Alabama Medicaid is a program that pays for routine dental care for the children of Alabama under the age of 21 years, as long as the child is eligible for full Medicaid. Most children are no longer eligible after their 19th birthday unless they qualify for another category. Adults age 21 and older are not eligible for dental coverage through Medicaid.

More than a million Alabama residents each year qualify for full or partial Medicaid coverage. To qualify for Alabama Medicaid, applicants must meet and provide proof of income, meet age requirements, fill out forms correctly and turn in a completed application to the correct office or worker.

Alabama Medicaid dental services must be provided by or under the supervision of licensed dentists enrolled as Medicaid dental providers. Routine procedures involving the teeth covered* by Medicaid include:

  • Limited outpatient and inpatient hospitalization coverage for adults with dental problems exacerbating medical conditions (the dental procedures themselves are not covered, only facility and anesthesia services)
  • Orthodontic services considered medically necessary for children with cleft lip/palate and/or other severe facial and cranial abnormalities, and who are served through Childrens Rehabilitation Services
  • ALL Kids is a low-cost health care coverage program for children under age of 19 years. Benefits include regular checkups and immunizations, sick child doctor visits, prescriptions, vision and dental care, hospitalization, mental health and substance abuse services, and much more.

ALL Kids uses Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama (BCBSAL) to provide services through their preferred provider network. If your child is approved, coverage will begin on the first day of the month after the application is received.

Income eligibility determination can only be made when a complete application is received by ALL Kids. Please note, even if your income falls outside of the below guidelines, you may still be eligible for coverage the only way to know for sure is to apply.

  • The PPO network is a group of doctors, dentists, pharmacies, hospitals and outpatient facilities enrolled as BCBSAL providers to offer services to ALL Kids enrollees at special, prearranged rates. There is no deductible when you use a PPO provider. Some services may require a small copay.
  • A copay is a small fee you may have to pay up front when your child sees the providers. Depending on which coverage bracket your child qualifies for, some services may require a copay. Your copays are determined by the ALL Kids fee group your child is in. There are no copays for preventive services like regular check-ups, immunizations, dental cleanings and vision exams.
  • You can choose any doctor who is enrolled as a BCBSAL PPO provider. To find a preferred provider in Alabama, you can look in your ALL Kids Preferred Provider Directory, call the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama dedicated customer service number, 1.800.760.6851, or visit Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama.

We are improving the oral health of all by expanding access, affordability and having a greater focus on preventing dental disease rather than just treating it. We are so very glad we switched to this Dentistry! They made us feel at home. They went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and informed! They work around your schedule and they call if any appointments cancel! We are thoroughly pleased with everyone we have came in contact with so far! They answered every question that me if my daughter had. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a dentist!

My first visit was absolutely wonderful. The receptionist was very kind and all other staff was courteous and very professional. My daughter went back by herself to get her teeth cleaned and the dentist made it a point to introduce herself and say hello to me. I also liked the fact that I could fill out the paperwork online and bring it with me to the appointment.

I had a less than pleasant experience. I took my grandson yesterday, to have a tooth pulled. The assistant was great, but the actual dentist I found to be very condescending. I felt like she made my grandson feel very unwelcome, while she proceeded to tell me how terribly he acted on his prior visit, and that if he didn't do better yesterday, he would have to be seen somewhere else. He's 10 years old! Of course, he's nervous. Don't get me started on the safety lessons! I just think if you're gonna work in any pediatric medical field, you should really practice patience, and understanding with your clientele. The rooms are old and uninviting and the stuffing was falling out of the chair. I swapped my kids YEARS ago when it was Sorrell, and it was the best decision.

The older lady is very rude and disrespectful if your gonna complain about paperwork being done maybe y'all shouldn't ask us to fill out 25 pages of the same questions over and over. I will no go there again

Mrs.Dorris is beyond the best employee Sarell Dental has. My daughter was scheduled months out and she did her best to get her in on the next available cancellation. She is absolutely fabulous and the staff always does a great job with my daughter(eyes & dental). She is always comfortable and they keep her laughing. Thanks guys

Sarrell Dental and Eye Center truly is a hidden gem in Clanton. I took my oldest daughter for the first time today, and was very happy with the environment and the staff. I am switching both of my babies as of today. The staff are professional, but also they are caring. They also take Medicaid and All Kids. I would recommend Sarrell Dental and Eye Center to all parents with children for their dental and eye care needs. Don't wait to call and set up your child's first appointment. You won't regret it!

Staff is super nice!!! Every time I have been there never had an issue. My son hurt his finger as he was getting off the vehicle, and they offered Tylenol and an ice pack to help his pain, so grateful for that !!!!!! Due to Covid I wasn't able to go in for his procedure, but when he came out, he said everybody was nice and comforting!
