Dr. Kwok grew up in Los Angeles and attended UCSD where he earned a dual degree in Bioengineering (ABET) and Biochemistry. He furthered his education at the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine, where he obtained his Doctorate of Medical Dentistry and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Deciding to further hone his general dental skills, he continued his dental education as a General Practice Resident at NYU Lutheran Medical Center. Aside from learning how to perform wisdom tooth extractions and treating medically compromised patients as a GPR resident, Dr. Kwok developed a profound interest in periodontology, leading him to commit another three years to pursue a Certificate in Periodontology at NYU Lutheran Medical Center where he served as Chief Resident.
After finishing his specialty training, he made significant achievements beyond the mandatory educational requirements to become Board Certified in Periodontology and Dental Implant Surgery. He furthered his education by earning certifications in the Chao Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation Technique, the LANAP (laser assisted new attachment procedure) protocol, the Pat Allen Soft Tissue Allograft Tunneling technique, the Bone Ring technique, and the Subperiosteal Minimally-Invasive Aesthetic Ridge Augmentation Technique (SMART) technique.
Dr. Kwok deems patient care and comfort to be paramount in the dental office. He carefully listens to his patients needs and formulates a comprehensive treatment plan to accommodate their goals and desires. Dr. Kwok loves to educate his patients with dental knowledge so that they may be better informed about their smile and oral health.
Dr. Kwok is very committed to both his patients and the community. He is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and the San Diego County Dental Society. He also serves as a volunteer faculty member at UCSD where he teaches future dental students while giving back his services to the underserved.
Kelly Wei is our Office Manager. She graduated from the Questrom School of Business at Boston University. After graduation, she was offered to join the Leadership Development Program at The Hartford, an accelerated program where a selected few are trained to become future leaders of the company. Her love for New York City brought her to Moodys Analytics, where she led marketing initiatives on the product team. Although she misses the northeast, she was tired of the long winters and moved to Southern California where she was offered a managing role in dentistry.
She has resided in several different cities in Asia and America before making San Diego her home. When shes not working on improving patient experience, she enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, staying active and going to the beach. She lives to eat and has an ice cream/gelato and bubble tea addiction.
Chi Lee is our Registered Dental Hygienist. She graduated from UC San Diego and continued her hygiene education at the Alleghany College of Maryland. Since 2004, she has been our reputable and trusted hygienist. She is loved by our patients for her gentle thoroughness and expertise. Chi and her husband have three parrots, Monster, Sunny & Connie.
Kayla Murray is our Registered Dental Assistant. She is a native San Diegan who graduated from Grossmont Health Occupations Center where she completed the dental assisting program and obtained her license. She strives to provide the best possible care for our patients. Kaylas bubbly personality brings our patients comfort and eases their anxiety. Kayla and her husband enjoy glamping with their daughter and dog, Russell.

Dr. Kwok is amazing! My boyfriend had bad gum recession. Dr. Kwok performed a gum graft and the results were great! The recovery process wasn't as bad or painful as we had anticipated. I highly recommend Dr. Kwok & his team!

Really fortunate I had my severe gum issues, with deep pockets, taken care of here. Dr. Kwok offered a sound plan for treatment and was very much on top of every procedure. Explained prognosis for treatment in very realistic terms. Let his expertise do the talking, instead of the other way around. Highly recommend!

I used to hate coming to the dentist from my past experiences but after coming in from the start he makes me feel so comfortable coming into my appointments and always break every detail down for me to understand the process and procedures. Everyone at San Diego Periodontics & Implant Dentistry was fantastic! Dr. Kwok was professional, informative and gentle. I had two osseous surgeries. The procedures were comfortable and pain-free. Dr. Kwok was very thorough and skilled. Swelling and bruising were minimal after both surgeries. Healing was smooth without sensitivities or excessive inflammation. I am very happy with the result. And huge appreciation to the staff! There were all very kind, caring, and sweet. Overall it was a great experience! Thank you!

I've seen a lot of dentists in my day and I can honestly say, Dr. Kwok raises the bar with professionalism. The customer service was excellent and I really like the idea that he had a camera in the room where he was performing. That tells me know he is confident in his work and he knows what he is doing!!! I will be back and I am very grateful to have had this experience!!!

Dr. Kwok is absolutely amazing! He is a magician when it comes to gums. I've had some serious gum recession that I have neglected over the years. I was referred to Dr. Kwok by my dentist, and after my first consultation with him, I felt comfortable and at ease trusting him to fix my recession. Dr. Kwok was calm and explained all of my questions and concerns thoroughly. I decided to knock out the entire procedure for my 8 teeth all at once. The surgery was 4.5 hours, and was literally painless! Dr. Kwok made sure I was comfortable throughout the procedure, and even had breaks in-between. For the recovery, he texted me personally when I was home to make sure everything is ok and I am not experiencing any issues. When I saw my dentist for a cleaning (you can't brush your teeth after a gum graft - you have to be very gentle), she was blown away when she compared the before/after pictures of my gums. If you require a gum graft, look no further. Dr. Kwok is the only person I would trust. Thank you Dr. Kwok!

