Dr. Belen is a graduate of University of San Francisco, earning dental credentials at University of the Pacific Dental School in 1982. Since that time, his professional career has been devoted to providing top quality dentistry that improves the lives of his patients.
As a lifelong learner, Dr. Belen continues to take a great deal of advanced training in pursuit of this mission including participation in the Periodontics Study Club and courses in oral sedation, cosmetic dentistry, pharmacology, TMJ and jaw pain therapies, Invisalign, and dental implant treatment planning. In 2002, he completed the four-year requirements of a functional aesthetics program through University of the Pacifics Pacific Aesthetic Continuum. Dr. Belen is enthusiastic about knowledge growth for himself and his team. He believes that patients of San Mateo Dental Care deserve the benefits of contemporary techniques and state-of-the-art technologies.

Christy is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin. She has been part of the San Mateo Dental Care team for more than a decade. Christy works closely with Dr. Belen, as his primary chairside assistant. She embraces the opportunity to form lasting relationships with patients, interacting on a personal level to ensure their comfort and wellbeing. Christy is a knowledgeable resource, well-informed in dental insurance as well as clinical procedures.
As a Bay Area native, Erika graduated from Carrington College of San Jose. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree, and Associate of Applied Science degree in dental hygiene, at University of California, Los Angeles. Erika became a registered dental hygienist in 2012. With this training, she is licensed to administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide, take digital x-rays and photos, apply sealants, and perform periodontal treatment including deep cleaning scaling and root planing. She works at Dr. Belens elbow to provide comprehensive evaluations that include oral cancer screenings and review of medical conditions.
When she was a small child, Erikas family dentist let her watch procedures performed on her parents. This inspired Erika to choose dentistry as a career path, and influenced her warm, friendly chairside manner. In daily practice, her focus is on patient education, to help others manage oral health. Ericka is fluent in Spanish.
San Mateo Dental Care has been fortunate to have Christina on board for nearly a decade. She manages outside professional relationships and keeps the practice organized and running smoothly. At the office, she coordinates doctor-patient schedules, obtains insurance estimates, explains dental benefits, and assists patients with financing. Christinas overarching responsibility is to see that patients get care that meets their individual needs and goals.

Love Dr. Belen and his team! Been coming here for 27 years. He made me comfortable to go back to the dentist. Had trauma when I was a child and always had that fear. But Dr. Belen and crew always felt like they were family to one another and I could still see it to this day! Always made me feel comfortable and not scared. So much that I have been working in the orthodontic dental field myself for 21 years! Cheers to San Mateo Dental Care, thank you always!!

Dr. Belen has been my dentist for decades, for good reason. He is so skilled, stays up to date on new technology and methods and gives detailed attention to comfort throughout any procedure. I have a number of crowns and love the new 3D printer. What used to be a two appointment process with gooey impressions and lots of adjustments to lab manufactured crowns (in my mouth for bite) is now "one and done" with terrific fit. His staff is wonderful as well-kind, professional and problem-solving focused.

Technician and young Dr. made me feel terrible about my teeth. After going somewhere new and getting xrays done I found their recommendations were simply a money grab. Go at your own risk. When I was booked for all of the extra appointments they recommended, reception called four times to reschedule. Would give zero stars if possible.

I have been a patient of Dr. Belen for the past 6 years and I absolutely love everything about this place from the staff to their professionalism and latest technology used to keep my smile looking great. I'm also touched by how respectful, passionate and sweet Dr. Belen and his staff are. They truly go above and beyond to provide the best dental care with no pain. Additionally, I love that they have adhered to COVID safety standards and requirements which makes me feel relief to continue to come here. On a side note Erica is the best hygienist there is.

I had 4 implants and put in it was painless they turned out beautiful the staff was professional provided comfort and if you asked me the doctor is g o a t best dentist I've ever been to and trust me I've been to a lot of them my wife's a hygienist and she's worked for quite a few dentists so I've had my pic and he is the best and I've also had veneers done on all my front teeth not only do they feel great and look great but they made my they made my smile that much better I get nothing but compliments like I said he is a great dentist and a fantastic staff if you get the opportunity to visit him I would you will be happy if they had more stars up there I'd give them 10 Stars

This was my first time going to a dentist in 3 years! I've had very bad and very good experiences in the past. The team at San Mateo Dental Care exceeded my expectations. They were very covid conscious and made me feel safe the entire time. They were very thorough with my X-rays and cleaning. I walked out with a plan to get my dental care back on track and many preventative measures which no dentist has done before. I would highly recommend Dr. Belen and his team to anyone. You're in good hands here.
