Today, SBNC provides care to 1 in 10 people in the community and has been serving the community for over 52 years. Over 22,000 patients are cared for at four medical clinics, two dental clinics, an integrated care clinic, a bridge clinic for substance use disorders and health promotion services with Wellness Navigators.
Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics (SBNC) was formed in 1998, when three existing medical clinics that had provided care to low-income patients since the 1970s merged into one entity. The Isla Vista Health Projects opened in 1970, followed shortly by the Carrillo Clinic (originally the Freedom Clinic) in 1971, and the Westside Clinic in 1973.
All the clinics shared a common belief in providing medical services for families regardless of their ability to pay, and were created on the philosophy that obtaining quality medical care is a fundamental right for all people. More than that, each of the clinics is, and has been an intrinsic part of its community and neighborhood. Because of their close relationships with the surrounding community and awareness of their neighborhoods special needs, a strong bond of trust has been formed between patients and each of our clinics.
In 2014, Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics was designated a Federally-Qualified Health Center by the federal government, in order to expand services to Goleta, where thousands did not have access to a primary care provider. A new dental and medical clinic opened in their permanent locations in 2015 to meet the needs of the Goleta community.
Today, SBNC consists of 4 medical clinics, 2 dental clinics, an integrated care clinic, a bridge clinic and health promotion services. We are a critical health safety net for Santa Barbara County and provide care to over 20,000 unduplicated patients a year.
Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics receives HHS (Health and Human Services) funding and has Federal PHS (Public Health Service) deemed status with respect to certain health or health-related claims, including medical malpractice claims, for itself and its covered individuals.

I cannot believe this place the worst customer service ever i have never been treated so poorly they should be closed down. No one there cares for patients just another state run clinic to get funding to line there pockets. Run the other way from these vampires!!!!

Please notice most 1 star reviews were a year or more ago ..now for mine: About 2 hours ago I received my first ever root canal. I'm actually terrified of dentist and this fear exacerbates pain, so I was proud of myself for showing up. But my teeth are very important to me and I have been trying to get work done on this back area for over two years. With my insurance all anyone else would do was clean them, x-ray them, and send me out the door in more pain and no better condition. This dentist actually saved my tooth. And I'm not in terrible pain. She was so considerate of my comfort , her and the hygienist who said it was her 7th year working there. I never even imagined my tooth could be saved.....thank you! Thank you so much! Virtual hug!!

Had an appointment at 5pm for my son wasn't seen until an hour an a half later !!!! A WASTE OF TIME dental assistant takes my son into the back comes out 5 minutes later to tell me he can't be seen because of MINOR cough staff needs to step up there game and have more communication with parents and patients they should have mentioned this to me when I CALLED TO MAKE THE APPOINTMENT!! Bad service very disappointed!!! DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

I made an appointment stating I needed a route canal right away. I get in and am told I will have to wait 1.5 months for said appointment. What was the point in having me come in today then? Simple I am a poor teacher, so screw me. And boom I feel quite screwed.
