My name is Dr. Sandra L. Payne and I would like to introduce to you to our dental practice, River City Family Dentistry, located in the heart of St. Matthews at 4156 Westport Road. It is the name for the practice of the late Dr Edward B. Hayman Jr, and I would like to take the opportunity to continue to care for his patients with the assistance of one of his staff members, Tricia. I also would like to welcome the patients I served for more than 27 years while working at my previous location at 801 Barret Avenue with my Husband Dr. John P. Rakutt.
For those patients who have not yet met me, I was born and raised in the Louisville Area. I attended the University of Louisville, where I received an Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene, Doctor of Dental Medicine and a certificate of Advanced Education in General Dentistry. I have 33 years experience in dentistry, as an Oral Surgeon Assistant, Dental Hygienist and as a Family Dentist. I have worked in Public Health and have 18 years experience as a part time Faculty member in the Department of Pediatrics at The University of Louisville School of Dentistry. I am a member of The American Dental Association, The Kentucky Dental Association, The Louisville Dental Society, The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, The Kentucky Pediatric Dental Society . I have been involved with the Louisville Dental Society on various committees over the past 27 years.
I enjoy family time with my husband, Dr. John Rakutt, our daughter, Lillie and our rescue dog, Max. We love the outdoors, completing marathons and supporting The University of Louisville Cardinal Athletics.
Below you will have an opportunity to meet the staff of our practice. Debbie and Tricia were the assistants and front office help of Dr. Hayman. I have learned to relay on their many years of combined experience. You will not find any others that are more devoted to care of their patients. They have a strong since of loyalty to the patients of Dr. Hayman and have welcomed my patients and any new patients with the same enthusiasm. Stephen, our hygienist, is a talented young man who we have had the great fortune of bringing into our practice to assist us with our the hygiene care of our patients. I am truly blessed to have these fine people to work with daily. I hope you will appreciate each as I do.
Tricia is a certified Dental Assistant. She earned her certificate of Dental Assisting form Jefferson Technical College. she has nearly 25 years experience in the field. In her spare time Tricia enjoys exercising, boating and spending time with her husband Kevin and watching her son, Kyle, play football and baseball.
Tricia has nurtured many friendships with patients of our practice over the years. The patients appreciate her kind and quiet approach to her assisting skills. She exercises great attention to detail and a willingness to help others in any way she can. We are so excited to have her as part of our TEAM.
Stephen is a double graduate of the University of Louisville. He received his Bachelor of fine Arts degree in Glassmaking in 2011 and worked in the field for nearly a decade before returning to school. In 2017 he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. Outside of work he enjoys movies, the Arts, riding his motorcycle, exploring the world with his girlfriend Crystal and loving his two ferrets, Chunk and Piper.
Stephen has a wonderful ability to make everyone feel at ease in his dental chair. We have had numerous compliments regarding his gentle thorough touch and his kind approach to educating our patients on caring for their teeth. We are so please to have Stephen as part of our TEAM.

River city family dentistry has completely changed how I feel about going to the dentist. It was once the thing I dreaded most, but now I feel comfortable and confident. They will take extremely good care of you.

As a Latino I have always been suspicious about health care in the USA, but what I found with Sandra L. Payne has been pure honest care for her patients. Overall, I have had good experiences here in KY, but this dentist exceed my expectation. I strongly recommend her services.

I have been going here for the past 6 years and love it. When the business was passed down to Dr. Sandra Payne none of its authenticity was lost. Dr. Payne is very welcoming and engaging. Her staff is cheerful and genuine. Best part-- her dental hygienist Stephen. He always did a phenomenal job of being thorough yet gentle. Thank you for helping me to have healthy teeth!
