Dr. Fabiani and Dr. Karp are graduates of the University of Florida. Both are currently Fellows in the Academy of General Dentistry, and are active members of the West Coast Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, Sarasota County Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. They also belong to the Academy of General Dentistry and University of Florida College of Dentistry Alumni and Friends, and continue their education on the newest dental techniques in order to offer the most advanced dental care available anywhere.
Dr. Douglas R. Fabiani is from Clearwater, Florida. He is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Human Nutrition. He was accepted early into dental school. After earning his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from The University of Florida College of Dentistry in 2000, he was accepted into a General Practice Residency program at the VA Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. In 2001, after completing his residency, he and Dr. Karp began their practice in Sarasota. He has completed well over 1000 hours of continuing education and has received his Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry. The Fellowship award is presented to dentists who seek to provide the highest quality of dental care by remaining current in their profession He is an active member of the American Dental Association, West Coast Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, Sarasota County Dental Association and International College of Oral Implantology. He is also a graduate of the Misch International Implant Institute.
He served 4 years for the Sarasota County Dental Association and was President. Currently he is involved with the West coast District Dental Association as an Alternate Delegate to the Florida Dental Association. He also serves on the Academy of Alumni and Friends Board with the UF College of Dentistry.
Continuing education is very important in keeping up with the latest techniques and advances in order to provide the best possible dental care available anywhere. He has attended many conferences and conventions locally and internationally on topics such as implantology, esthetic dentistry, pediactric care, geriatric dental care, restorative materials, and prosthodontic treatment.
Dr. Lance A. Karp was born in New York City and lived there until his family moved to Coral Springs, Florida. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Florida. After dental school he successfully completed a residency program in Advanced Dentistry at Shands Hospital in Gainesville. Afterwards he moved to Sarasota where he and Dr. Douglas Fabiani have practiced since 2001.
While in Sarasota, Dr. Karp has become an acitve member of many organizations including the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, West Coast Dental Association, and Sarasota County Dental Association. He also serves as President for the Board of Directors for the Police Athletic League of Sarasota.
Dr. Karp believes strongly in distinguishing himself professionally through quality continuing education. He has recently completed the extensive requirements for achieving Fellowship status in the Academy of General Dentistry. Such additional education allows us to provide the latest techniques and advances in dentistry to our patients.
Our in office laboratory technician has over 10 years of prosthodontic experience. He has been with us for 8 of those years and is dedicated to achieving the finest results using only the best materials that are available.

I fell while playing Saturday golf and broke my two front teeth. Dr. Fabiani came in immediately on Saturday to give me temporary front teeth and then permanent ones later in the week. With his talent, the replaced teeth look better than the originals. His willingness to come into the office on a Saturday to help me and make me look presentable was over the top and I'm very thankful for him helping me during a very difficult time. And most of all, his care in making the caps on the front teeth look better than the originals are greatly appreciated. I would recommend him to anyone needing a dentist.

Dr Fabiani is a fantastic dentist! He fixed my broken front tooth in a matter of hours. I went from looking like a jack o'lantern to having a perfect smile! He has state-of-the art equipment so he was able to not only design the crown from a digital scan but also to make the crown in his office. I am extremely grateful to Dr Fabiani and his excellent staff.

To be clear, this is not a review of any dental services provided by this practice, but rather their billing ethics - I have called yesterday in hopes of becoming a new patient since their dental work reviews sound phenomenal, but quickly realized the billing and dealing with insurance situation would become a nightmare as apparently they, as the intermediary, have nothing to do with it! You, the patient, need to find out exactly what is going to be done during the visit and then what your insurance will or will not cover and how much of it - I understand that the patient is ultimately responsible for any outstanding charges not covered by insurance, but I've NEVER HEARD of a practice not even willing to assist and inform the patient of estimated insurance coverage for services to be performed - in fact, the person I've talked to on the phone didn't even care what insurance I have as "it's my responsibility to check whether they're in my network or not" - which I did btw, and they are, but just asked if they could confirm. Also, they do not accept any X-rays or anything from your previous dentist, so anything you had done recently somewhere else that insurance only covers every few years (i.e. certain Xrays), you'll definitely have to pay for out of pocket! Very disappointed - did not expect that from such highly rated practice!
