Often in a medical/dental setting patients become too shy when discussing their care. We want you to feel completely comfortable discussing everything with us. If you dont understand something we are saying, we want you to tell us! If you need to speak to Dr. Rubenstein, or one of the other doctors, call us. Dr. Rubenstein has a strict policy.he returns all patient phone calls before leaving the office for the day!
Before you leave our Santa Monica dental office, you will be informed about the current condition of your dental health and any recommendations we may have. Also, we understand that patients need to know- in advance what the fees will be for their treatment. We will provide you with a written estimate of what we anticipate your insurance will contribute towards your care.

We have a variety of payment options for our patients. In addition to standard payment methods, we provide access to a variety of different payment plans and financing. Our front desk staff can help you with these programs.
As a service to our patients, our practice accepts most dental insurance programs, including indemnity (traditional) and all PPOs. Our front desk staff will handle all of your paperwork including claims, authorizations, and payment plan development.
Dr. Rubenstein received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California San Diego in 1977. He attended dental school at New York University College of Dentistry where he received his DDS in 1982. After practicing for a shorttime in Manhattan, Dr. Rubenstein returned to his native Southern California and established Santa Monica Family Dentistry in 1984.
Dr. Rubenstein is a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, West LA Dental Society, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. His expertise in cosmetic dentistry includes Smile Design, Veneers, Implants, Bleaching, Bonding and Contouring. He is also a Premiere Provider for Invisalign and attends numerousInvisalign conferences where he interacts with other leading practitioners in the United States.
Dr. Roz Saedi was born and raised in sunny Southern California. She graduated at the top of her class from the prestigious University of Southern California School Dentistry where she earned her Doctorate in Dental Surgery. Prior to her dental education, she earned her Bachelors of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Roz is a skillful and artistic family dentist who is committed to delivering the highest quality dental care. She strongly believes in building relationships based on trust, helping you make informed decisions about your dental care, and creating a smile that is designed just for you.
Dr. Roz has extensive experience in the treatment of children and adults, with an emphasis on preventative dentistry. She strives to stay up-to-date on the cutting edge technology, new dental treatments, and all the latest advancements in the field of restorative and cosmetic dentistry. She is continuously seeking to advance her clinical skills through various continuing education courses. Dr. Roz maintains active memberships with the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association and the Los Angeles Dental Society. When she is not in private practice, she enjoys giving back to the community. Among other community activities and endeavors, Dr. Roz volunteered services to numerous community oral health clinics including USC mobile dental clinic, Queenscare Mobile Clinic, The Union Rescue Mission, and Special patients Clinics of USC.
Outside the office, Dr. Roz enjoys taking spinning classes at Soul Cycle, snorkeling and traveling. She looks forward to meeting all current and new patients and ensuring the best dental health and happiness for all.
Dr. Cohen received his DDS degree from Emory University in 1972. After a stint in the U.S. Air Force Dental Corp. and private practice in Atlanta, Dr. Cohen began a Preceptorship in the Dept. of Periodontics at UCLA School of Dentistry. In 1987, Dr. Cohen completed his residency in Periodontics at UCLA with his research thesis on the comparison of surgical modalities.
Dr. Cohens specialty in Periodontics, Cosmetic Gum Surgery and Implant Placement makes him an especially valuable member of our team. A consummate student of his profession, Dr. Cohen attends approximately 5-10 major dental conferences each year.

I've been coming to S.M. Family Dentistry for over a decade and Dr. Rubenstein and his staff are always professional and strive to make my visit worry free. Whether I'm getting a scheduled cleaning or a more involved procedure, the staff are dedicated to my well being checking on me throughout my time in the chair. I've been here three times now and have always had a pleasant experience, but I had such a nice experience this past Wednesday that it made me want to write a review. This time I saw doctor Nakasato and she was great. Kindly and patiently answered all my questions and concerns. And Ermy at the front desk was really lovely - she was friendly, kind, and informative about payment plan info and my insurance coverage. I didn't get my hygienist's name (she said she was a temp), but she was really nice and easy to talk to. All in all, a really nice visit. I will be back :)

Complete scam place. Have a problem with 1 wisdom tooth. But was told that Dr Rubinstein will not do surgery only on 1 tooth, because apparently he is too greedy and doesn't care about the patient, but only about how much money he is getting from them. So he either can additionally take out 3 more completely healthy wisdom teeth that he himself said are perfectly fine, or otherwise he is refusing the surgery. The staff working at the front desk are super impolite and hung up on me when I tried to ask them the logic and reasoning behind this absolutely shocking grey financial scheme. And the lady just hung up on my after saying there is no reason, its just doctor's policy. Was also advised to do gum transplant for 10 000$ and was literally encouraged to take credit loan to cover it. Went to another dentist and he said all I need is a specific toothpaste and a couple of minor treatments. Absolute scam. And customer service is the worst I've ever experienced.

I have only been here for one year but can already tell it's a friendly, professional, and punctual office. The appointments seem to run on time which is really nice and rare. And Dr Rubenstein really takes the time to get to know you and educate you on any questions. I have found the staff to be friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this office if you are looking for a new dentist.

Dentist and his assistants are kind, but the receptionists were not helpful and overall experience felt very unorganized. When I made initial appointment I wasn't told to leave at least a 2 hour window, which was an inconvenience since I had work and they don't provide parking. came early and got attended later than expected, didn't want to but agreed to get cleaning done another day , they went back and forth saying they can do cleaning after exam. Just settled to do it another day with the recommended visit to gum specialist, they said I can book it another day to do both things, receptionist said no, but dental assistant said yes. honestly got annoyed going back and forth and they weren't accommodating on the date which was TWO months out. First and last time here.
