Alabama Medicaid is a program that pays for routine dental care for the children of Alabama under the age of 21 years, as long as the child is eligible for full Medicaid. Most children are no longer eligible after their 19th birthday unless they qualify for another category. Adults age 21 and older are not eligible for dental coverage through Medicaid.
More than a million Alabama residents each year qualify for full or partial Medicaid coverage. To qualify for Alabama Medicaid, applicants must meet and provide proof of income, meet age requirements, fill out forms correctly and turn in a completed application to the correct office or worker.
Alabama Medicaid dental services must be provided by or under the supervision of licensed dentists enrolled as Medicaid dental providers. Routine procedures involving the teeth covered* by Medicaid include:
ALL Kids is a low-cost health care coverage program for children under age of 19 years. Benefits include regular checkups and immunizations, sick child doctor visits, prescriptions, vision and dental care, hospitalization, mental health and substance abuse services, and much more.
ALL Kids uses Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama (BCBSAL) to provide services through their preferred provider network. If your child is approved, coverage will begin on the first day of the month after the application is received.
Income eligibility determination can only be made when a complete application is received by ALL Kids. Please note, even if your income falls outside of the below guidelines, you may still be eligible for coverage the only way to know for sure is to apply.

Dr Walsh and Dr Tennyson are the best! Both took great care of my son! Sharon was their assistant and she is amazing! They were all very informative, patient and kind!

What started as an absolute horrible experience was turned around thanks to an angel at Sarrell Dental. I have taken my 4 children to this office for several years now. We have NEVER had an issue. I understand due to covid regulations policies have changed-etc. My youngest son has never been away from me for any type of doctor/ dentist visit. He is also non verbal on the autism spectrum. I have never been asked to allow him to come back without me. He turned 3 a few weeks ago. As we were waiting in the lobby, a woman came in and called his name. I of course stand up to go back with him as I have always done. She immediately stops me and says, "you are not allowed to come back with him. He has to go alone." I have always had great things about this office until this moment. I responded telling her I was not comfortable letting him go without me. She responded very aggressively with "FINE!" And aggressively closed the door. I just stood there in tears at the thought of what just happened. As I was standing there in disbelief, I could here her behind the door telling another employee, "ugh we see one yearolds and two yearolds all the time." I was 100% ready to take my kids and never step foot back in this place. A place that I have loved and bragged on for years. Then, just at my breaking point, Paula, a worker here came out. She was calm, patient, and understanding. She reassured me that he would be fine and she would stay with him. She also told me if he didn't do well she would bring him back. I'm not sure the lady's name who was so incredibly rude and insensitive, but she has very dark curly hair. I would completely avoid her if you come to this office. Paula was an angel. A complete angel. She held my baby's hand when I couldn't. She went out of her way to make sure I was okay with what was happening. I think with this job if you do not have a nurturing spirit, you should NOT be working with children. PERIOD.

I've always had a fear of dentists and the whole process of any dental procedure, but I came in to get a crown and even though I was terrified Sharon and Dr Tennyson were really supportive and patient with my panic attacks and they made me feel relaxed! I will definitely be changing from the dentist I've used for years to Sarrell cause they are the BEST hands down. If they can keep this "old woman " from jumping up and running then they really do deserve my praise! Plus the rest of the girls are GREAT too! Very friendly, helpful, and always willing to answer any questions that may come up. This is really a great place for kids or adults to go!! Love all of you!

My first visit at Sarrell Dental and Eye of Alex City was the best dental experience ever! Pita was extremely informative, patient and kind throughout my entire visit! Dr. Tennyson was amazing as well! He educated me on ways to improve my smile and oral health! I would definitely recommend Sarrell Dental and Eye for all of your dental and optical needs!

This was my first time visiting Sarrell Dental as I was needing an appointment on a Friday. I was a little anxious at first since I have always gone to a dentist in Auburn, but they aren't open on Fridays. When I arrived the front desk staff was very nice and Paula did an AMAZING job cleaning my teeth!!! She was very thorough, thoughtful, and caring and really loves what she does! She is hands down one of the best hygienist to ever clean my teeth. The dentist was also very friendly and I appreciate you all! Thanks so much!

My 4 year old and I went in this afternoon on emergency and they got us in asap. The whole staff was great and Sharon was so amazing with my son. She answered all of his crazy 4 year old questions and was so patient with him. We love Sarrell!
