Dr. Pitarra chose dentistry as her career because the combination of art and science keeps the work interesting every day! She also really enjoys the strong work/life balance, which allows her to spend lots of time with her loved ones while also giving patients the attention they deserve.
Dr. Pitarra and her husband Jason have three children named Sam, Preston, and Camilla! Outside of the dental office, you can usually find her hanging out with her family, hunting, fishing, going on long runs, and practicing yoga.
Dr. Amy Vela has been practicing dentistry for over 12 years, and she says that her favorite part of her job is interacting with her patients and helping them change their lives for the better. For her, nothing is more fulfilling than seeing someone radiate with renewed confidence after she has given them a beautiful smile. Dr. Vela was drawn to dentistry because she saw that it would give her the opportunity to truly help people and make her community a healthier place. She also loves to educate people to make a lasting, positive impact on their lives. Plus, dentistry is unique within the healthcare field, as it allows for a good balance between work, family, and social life.
Dr. Vela received her Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, and then she earned her dental degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Following graduation, she dedicated herself to being a lifelong learner so she could always offer her patients the best and most up-to-date care. So, every year, she completes several hours of continuing education and attends numerous conferences, meetings, and lectures to grow and refine her skillset. To date, she has trained to offer minimal sedation, Invisalign, and soft tissue laser therapy. She also maintains memberships in the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, and the Nueces Valley District Dental Society.
Dr. Vela has been married to Eric for 12 years, and they have 3 beautiful children, Mia, Matthew, and Maddie. Most of her weekends are dedicated to keeping up with her kids and attending their sporting events, but sometimes, they all enjoy getting away and visiting the beach or their ranch.

BEST DENTAL OFFICE ever!!! Dr. Pitarra genuinely cares about her patients. She listens, is highly professional, and very warm. The front staff is very welcoming. The dental hygienists ask questions, are kind and professional. I trust this office.

The staff is beyond friendly and detail oriented from check in to cleaning. Dr Pitarra is extremely knowledgeable, down to earth, caring and wants the best for her patients. They use all of the updated technology and you leave feeling like you've been well taken care of. I highly recommend Dr Pitarra and her team for all of your dental needs!!

I have had most of my dental work done by Military dentists. I have terrible teeth to begin with - for this reason- I never go to the dentist. I don't want the lecture. That said- I broke a tooth the other day and I reluctantly went to see Dr Pitarra. Her whole team from the front desk- to the hygienist - to the tech- to the Dr herself- EVERYONE was so kind. Zero lecture. Just got in and took care of business. Due to this environment, I will for sure be making my dental hygiene a priority with this team. I have literally never laughed so hard during a dental exam/ treatment. The atmosphere was excellent.

Dr. Sarah is the best! she is very gentle with the injections and makes sure i am not in pain. All the staff is wonderful!! i highly recommend them to everyone!

No compassion- does not understand people have anxiety in general and anxiety about dentist making them more upset when they come in. Does not understand normal behavior and there is no empathy or compassion from her. Im not from south texas which she knew and I have a dentist back home I have seen for many years so of course I am going to be more nervous and unsure with a new dentist and want her to consult with my other dentist. Just because I did not agree with everything she said does not mean I should be dropped as a patient. I am the client I have the right to choose what I want done with my teeth and what I do not want done.

I have been a patient of Dr. Pitarra's for a couple of years; I was blessed to have been taken in by her practice following the retirement of my former dentist Dr. Dan Sciantarelli . She has always been so compassionate, professional, and thorough with my treatments; everything from teeth cleanings, to Invisalign, to restorative crown and implant dentistry. The hygienists and office staff are amazing as well, they are fantastic at explaining treatment options, scheduling payments and plans, and sending friendly reminders when its time for appointments (perfect for a busy teacher like me!) My first visit with Dr. Pitarra was wonderful. She was thorough, professional and made sure to explain things clearly.
