Dr. John Huang has been providing quality orthodontic care since 1995. Dr. Huang received his Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from dental school at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He continued his post-graduate education at Harvard University where he completed his Orthodontics specialty training. He also obtained his Doctorate of Medical Sciences degree in Oral Biology with a concentration in mineralized tissues from Harvard. At graduation, Dr. Huang was recognized for his clinical excellence and his research achievements, receiving the Harvard Cadman Award of Clinical Excellence in Orthodontics and the Harvard Shaw Award for Excellence in Biomedical Research.
Having grown up on the West Coast in Vancouver, Canada, Dr. Huang moved back west to San Francisco in 2000. He has rediscovered the outdoor activities of skiing, hiking and camping. Along with practicing orthodontics, he also teaches orthodontics at the University of California San Francisco as an Associate Clinical Professor, lectures internationally on 3-D X-ray craniofacial imaging technology, and publishes extensively in many orthodontic peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Huang has received numerous awards and academic distinctions for clinical proficiency, research endeavors and community contributions. He is dedicated to maintaining the highest level of care for the community.

Dr. Huang's office was awesome. I am someone who stopped wearing their retainer after highschool and came back to Dr. Huang's office to get another treatment. Was able to get the Invisalign treatment at his office after having braces the first time around. He has really good memory and is very realistic. His staff is very friendly and efficient. Very happy to have the smile I want before my wedding! Thank you!!

I just recently had my braces taken off and I can honestly say this office is the best out there! Dr. Huang and his staff are all extremely kind, professional, and very intelligent people! Dr. Huang addressed my concerns and went over my options with me at the very beginning of my treatment. I never felt uncomfortable at any of my office visits and he happily answered any questions that I had. My crooked teeth used to be a big insecurity of mine but Dr. Huang has given me a beautiful smile that I can proudly show off!

Best Orthodontist ever!!! My 2 years having my braces were amazing, excelent service, super profesionals, the assistents are amazing and they speak spanish as well, after my 2 yrs complet, I went twice to check my retaners. I really recomend this place.

I am so pleased with my experience with Dr. Huang and his team! They have been nothing but professional and courteous throughout my treatment plan. Every employee in the office greeted my with a smile at every appointment. I was very impressed by their scheduling practices and their use of technology to stay connected with me and to ensure that I did not miss my appointments. Regarding my treatment, I opted for the Invisalign system. I had braces many years ago but noticed my teeth had moved. Dr. Huang walked me through the process from the beginning and explained everything to me in a fashion that kept me informed and included. My teeth look amazing! I highly recommend San Leandro Orthodontics.

Amazing! Dr. Huang and his team are fully transparent and supportive. I did Invisalign and was done pretty quickly. I just finished my check ups with my retainers and it was great!

I've had very good experiences with Dr. Huang. He treated my 2 teens and myself with very good results. He is upfront with you and gives you options for treatment and explains the pros and cons. The staff is friendly and wait times are very low.

Dr. John C. Huang and his team have been so wonderful on my 5year journey to close my front gap and straighten my teeth. 5years because I lost my retainer in 2020 right when we went into lockdown. Dr. Huang helped me out in again May 2020 because the gap was coming back do to not wearing the retainer for a month and a half. I recommend this place because of excellent service, friendly people and safety.

My last appointment 4/4/22, great team and professional experience, always feel like your welcome and the dental assistance are always happy, felt more then just a dental visit, With the results I got the price was worth it, since I was recommended and from the first quot I received I never felt pressure finacialy, great service, and always informative of the next steps to perfect the smile .

I went a few years back for braces. I felt like they rushed my treatment & tried to get me out as soon as possible. I was concerned because the day I was going to get my braces off, my teeth were still crooked. He filed down my front teeth to make them look even (without my consent) & now I have to get fills because they're sensitive and the fills on my front teeth always chip easily. Due to them rushing my treatment, I received trauma to my front tooth (it turned black while I had the braces on and it hurt because they were applying too much pressure to that tooth). Now it turns out I need a root canal and a crown cause of that. I didn't mind how my teeth looked before braces. Honestly, I wish I would've gone to another office to get braces. Having straight teeth is not worth it compared to the things I have to fix now because of this office.

Dr. Huang is such a scam, and I would NEVER recommend this orthodontics office to anybody. I have been wanting to write this review for many years but was afraid to because Dr. Huang's office would reply with lies and half-truths, but as an adult I feel terrible about my teeth and the "finished product" the office left me with I can't hold my tongue any longer I was a patient of Dr. Huang's orthodontics office until 2015ish, and he straight up scammed my family above the braces market rate and provided a terrible end result. First, he fed my family lies about how long my treatment would take and teeth extractions first get me in the door and charge my family. Second, once I had my braces on Dr. Huang radically changed the treatment plan which he should've known would happen as someone who brags about being a "Harvard graduate" all the time to potential patients in an attempt to gain credibility (by the way, Harvard doesn't mean ANYTHING if you can't be a good ortho and do the bare minimum). I do not care if you went to Harvard if you cannot fix patients' teeth and provide good customer service. I was never a Karen but whenever I raised any concerns re braces, Dr. Huang would oddly breathe/hyperventilate through his mask so hard his breath was getting into my open mouth while I was lying down in his chair. I am not kidding. Imagine him doing this during COVID-19 and exposing lots of young teenagers to diseases. As a Harvard graduate, HE SHOULD KNOW how transmissible diseases are if he pointlessly breathes into patients mouths like this. I never saw the point of Dr. Huang doing this. If he acted this negligently then, he and his terrible personality have never changed. One example of how my treatment plan changed is that my family and I were told my braces would be on my teeth for 2 years then suddenly when I got my braces on, Dr. Huang took 4 YEARS to get my braces off which resulted in damage which I am still dealing with today. Since my braces were on four years, my teeth shift easily even though I wear my retainer religiously. The longer you have your braces on, basically the more easily your teeth shift because your teeth got used to the braces. If you have your braces on for shorter, that is more beneficial to establishing a permanent structure where your straight (haha Dr. Huang never left me with straight teeth) teeth is less likely to shift and when it does, it'll shift less. Yes, I wore my elastics and had a perfect track record with my teeth. I brushed and flossed everyday. If I broke a bracket which happened only twice during the entire four years, I came in immediately to the office to have a new one glued on. Two years later after getting my braces off, I had a serious emergency with my teeth from Dr. Huang's product, and Dr. Huang refused to see me for an extremely quick visit. Dr. Huang and his similarly terrible financial/insurance assistant Stephanie (or whatever her name was, it has been 7 years since I got my braces off) who helps Dr. Huang brag about his Harvard degree (that means nothing since he is a terrible orthodontist who has bad customer service and does not care about the end product of teeth) were saying I was out of luck because of some stupid contract signed 6 years ago before the phone call by my mom. I asked for a 1 time exception and they said no. Other orthodontists want patients to be happy and are willing to see patients. Also, remember that example of Dr. Huang breathing in my mouth? Stephanie would linger behind me and just stare at me for no good reason. I never understood why she did this to a child. I am not sure if Stephanie is still here but this just goes to show the environment of the office. I am beyond dissatisfied and feel so self-conscious of my teeth now that I am an adult. His dental assistants have high turnover because he probably treats them even more poorly compared to patients. If you care about your child and the health of your teeth, avoid this place at all costs. STAY AWAY and never again. I tell everyone in my family to just avoid this orthodontics office.
