With over 30 years of experience in the Plymouth area, Dr. MacDonald is an experienced and compassionate dentist who offers comprehensive, high-quality, gentle dental care in her state-of-the-art practice.
Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Dr. MacDonald came to Boston in 1976 to study music at Boston University. By 1978, she graduated with her bachelors and masters in bassoon performance. Following a two year program at the New England Conservatory of Music, she obtained an Artist Diploma. Then it was back to Boston University for a Doctorate in Music Program. She never completed her doctorate in music, however, because she was inspired to pursue a career in dentistry instead, first spending one year at Forsythe School for Dental Hygiene, then one year at Northeastern University, taking the prerequisites for dental school.
In 1990, Dr. MacDonald graduated Magna Cum Laude from Tufts School of Dental Medicine. While in Dental School, she was actively involved in research concerning the oral complications of wind instrumentalists. After graduation, she worked in the Oral Medicine Department of Tufts Dental School and The New England Medical Center, treating patients with oral complications due to medical conditions.
Now, with a focus on dental sleep medicine, and having been awarded Diplomate status of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine, she has completed over 500 hours of continuing education, including a mini residency program at Tufts Dental School in 2013-2014. She is a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, the American Dental Association and the Massachusetts Dental Society. Dr. MacDonald is board certified in sleep apnea treatments, and she can expertly explain the benefits of oral appliance therapy versus CPAP. As a board certified specialist in dental sleep medicine, Dr. MacDonald has devoted extra time and training to understanding how the human airway functions, the problems that can affect it and the most effective treatment options. This certification indicates a high-degree of professionalism and dedication to patient care.
Dr. MacDonald and her team are proud of the warm, patient-friendly environment they have created and of the relationships they have built with multi-generational families in the area. Rachel is a compassionate dental hygienist who grew up in Middleborough, Massachusetts. She has been employed within the field of dentistry for many years. While completing her degree in dental hygiene, she worked as a dental assistant. In 2016, she received her associate degree from Bristol Community Colleges dental hygiene program. During the conclusion of the program, she was acknowledged and awarded for excellence in her clinical practice. Her favorite part of her job is having the opportunity to alleviate dental anxiety and help patients overcome their dental fears.
When she is not helping patients achieve optimum health, she spends her days hiking the White Mountains of New Hampshire with her boyfriend, painting extremely amateur works of art, and watching the Bachelor/Bachelorette series with a glass (or two) of her favorite wine.
May hails from Colombia and earned her Associate of Dental Science in dental hygiene at Cape Cod Community College, where she was the recipient of the Hu-Friedy Golden Scaler award. She joined our office in August 2021 and is a member of the American Dental Hygienists Association.
Kelly has been working in dental offices since 2004 and became a part of our team in 2019. She appreciates being part of a small team that works well together and working for a doctor who cares about her team.
A part of our team since March 2019, Dana does everything she can to make our patients feel welcome and comfortable. She has been in the dental field for over 26 years and loves the way our team members work together. She also appreciates the way Dr. MacDonald cares about her patients and team.
Dana has been married to her saint of a husband since 1995. They share one son Landon, and four crazy animals. Dana loves spending time with her family, making candles and crafts, gardening and canning.
Nadine joined our team in June 2019 and earned her bachelors degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1976. After retiring from many years in direct marketing for a large financial institution, she is happy to be working in a calm and friendly environment where everyone genuinely cares about each patient.
Nadine manages the intake process for all of our sleep apnea patients. She understands the impact that poor sleep can have on people and enjoys creating a more personal connection by being the liaison between patients and their insurance companies, gathering all required documentation and referrals for the insurance companies to expedite successful pre-authorizations and claim submissions.
Nadine lives with her audio engineer/artist husband and their adorable dogs. She enjoys spending her spare time reading, gardening, knitting and embracing her creativity with several artistic hobbies.

First time at doctor MacDonald's, DMD, office on Long Pond Rd, Plymouth, MA. The entire staff was very professional, courteous, friendly and helpful. Additionally, doctor MacDonald and her staff were very thorough and explained every little detail so that the patient truly understands his/her situation and the options available to them. I highly recommend this professional and the office personnel as well

Dr. Mac and her staff are wonderful! OMG! I just had another appointment yesterday, and May was incredible!! I couldn't believe how amazing my teeth looked afterward. May was extremely thorough, patient, informative, and fantastic. I'm a patient for life:-) After another appointment at Dr. MacDonald's office, I can't gush enough about the staff's attention to detail, integrity, and all-around kindness. They do everything in their power to ensure you're comfortable and delighted. Admittedly I'm petrified of going to the dentist! It had been 25+ years since I'd gone to see a dentist! I walked in to make an appointment out of pure necessity. I informed the front desk of my extreme nervousness along with other issues! The professionals at the front desk assured me all my fear would be gone after my first visit! I was skeptical but it had to be done. First appointment went wonderful, no crying, not scared, everything explained before it was done. I had three appointments in 6 days and was not afraid. The entire staff made me feel safe and secure. If you are fearful, try Dr MacDonald and her amazing staff! You're sure to feel safe and happy with your dental health intact!
