Alabama Medicaid is a program that pays for routine dental care for the children of Alabama under the age of 21 years, as long as the child is eligible for full Medicaid. Most children are no longer eligible after their 19th birthday unless they qualify for another category. Adults age 21 and older are not eligible for dental coverage through Medicaid.

More than a million Alabama residents each year qualify for full or partial Medicaid coverage. To qualify for Alabama Medicaid, applicants must meet and provide proof of income, meet age requirements, fill out forms correctly and turn in a completed application to the correct office or worker.

Alabama Medicaid dental services must be provided by or under the supervision of licensed dentists enrolled as Medicaid dental providers. Routine procedures involving the teeth covered* by Medicaid include:

  • Limited outpatient and inpatient hospitalization coverage for adults with dental problems exacerbating medical conditions (the dental procedures themselves are not covered, only facility and anesthesia services)
  • Orthodontic services considered medically necessary for children with cleft lip/palate and/or other severe facial and cranial abnormalities, and who are served through Childrens Rehabilitation Services
  • ALL Kids is a low-cost health care coverage program for children under age of 19 years. Benefits include regular checkups and immunizations, sick child doctor visits, prescriptions, vision and dental care, hospitalization, mental health and substance abuse services, and much more.

ALL Kids uses Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama (BCBSAL) to provide services through their preferred provider network. If your child is approved, coverage will begin on the first day of the month after the application is received.

Income eligibility determination can only be made when a complete application is received by ALL Kids. Please note, even if your income falls outside of the below guidelines, you may still be eligible for coverage the only way to know for sure is to apply.

  • The PPO network is a group of doctors, dentists, pharmacies, hospitals and outpatient facilities enrolled as BCBSAL providers to offer services to ALL Kids enrollees at special, prearranged rates. There is no deductible when you use a PPO provider. Some services may require a small copay.
  • A copay is a small fee you may have to pay up front when your child sees the providers. Depending on which coverage bracket your child qualifies for, some services may require a copay. Your copays are determined by the ALL Kids fee group your child is in. There are no copays for preventive services like regular check-ups, immunizations, dental cleanings and vision exams.
  • You can choose any doctor who is enrolled as a BCBSAL PPO provider. To find a preferred provider in Alabama, you can look in your ALL Kids Preferred Provider Directory, call the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama dedicated customer service number, 1.800.760.6851, or visit Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama.

I called to get an appointment for my daughter's in June they said there was no openings till October.. and they canceled they said won't have available spots till NEXT YEAR.. I have already asked off from BOTH my jobs to get my daughters teeth checked. One of them keeps complaining about her tooth the receptionist was very rude. So frustrating..

If you are able to see Miss Connie, you will be greatly rewarded with an awesome experience!! My granddaughter was SUPER nervous but Miss Connie calmed her fears and knew just what to do. You can see that she really cares about the children I was also impressed with the patient and caring dentist (I can't remember his name) But he was awesome too!!

They treated my daughter so well. All of the staff are polite and really know how to make small children comfortable in their office. I was able to go back for my daughter's teeth cleaning, but wasn't able to for her crown and filling, but that was totally fine. She did so well with them and it was her very first visit. The Dentist came out and explained everything to me. I'm big on informed consent for any procedures and pick drs based on that. I really like the dentist here, very professional. I highly recommend this place. They accept medicaid as well which is a huge plus.

Going above and beyond would be an understatement for this entire team. I have never seen a team go so far out of their way to help their patients. To say they deserve this review would be an understatement. I have been going to this clinic since I can remember. The staff they have now is Amazing!!!! I have never ever in my whole life been to a place that cares this much about their patients!!! I could literally name all the staff by name and list everything that's great about them. I've been to several appointments before I agreed to give them a review I should have just went with my gut and did it the first time but there staff is truly amazing!!!!!! I'm 18 and I can be a really harsh critic and I feel like I'm surround by friends and family when I walk in. They all ask me how I've been and go out of their way to ask about my job and small things! I can't stress how great this place is. Words can't describe it either but if you ever had any doubts this should clear them up. Definitely a 10 out of 10b

Recently had my first experience at Sarrell Dental and it definitely won't be my last. My son was a little behind on his dental exams due to COVID so when he was seen for his exam he ended up needing some work done. They gave me the option to do it that day due to a cancellation. It was great since I wouldn't have to take off another day at work. Dr. Ross and staff were extremely friendly and efficient. I look forward to using Sarrell for my son and daughter's dentist in the future.

Very SLOW service. Receptionist has a very dry attitude. Appointments were at 9, my child d is not get seen until 10. They made me complete previously completed paperwork (also did not mention this on the phone when making appointment). Patients were over scheduled.

First off, they took us in on short notice when no other dentist would attempt to work us in. The staff was kind and professional. My daughter is terrified of going to the dentist and the pain sometimes associated with them but they were all able to keep her calm, make the visit fun, and even make her smile all while doing an extraction! At the end of the visit she (8 year old) stated "They are the best dentist ever!" Very very very pleased with them and they will be my first call in the future! Dr. Ross was quick and gentle. If you have a child who is afraid of dentists or if you yourself are afraid... do yourself a favor and go here! Also saw several people leaving who were happy and smiling after their appointment so clearly excellence is in their nature! Additionally, the pricing was fair and reasonable! The office was clean and sanitary with safety precautions in place! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

Very unprofessional company all around. Use to go to the one in Dothan. They called me to confirm my son's appointment and ran his insurance. Alright fine. Got there the next day for my son's appointment only to be told his insurance is not valid. I called the insurance company and told them what was happening and they said my insurance was fine. The only thing the dentist could do was try to take 300 dollars for a visit because my son's insurance was not going through. So I tried the office in Enterprise a year later. Had an appointment for both of my kids for 730 am. Showed up the doors were unlocked so we walked in. Tried to get someone's attention because we could hear talking no body bothered to even check the doors to see if someone walked in. No bell or anything. Some one could have walked in on them and hurt them just saying. Finally at 8 we got paper work to fill out. were handed new masks, understand, and waited. My husband went back with our daughter and our son went back by himself. An hour and a half later we are home with both kids clean teeth. We had another appointment scheduled the next week for removal of two baby teeth for my son. We were not consulted about the day or time. It was for 1 pm on the 12th written on a card. The day before the appointment they called and said the appointment was for 1230. my card still says 1. She was really rude to me. She stated that we needed the extra 30 minutes to fill out paper work. You mean the paperwork we just filled out a week ago. Oh well you have to do it every six months, but I was there a week ago. My husband took our son to the appointment. I showed up a little later due to work. I showed at 1235. I finished the paper work at 1240 and was told to just hold on to it and they would call him back at 1. So I really had an appointment for 1 not 1230. They took him back at 115 and was done by 130. But to have someone wait for an hour just because they have to fill out paper work that they filled out the week before is stupid. I wish I had more options for dentists that took my kids insurance. This place is not good. Also, they had no clue why my son was even there. We had to tell them why he was there.

This was a pleasant experience all around. Front desk was warm and welcoming. The assistant Haley was very friendly and kind. Dr.White was amazing. I felt no pain and she was extremely kind. I would give 0 stars if I could. Most of the time you can't even get them to answer the phone. I made an appointment for my daughter, showed up on time and they wouldn't see her. They gave her appointment to someone else because they said they called to confirm and nobody answered. No one ever called! So she missed school and I missed work and they refused to keep our appointment. She needs urgent dental care but they do not care! Have absolutely zero compassion or care! Do not take your child here!!!

I had an appointment for my child and missed the confirmation call. I showed up and they took her anyways. I also love the new dentist here. He answered all of my questions and was very nice!
