Following twenty-two years of practicing in the small eastern Colorado town of Yuma and six years as the on-site dentist for the employees of Woodward, Inc., Dr. Schaffner established Schaffner Family Dental in January, 2017. He feels honored to have had most of his Woodward patients follow him to his new private practice. The practice continues to grow through word-of-mouth referrals.
As owner of the only dental practice in Yuma, Colorado, Dr. Schaffner gained valuable experience in all aspects of general dentistry. He enjoys treating patients of all ages. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Schaffner served as the consulting/treating dentist at long-term care facilities in northeastern Colorado. Although most patient dental care is completed in our office, Dr. Schaffner feels blessed to practice in a community with outstanding dental specialists to whom he refers for specialty dental care as needed.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Schaffner most enjoys spending time with his wife (Liz), his three daughters (Brielle, BrookLynn and Janie) and his son-in-law (Matt). When time allows, he likes mountain get-aways and other travel. He is actively involved in Valley Christian Church of Loveland where he serves as an Elder.
Our highly skilled dental hygienists, Lori, Irene, and Januari have over seventy-five years of combined dental hygiene experience. They provide exceptional quality routine preventive dental care as well as a number of treatments for periodontal (gum) disease. They are thorough and gentle and strive to help our patients achieve outstanding oral health.
Lori has been with Schaffner Family Dental since 2020 and has been a hygienist in Fort Collins for 30 years. She graduated from Colorado Northwest Community College in 1991. A Fort Collins native, Lori enjoys camping with her husband of 30 years and three boys. In addition, she spends many hours watching her younger two sons compete in cross country and track at Western Colorado University. Lori spends her free time volunteering at Bible Study Fellowship and her local church.
Irene is originally from Eastern Europe and has lived in Colorado for over 30 years. She graduated from the University of Colorado Dental School with a Dental Hygiene degree in 1993 and has been with Dr. Schaffner since 2017. Irene is very passionate about dentistry and providing the best care possible to her patients. She and her husband have raised two sons and now, being emptynesters, love taking long walks with their dog and travel in their free time.
Januari joined our practice in 2020. She enjoys building relationships with our patients. Januari takes pride in educating patients and helping them achieve healthy smiles. When Januari is not at work you will find her spending time with her husband and children. Her two kids are very active in sports and keep her busy. She enjoys being outside riding her bike and walking her dogs. Januari is a Colorado Native and was a patient of Dr. Schaffner's as a child.
Dr. Schaffners wife, Liz, works behind the scenes to keep the office running smoothly. She is in charge of payroll and other office management responsibilities. Liz worked in dental offices for a number of years prior to meeting Dr. Schaffner, but was still brave enough to marry a dentist!
Lisa has been working in the dental field for 27 years. Her favorite part of her position is helping patients. She has been at Schaffner Family Dental since May of 2018. During her free time, Lisa enjoys walking her dog, and loves to go kayaking and just being with her family and friends.
Andrea has been in the dental field for 6 years, she started as a dental assistant but found administration was the better fit. Her favorite part of her job is getting to know the patients and making them feel welcome. She is a Colorado native who likes going on hikes, fishing, the movies, and hanging out with her teenage kids.

BrookLynn was not quite sure what she wanted to do when she graduated from Fossil Ridge high school in 2019, so she trained on the job to become a dental assistant. She loves being able to work alongside and learn from her father. She also loves being able to make her patients feel confident and comfortable with their own smiles. She is currently taking prerequisite courses at Front Range Community College with the hopes of becoming a dental hygienist. She looks forward to the path ahead of her and creating more personal relationships with her patients!
