a graduate of the Blandin Community Leadership program and has served on the Boards of the Chamber of Commerce, Austin Public Education Foundation, Austin Athletic Hall of Fame, Austin Rotary Club, Mower County Health, and both Austin Youth Basketball and Austin Youth Football. Dr. Schieck was recognized by the Austin School District for his efforts and participation in the successful renovations of the Wescott Athletic Complex, a project which benefits the entire community. He and his wife, Pearl, have three sons, two daughters-in-law, two grandsons and three granddaughters.
Dr. Tucker Schieck is an Austin native who graduated from AHS in 2003. He then went on to complete his undergraduate studies at Carleton College, earning a B.A. in 2007. After trying out multiple career paths, Dr. Schieck decided on dentistry and returned to school. He completed his dental studies at the University of Minnesota and graduated in 2018 with his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree.
Dr. Schieck joined his father in dental practice July of 2018 and took over in June of 2021. He is a member of the Minnesota Dental Association (MDA), the American Dental Association (ADA), and works with Donated Dental Services. Dr. Schieck continues to be involved with continuing education opportunities in order to stay current and provide quality service to his patients and community.
Jenny has been Dr. Schiecks chairside assistant since 2003. Jenny does a fabulous job of making your visit as comfortable as possible. Her kindness and gentleness are always on display. Jennys previous 12 years of experience as a cosmetologist is evident in her personal service and attention to detail.
Julia joined our staff as a hygienist in 2010. Julia was born in England and lived there until her family moved to Albert Lea in her early teens. That early background and having traveled across the U.S. with her husbands work, gives Julia a refreshing perspective. Her energy, enthusiasm, hygiene knowledge, and outstanding skills are a wonderful connect and comfort to her patients.
Megan joined our office in 2018 working at the front desk she is also a dental assistant and helps out in patient care when shes needed. Megan has had a passion for the dental field for years and is happy to be working in the Austin community.
Heather is an Austin native and has been in dentistry since 2001. After graduating from Charlotte Technical College in Florida, she worked in numerous dental offices in the south, until recently moving back to Minnesota to be closer to her grandbabies. Heathers favorite part of dentistry is helping people smile their brightest.
Brooke and her family live near Adams, Minnesota. She has been serving patients as a Dental Hygienist for over 5 years, joining the Schieck Dental Team in 2019. Brooke offers patient education and assists patients in maintaining total oral health. She finds her job very rewarding and enjoys seeing someones smile improve in health and visibility.
Gusty has been a practicing dental hygienist for almost 6 years, joining the Schieck Dental team in May of 2021. You will find that shes able to put patients at ease and ensure a positive dental experience. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their dog, Ivy. They keep busy gardening, baking, hiking and keeping up their acreage outside of Stacyville, Iowa.
