Save Dentists, Inc. was started by an independent dentist who saw that the practice environment dictated by the evolving marketplace was unsatisfactory for many of his friends, classmates, and colleagues. This independent dentist decided to team with dental business experts, with substantial dental practice consulting experience and are business faculty members at leading universities, to try and create a solution.
While no magic solution revealed itself, the analysis made one need clear, the need to increase independent dental practice profits. Collectively independent practitioners have faced years of stagnant earnings and increased competition from 'corporate' practices. Independent practitioners were reporting dissatisfaction with their careers and were pessimistic about the future of dental care. Something needed to change or the traditional independent practice, where decisions are made by dentists about their practice operations, faced virtual extinction.
We thought that in order to thrive, the independent dentist needed a way to obtain pricing on the products needed to operate a successful practice that were discounted like those that the 'corporate' practices can obtain due to their size. With similar pricing to those of 'corporate' practices on the necessities of practice operations, we all believed that independent practices could succeed even when faced with such tough competition.
