Alabama Medicaid is a program that pays for routine dental care for the children of Alabama under the age of 21 years, as long as the child is eligible for full Medicaid. Most children are no longer eligible after their 19th birthday unless they qualify for another category. Adults age 21 and older are not eligible for dental coverage through Medicaid.

More than a million Alabama residents each year qualify for full or partial Medicaid coverage. To qualify for Alabama Medicaid, applicants must meet and provide proof of income, meet age requirements, fill out forms correctly and turn in a completed application to the correct office or worker.

Alabama Medicaid dental services must be provided by or under the supervision of licensed dentists enrolled as Medicaid dental providers. Routine procedures involving the teeth covered* by Medicaid include:

  • Limited outpatient and inpatient hospitalization coverage for adults with dental problems exacerbating medical conditions (the dental procedures themselves are not covered, only facility and anesthesia services)
  • Orthodontic services considered medically necessary for children with cleft lip/palate and/or other severe facial and cranial abnormalities, and who are served through Childrens Rehabilitation Services
  • ALL Kids is a low-cost health care coverage program for children under age of 19 years. Benefits include regular checkups and immunizations, sick child doctor visits, prescriptions, vision and dental care, hospitalization, mental health and substance abuse services, and much more.

ALL Kids uses Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama (BCBSAL) to provide services through their preferred provider network. If your child is approved, coverage will begin on the first day of the month after the application is received.

Income eligibility determination can only be made when a complete application is received by ALL Kids. Please note, even if your income falls outside of the below guidelines, you may still be eligible for coverage the only way to know for sure is to apply.

  • The PPO network is a group of doctors, dentists, pharmacies, hospitals and outpatient facilities enrolled as BCBSAL providers to offer services to ALL Kids enrollees at special, prearranged rates. There is no deductible when you use a PPO provider. Some services may require a small copay.
  • A copay is a small fee you may have to pay up front when your child sees the providers. Depending on which coverage bracket your child qualifies for, some services may require a copay. Your copays are determined by the ALL Kids fee group your child is in. There are no copays for preventive services like regular check-ups, immunizations, dental cleanings and vision exams.
  • You can choose any doctor who is enrolled as a BCBSAL PPO provider. To find a preferred provider in Alabama, you can look in your ALL Kids Preferred Provider Directory, call the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama dedicated customer service number, 1.800.760.6851, or visit Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama.

We are improving the oral health of all by expanding access, affordability and having a greater focus on preventing dental disease rather than just treating it. Oral health is the health of your mouth and everything in it, including teeth, gums, throat and the bones around the mouth. My daughter has been going here a couple years and the people that work there are pretty great. I think it's important to have courteous and prompt help especially at a dentist's office where it can be a stressful situation. Thank you for all you do.

(Translated by Google) It is terrible and moreover the receptionist is very arrogant, how is it possible that a 3-year-old child has to enter his appointment as an adult, I called to make an appointment for my 3-year-old child and they told me that the day of the appointment the child must to enter the rooms alone, adults cannot enter. The receptionist told me and if you do not agree you can go to another dentist and avoid problems, they are supposed to be professionals how can you treat your patients like this (Original) Es pesimo y mas la recepcionista es muy prepotente , como es posible que un nino de 3 anos tenga que entrar si adulto a su cita , llame para hacer cita para mi nino de 3 anos y me dijeron que el dia de la cita el nino deve de entrar solo a los cuartos , los adultos no pueden entrar. La recepcionista me dijo y si usted no esta de acuerdo puede ir con otro dentista y evitamos de problemas , se supone que son profecionales como puede tratar a sus pacientes asi

My daughter had the worst experience ever. They pulled her tooth before her pain medications took affect. Then they she was impatient. They told me she couldn't be seen there anymore on account of this. I think it is because we are white.

My 3 year old was so excited to go to the dentist. Then we added her first eye appointment at the last minute and we both became nervous lol. She walked out of the eye appointment and whispered, "I like the eye doctor" AFTER he dilated her eyes. The staff were professional and personable with all who came in the office. This was such an easy visit. Thank you guys!

We absolutely love Sarrell . All 3 of my kids go to the dentist here and they are so great with them. Even my youngest one who's 4 absolutely loves it. They are so calm and patient with them. Everyone is so friendly I haven't met anyone here who wasn't as nice as possible. They are also very informative and explain everything!! Highly recommend if you when small kids.

Dentist is very friendly and so is the staff. Started using them after going to a Madison City pediatric office with not a great experience. Better prices than most pediatric offices. My kids feel like they are cared about, always leave there happy and not afraid. My 8 year old son got a crown for a chipped baby tooth. We were in and out in less than 45min, the very next day from when he chipped it. He didn't even realize he had a shot.

I am new to the area and had no luck finding a pediatric dentist for my youngest that was accepting new patients & accepted my insurance. I was leary because they let me know that, due to covid, I could not go in with myself then 4 year old. I prepared him and he understood why mom couldn't come in with him. I became more leary when we arrived. The office is dilapidated from the outside. I called to let them know I had arrived and a "nurse" comes out and instructs me to move closer to the front of the building although I could see the front door and probably would only save her 6 steps. The "nurse" goes inside and I have to call again and wait for her to come back outside. I'm given paperwork and have to call again. Once they come to get my son, the "nurse" couldn't understand that she'd have to open the door for a 4 year old (normally he'd hop out but he doesn't know this lady or this building). My son was in there 20 minutes and I was given no explanation as to what was done or the condition of his teeth. I tried to get him to tell me but it's hard to get detail from a 4 year old. Weeks later I get an invoice for a routine cleaning (keep in mind my husband, oldest son and I have already gotten routine cleanings completely covered & I've checked my benefits). I have had to call twice and haven't gotten a response yet because billing is handled out of my TN. I believe this office accepts Medicaid and with that you oftentimes get staff that could care less because they assume patients don't have the means to go elsewhere. That's not the case for us so that is my first/last time coming.

We went in to have my eight year old's tooth pulled. And mind you my daughter isn't easy to deal with when it comes to shots, pain, being scared lol nothing. And when I tell you Dr. Bradee was a angel, she was absolutely amazing with my daughter. She was extremely patient, caring, loving, and comforting. We couldn't have asked for a better Dentist. I highly recommend Dr. Bradee, I had to just give her a hug after because of how wonderful she was. It's obvious she loves her job and cares about her patients.
