Dr. Harandi was born and raised in San Diego. He could not get himself to leave, so he did his undergraduate studies at UCSD, earning a Bachelors degree in Biology, and later went to USC Dental School.
Open wider. requested the dentist, as he began his examination of the patient. Good God ! he said startled. Youve got the biggest cavity Ive ever seen the biggest cavity Ive ever seen. OK Doc ! replied the patient. I m scared enough without you saying something like that twice. I didnt ! said the dentist. That was the echo.
In case you have not noticed, Tom is Dr. Fred Harandis brother. Tom was born and raised in San Diego graduating from Torrey Pines High School in 1999. He then achieved a Bachelors Degree in Political Science at UCLA. Tom enjoys teaching and coaching, writing, and playing sports.

There are so many things I really enjoyed about this office. All of the staff were really nice. Scheduling was very easy and I was given multiple reminders for my appointment which made it easy to remember. I ended up needing a root canal, and the nice thing was is that everything could be done in house, I didn't have to be referred anywhere to be treated from start to finish. The Netflix goggles were really cool too! Dr. Fred is the best! Look no further!

Dr. Fred and his team are fantastic. I have been coming here for many years for my routine cleaning and have not had one bad experience. I always feel like I am in good hands. Amber the dental hygienist is cheerful, experienced, knowledgeable and gives the most delicate and thorough cleaning. She is one of the best. Dr. Fred is very professional, caring, honest and precise. I had a cavity filled and during the procedure he made sure I wasn't in any pain and even sent me a follow up text the next day to make sure I was recovering well. Thanks San Diego Smile Team!

I usually have really bad anxiety when coming to the dentist office, however Amber, the dental hygienist, was absolutely amazing. She helped me feel so comfortable, while still being professional. She is a remarkable, skilled dental hygienist that clearly knows what she is doing. All the staff in the office are amazing, extremely welcoming, and make you feel like an actual person, rather than just someone with a credit card. So thankful for this team.

Over the last year Dr. Fred and his team helped me get Invisalign. The process involves repeated visits to make sure it's working properly. I probably went there 8-10 times in the roughly 12 months it took to straighten out my teeth. On every visit, Dr. Fred and his team were nothing short of professional and courteous. Dr. Fred himself was very thorough and meticulous. I never felt like he was rushing it. The end results are truly life changing. I'm 40 years old and have been self conscience of my teeth for as long as I can remember. Now they're totally straight. Thank you to Dr. Fred and his team for all that they did!!

I had a great experience. I called a day before and they were able to accommodate me the next day! That was huge because most dentists say they are fully booked for the next two months. Every body was nice, from the receptionist to the doctor. Amber, the dental hygienist, was extremely sweet and gentle. She cleaned my teeth really well and took the time to explain to me in lamen words the importance of flocing and how a poor dental hygiene can lead to teeth loss. They didn't try to rip me off or schedule me for things I didn't need. The cleaning made me feel more confident and the X-rays were done correctly. I highly recommend the place.

Great staff! I have been coming to San Diego Smile Dentistry for years and would highly recommend. They go above and beyond on providing a pain free experience and I have had such a great experience that going to the dentist is no longer something I dread. I recently had a deep cleaning with Amber and I highly recommend her. In the past I've had deep cleanings and they have been such a painful experience, not with Amber! She has such a gentle touch and did an amazing job.

I don't have the best feeling when it comes to dentist visits. I've had bad memories as a kid which is why I avoid it as much as possible. However, after visiting Dr Freds office about year ago, going to the dentist now is like going to Disneyland for adults lol! Its the happiest place on Earth. The staff are all very friendly, Dr Fred is professional and knows what hes doing. Over all I am very happy. Although today is probably a memorable one because I met my hygienist Amber and it felt like hanging out with an old friend but at a dentist office. Not only that- She made sure she cleaned my teeth thoroughly! I had a great experience with her and look forward to my next teeth cleaning which is in 6 months! My husband goes to San Diego Smile Dentistry too and we're both very happy with their service.

SD Smile Dentistry has been caring for my oral health since 2012! I was so scared of going to the dentist until I met Dr. Fred, Tom, and Shah (the coolest office dog!). My dental experiences before SD Smile Dentistry were so traumatic that Dr. Fred prescribed medication to help me relax before my appointments. Since my initial visits, I grew more comfortable and accustomed to dental work that I no longer needed medication to have my teeth cleaned! (Yay!) The office is located in a plaza and has reserved parking out front. They have relaxing music, tv, magazines, tea, and a cozy waiting area. I want to give a shout-out to Amber who cleaned my teeth today- she was super funny and had a gentle touch! Thanks for my smile, SD Smile Dentistry!!!

Such a great office! I absolutely dread going to the dentist but Dr. Harandi & his entire staff made the entire process easy & enjoyable. Amber, the hygienist, is so knowledgeable, attentive and clearly skilled at what she does. I was floored at how easy the x-rays were, how well she did the cleaning and how painless it was. Dr. Harandi has a great bedside manner, is clearly very knowledgeable and clearly wants the best for patients (vs. just his bottom line). I worked in healthcare for a while and this is truly such a rare thing to find these days! Tom, the office manager, is wonderful as well. Very pleasant, helpful & explained all treatment plans and options very clearly and concisely. Treatment costs also seem super reasonable. Highly recommend, I drove across town for this dentist. I will be back soon!
