I am a native ofLancaster, New York,a suburb ofBuffalo. Growing up in the middle of twelve siblings, the concept of teamwork was deeply ingrained in my upbringing. I began my career in dentistry as a 17-year-old enlistee of the United States Army. After completing the military entrance test known as ASVAB,I discovered thatmy best aptitudes arein general science, mechanical comprehension and spatial relations. Dentistry has proven to be a great fit for me.

While stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, I studied Healthcare Management at Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC. With eleven years of greathands-on experience as a Dental Assistant, Dental Hygienist, and DentalClinic Manager at U.S. Army Dental Clinics in North Carolina and Europe, and with the encouragement of my senior dental officers, I left activeduty to enrollin dental school andgraduated from the Universityat Buffalo School of Dental Medicine with a minor in Periodontics. After completing a Post-Graduate Fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle, I purchased the longtime practice of Potsdam dentist Dr. Gerald Regan upon his retirement. I continued in the U.S. Army Reserve and retired with a total of 21 years of service.

My husband, Bill Howlett,is a fellow military veteran, andPotsdam native. My first visit to the North Country was in 1983. I fell inlove with the area, raisedour family here,and have been proudly practicing family dentistryin Potsdam since 1998.

Since becoming part of the Potsdam community,it hasbeenmyabsolute pleasure and honorto have actively servedat various times with Potsdam Rotary, Special Olympics Special Smiles, Habitat for Humanity International, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, as a past President of the St. Lawrence County Dental Society,and to currently serve on the Canton-Potsdam Hospital Foundation Board.

I truly enjoy working withpatients of all ages and practicingcomprehensive restorative dentistry, including implant restoration, endodontics, and periodontics. Myonly goal is tohelp you achieve your dental goals, by providing you with or referring you to, a team of professionalswho can help you accomplishyour long term dental goals.

Iam most proud of my team and grateful to our patient family as our practice was selected as the 2018 Business of the Year by the Potsdam Chamber of Commerce.

Having grown up in the North Country, I take pride in returning to St. Lawrence County to provide comprehensive family dental services and continue a tradition of excellence at Sandstone Family Dentistry.

I grew up in the town of Madrid, graduating from Madrid-Waddington Central School in 1999. It was there that a routine standardized test recommended the field of dentistry as a good career fit for me, so I set that as my goal and never looked back. In 2003 I graduated Summa Cum Laude with Honors from Clarkson University with a Bachelor of Science in Bio-Molecular Science. I immediately went on to pursue my Doctor of Dental Surgery, graduating Magna Cum Laude from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine in May of 2007.

A few of my best hands on experiences included my one year General Practice Residency program at St. Josephs Hospital Health Center in Syracuse, NY from 2007-2008, and an outreach mission to the Dominican Republic. More recently, I have completed extensive training in Orthodontics, so I am now offering both traditional bracket style braces as well as the clear retainer style braces.

I joined Sandstone Family Dentistry full time in July of 2008. However, as I have been part of the team since 1999, when it was known as Stacey M. Howlett, DDS, I consider this more of a family than a job. Starting as a job shadow student and working as a dental assistant when I was on school break or home for the summer, Dr. Howlett taught me a lot of her own personal techniques and I hope to continue to bring these known comforts and preferences to our patients for many years to come.