I am physician who unfortunately has no too much to say good about place; please make sure that dental hygienist do a good job and is not a new one every time you go there .. - it seems that for the same price some do the job in 30 minutes , some in an hour...even your teeth and hygiene is the same...but if you have any doubt about the service and any questions to ask .. front office will ask you to pay 100 $ consultation/follow up fee to speak to the Dr Kwok otherwise you are on your own/Out of the door ...price for cleaning itself is 170 $ and above so add another 100$ just to ask the question... new start operation needs funds but it is not professional and it is not nice... to say the least...then you look around for old decor and equipment...and no spirit at all... make sure if you pay cash and sing up for the procedure it will include follows up including monitoring side effects so you do not have to pay 100 $ each time you go back... .. it is extremely unethical even to the dentist has overall good side matters.. I would never recommended this place as a physician and family of the dentist ...please check the place first, downtown and bankers hills have a lot of dentist a good one like I had before...I waited month to talk to Dr Kwok about these issues before I placed the on web today - he never called me back and his office simple cancelled my follow up appointment even I wanted to pay them whatever they wanted...to have continuity of care and follow up on complication of the laser procedure.. easy for them ...they do not have to follow up on the complications they had -easy way out...

On a scale of 1-10, I would give Dr Kwok a 15! This is my first experience with oral surgery, in preparation for an implant. The extraction process, gum trim and stitches were a pain FREE experience. My follow up appointments have been quick and easy. I would highly recommend Dr Kwok!

Like lots of you, I was contemplating having some badly needed dental work done during this pandemic. The fact that I'll be wearing a mask for the foreseeable future made it that much easier. I'd surfed around for at least a dozen dentists. Heck, there are 3 within 100 yards of my home. Once I decided to call Dr. Kwok's office, I felt lots more comfortable about just getting on with it. The first person I spoke with to schedule my initial appointment was pleasant, respectful and patient. She even went so far as to remind me of their parking behind the building. My temperature was checked upon arrival. They walked me to a sink so I could wash my hands as well as mouthwash. Top shelf service! Dr. Kwok was amazing from beginning to end. I was told previously by another dentist that I needed some major gum work via laser. Dr. Kwok offers the same service but I didn't need it. He said a deep cleaning would fix me right up. Although I did need to have 9, yes 9 teeth extracted. I waited waaayy too long and my teeth were being 'pushed out'. Dr. Kwok also referred me to another dentist for my partial so I could plan the entire thing out. This is where Kathleen and Kelly really, REALLY impressed the 'heck' out of me. They made and received numerous calls between my insurance and the dentist doing my partial. Once everything was set up, we pulled the trigger. I had all 9 teeth pulled on the same day without a hitch. Dr. Kwok and his assistant were so good that I didn't even realize he'd pulled the first few! I'm ecstatic with not only Dr. Kwok, but Kathleen and Kelly really made everything seamless and actually enjoyable! Stop surfing around and just call them already. You won't regret it!

Recently, I just had a procedure done with Dr. Kwok and his team at San Diego Periodontics. I had nervousness going into the procedure, but Dr. Kwok and his team were able to help alleviate some of the nervousness. Immediately when you walk into the office, the receptionist conveys a very warm and sweet greeting. Dr. Kwok and his team go above and beyond when it comes to patient care. Compassion, genuineness and kindness were shown from the consult about the procedure, during the procedure itself and at all the check ins after. Before any steps were taken, Dr. Kwok was able to use laymen's terms to convey what was happening. Constant check ins happened during the procedure to see how I was doing and he even started playing calming piano music to reduce my stress. Among these small actions, Dr. Kwok and his team were able to convey a nonjudgmental , nurturing and a safe environment. Alongside patient care, Dr. Kwok's attention to detail in his work was impeccable. His work was precise, and intricate which allowed my smile to look natural. My experience at SD Periodontics was safe, positive and it has allowed me to be genuinely proud of my new smile. Thank you!

So, I wanted to wait until after my 6-month follow up to write the review, even though I was pretty sure right from the get-go how the review would go. This was the first time I'd needed to see a perdiodontist. I was beyond scared because Healthy teeth are the most important thing to me. My dentist recommended someone who wasn't in my network and I had gone for a consultation but wasn't too impressed. I decided to shop around and found Dr. Kwok. The reviews seemed too good to be true. But I showed up for the consultation with the details from my other consultation. And he performed his own exams and drew his own conclusions without consulting the information I had in-hand. I liked this. He was thorough, and I felt that I could trust him. He had a very gentle and calm bedside manner which I was so appreciative of. He explained everything in great detail and kept asking if I had any further questions, to make sure he could address every concern I had. The procedure went just as expected, and the results were great. The thing I was most impressed with, however, was the constant check-ins for the first few days up to a week afterward. The office would send me texts all throughout my recovery to check on me and it always seemed to be the during time period of most concern (I.e. later in the evening as I was getting ready for bed and actually had time to process how I was feeling). I am confidant in Dr. Kwok's abilities, his bedside manner was beyond appreciated and his wonderful office staff was warm and cheerful, and explained everything for the billing thoroughly. Don't take this the wrong way, Dr. Kwok, but I hope I never have to see you again!

Dr. Kwok is very professional and took his time to explain the procedure. I was expecting a lot of pain after the removal of my tooth, but it turned my much better than I expected. The pain was very mild only for a couple of days. I'd strongly recommend Dr. Kwok and all the staff.
