In 1986, she graduated from Howard University College of Dentistry and was awarded the American Associate of Women Dentist Award and elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. In 1993, she received the Academy of General Dentistry's prestigious Fellowship Award. Previously, Dr. Burgess-Fongsam owned private practices in Wheaton and College Park.
She lived in Ashton, Maryland for sixteen years with her husband and two children. When not in the office, her free time is spent swimming, reading, traveling and playing 'words with friends' on her Kindle.

The entire team at sandy spring dental care is wonderful. Professional, friendly and accommodating. I love Dr. Burgess-Fongsam, she is incredibly patient, kind and listens to your concerns. The office is clean and beautiful and I had a very relaxing first visit.

I had such a great experience (who says that about the dentist?!). The staff were personable and took thoughtful COVID precautions. I have never had a dentist so enthusiastic about getting my teeth cleaned- and after almost two years since my last dental visit (working in healthcare during the pandemic sidelined my self care for too long) I was braced for a lecture. Instead I got personalized, thoughtful care. I have found my permanent dentist, for sure.

I love Dr. Burgess-Fongsam! I hated going to the dentist for my whole life until I started seeing her. She is a great dentist and is so good at explaining everything to me. I really trust her more than any other dentist I've seen. Her office staff is wonderful as well. I would highly recommend her.
