Alabama Medicaid is a program that pays for routine dental care for the children of Alabama under the age of 21 years, as long as the child is eligible for full Medicaid. Most children are no longer eligible after their 19th birthday unless they qualify for another category. Adults age 21 and older are not eligible for dental coverage through Medicaid.

More than a million Alabama residents each year qualify for full or partial Medicaid coverage. To qualify for Alabama Medicaid, applicants must meet and provide proof of income, meet age requirements, fill out forms correctly and turn in a completed application to the correct office or worker.

Alabama Medicaid dental services must be provided by or under the supervision of licensed dentists enrolled as Medicaid dental providers. Routine procedures involving the teeth covered* by Medicaid include:

  • Limited outpatient and inpatient hospitalization coverage for adults with dental problems exacerbating medical conditions (the dental procedures themselves are not covered, only facility and anesthesia services)
  • Orthodontic services considered medically necessary for children with cleft lip/palate and/or other severe facial and cranial abnormalities, and who are served through Childrens Rehabilitation Services
  • ALL Kids is a low-cost health care coverage program for children under age of 19 years. Benefits include regular checkups and immunizations, sick child doctor visits, prescriptions, vision and dental care, hospitalization, mental health and substance abuse services, and much more.

ALL Kids uses Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama (BCBSAL) to provide services through their preferred provider network. If your child is approved, coverage will begin on the first day of the month after the application is received.

Income eligibility determination can only be made when a complete application is received by ALL Kids. Please note, even if your income falls outside of the below guidelines, you may still be eligible for coverage the only way to know for sure is to apply.

  • The PPO network is a group of doctors, dentists, pharmacies, hospitals and outpatient facilities enrolled as BCBSAL providers to offer services to ALL Kids enrollees at special, prearranged rates. There is no deductible when you use a PPO provider. Some services may require a small copay.
  • A copay is a small fee you may have to pay up front when your child sees the providers. Depending on which coverage bracket your child qualifies for, some services may require a copay. Your copays are determined by the ALL Kids fee group your child is in. There are no copays for preventive services like regular check-ups, immunizations, dental cleanings and vision exams.
  • You can choose any doctor who is enrolled as a BCBSAL PPO provider. To find a preferred provider in Alabama, you can look in your ALL Kids Preferred Provider Directory, call the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama dedicated customer service number, 1.800.760.6851, or visit Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama.

Not a good experience. They run their practice like it's a factory and is not personable. If you bring multiple kids for their appointments, you cannot go back with them. So, they encourage you to bring two adults so one can stay the lobby which is inconvenient. You can't book your next appointment yourself. They auto book it for you and it's hard to change within the same time frame. Overall, I would try going somewhere else.

I had an appointment scheduled for my daughter 6 months out. I received a call the day before her appointment to confirm she was going to be there at 2:30PM. I stated no, she had an appointment at 12:45PM. The lady on the phone said the doctor had to "move some patients around." I asked why she was calling to inform me the day prior and she lied by saying she tried to call me 7 days ago. I have no missed call from that number. And when asked why she didn't leave a voicemail she said "they are not allowed to leave a voicemail if we don't answer." I work in healthcare and understand things come up, but this situation was handled very unprofessionally. Do not go here if you are on the fence about deciding to use this office. I heard bad things about this dental office, but I still was going to give them a chance because they were the only office willing to accept my daughter at a young age in Dothan. I will be driving all the way to Montgomery to see a pediatric dentist that treats me professionally

They the most I don't know people in the worl every question I asked the answer was I don't know. Then they want your children to go back there with random people without you accompanying them. Like the whole experience just weird. I definitely will be looking for a new dentist

Your front desk lady needs some serious training on how to speak to people. She told me flat out it was my fault my child had his first cavity yet they keep scheduling us a year out and she first scheduled us during covid. I did a pretty good job as a mom considering you guys have every excuse to put these kids a year off just for a cleaning or emergency and he's 12. She's been nasty every single year and I think she's confident because it's over the phone and not to a parent's face. Highly suggest you guys review her phone calls that are "allegedly" recorded. A matter of fact it's common sense to be polite and helpful working somewhere kids go. We will take our petty medicaid/all kids somewhere else since these types of kids don't matter it's fine. That's what you guys probably hope we do.

Waited six months for an appointment. They called a few weeks ago and verified the appointment, then told me I would have to confirm the day before, also. They wanted to know if my kids eye exams could be done at the same time, and I agreed. Then they called back the day before the appointment, and said there wasn't a dentist in the office, but they could still do the eye exams. I rescheduled both appointments instead, because the dental cleaning was the priority. So a few weeks later, they call to confirm the appointment, again. Today, the day before the appointment, I get a call at 2:40 saying the appointments were never confirmed, so they were cancelled. If the confirmation has to be made before 2, why even call me at 2:40? I doubt they will even have a dentist there tomorrow. Something definitely not right about this.

This place is an absolute joke! First off, I scheduled my 3 kids appointments MONTHS ago because that it the only way to get an appointment at this sorry excuse for a business. So, they call me last week to confirm my appointment, that they changed to just over a month sooner because their dentist won't be in office on the day of my actual appointment. So I accepted the appointment change because it's sooner to get them seen and they told me if I couldn't make this appointment I'd have to wait til NEXT FEBRUARY to have them seen!! Then they called me yesterday morning, 24 hours before this appointment to again confirm that I would be bringing them, and I confirmed. Now I get there today for the appointment just to be told that my kids can't be seen because the dentist isn't there and hasn't been there for a WEEK because she has been sick with a fever. SO THEY RESCHEDULED MY APPOINTMENT WHILE SHE WAS APPARENTLY ALREADY SICK, THEN CONFIRMED MY APPOINTMENT THE DAY BEFORE WHILE SHE WAS SICK AND THEN TURN ME AWAY THE DAY OF THE APPOINTMENT BECAUSE SHE IS OUT SICK. TELL ME HOW THIS MAKES ANY SENSE!? To top it off when I said all that to the front desk lady, she had the audacity to ROLL HER EYES at me. THIS BUSINESS IS A JOKE. THEIR EMPLOYEES ARE RUDE. THIS PLACE RECENTLY CHANGED IT'S NAME FROM Sarrell Dental to Advantage Dental+, probably because so many complaints on the previous name, yet they didn't get rid of the problem, which is their sorry EMPLOYEES. I wouldn't recommend this Dentist to anyone. If you can take your children ANYWHERE else, I highly recommend not wasting your time with this horrible company.

I have called multiple times today to make a appointment for my son and no one wants to answer the phone. I have left messages and submitted a online appointment thing.

Everyone was so kind and patient with me and my 2 rowdy kids. My oldest is 5 and autistic, youngest is 2. Dr. White was my kids dentists today and I can't remember the hygienist name, but they were absolutely incredible with my children. they were very understanding about my oldest son's special needs and we were comforting to my kids and me when we were having a hard time. Definitely recommend!!! My 2 year old wants to be a "teeth doctor" now

I hear negative things about this dentistry all the time, but I think they were really nice! Mrs Chrissie (I might have spelled it wrong), was super great with my son! She made it really comfortable for such a tough situation, especially since it had been quite a while since my son had seen a dentist.

Discrimination- was told my wife needed to prove she in on the birth certificate, but since I'm his birth mother I can bring him in without it. We are legally married and it's all public record. Don't recommend.
