Dr. Pedro Avendao graduated with honors from the University of Chile. There he also served as a clinical instructor in fixed prosthodontics, crowns, bridges, as well as implants training for the International Team for Implantology Straumann (ITI).
Prior to coming to California, he served as the director of a group of clinical practices in Santiago, Chile where he focused on Implants and Oral Rehabilitation. He is an active member of numerous dental societies in which he participates in lectures and continued education focused on Endodontics, Oral Surgery, and Implants. He assisted in a course on Implant Maxi at the Loma Linda University, School of Dentistry. He is a member of the California Dental Association, American Dental Association, and American Academy of Implant Dentistry since 2011. Dr. Avendao enjoys mountain skiing and spending time with his family.Skill and compassion go hand in hand when providing exceptional patient care. As a dental professional, I stay up to date on the latest advancements in dentistry in order to provide the most current treatment options for my patients. I'm reposting this review as my original review was responded to by San Bruno Smile and in it I was accused of awful and untrue things that were blatantly fraudulent and defamatory. In addition to the original review, which is posted below, it has become clear that San Bruno Smile actively targets negative reviews, such as this one, and then personally and publicly attacks the poster in an attempt to intimidate them to remove the posting. I've never had any provider, dental or not, treat me so poorly and I hope you can avoid my experience and San Bruno Smile entirely. The original review: To start, their admin staff is just horrible. They won't call you back, they'll request that you reschedule your appointment multiple times, and they are openly disrespectful. They will actively create problems for you, but will do little to help solve them. Second, their prices are incredulous. My insurance covers my dental care, but I requested to be fit for a retainer and the quote given me was well outside of the maximum end for what retainers should cost. Third, the dentists they recruit to their clinic are unprofessional, and you are unlikely to get the same dentist twice. The last guy I had was commenting on his dental hygienist's weight in front of her, which was very uncomfortable. Please learn from my mistake and avoid San Bruno Smile. I will be reevaluating them as my dental care provider as soon as I finish my cleaning, as they have already rescheduled me twice, failed to follow up with me on requested dental care, and have been incredibly rude and careless in several interactions. Hope you can avoid my experience.

Staff is highly organized and professional from the front office to the back. Up to date technology and pristine cleanings. My teenage hated going to the dentist and since qe found this office, two years ago, hes willing to go. He even took time to tell me how much he likes the staff. Says a lot clming from a teenager.

It was my first time at this dentist office. It was a very bright and clean place. Extremely nice staff and efficient and friendly process. It's a very busy office, so there is some waiting time. But I had one tech for the X-rays, a dental hygienist for the cleaning and a different hygienist for the polishing. Then Dr Tai came in to talk to me about my X-rays and what I would need to do for the future. I have one tooth that needs attention right now, to redo the filling and one that will be on a watch and see. I appreciated that he didn't try to "oversell" me or make me worry about my whole mouth. It's a very nice practice and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to someone else.

I had appointments for 4pm and they attended to me five minutes earlier. I was so glad that they saw me well before my appointment. The staff and Doctor was so nice. Thank you San Bruno Smile Team.

I had a 9 am appointment and got there 5 min early. X-rays we're done at about 9:50. Polishing started at 10am. Cleaning started at about 10:15. By 11am I still hadn't seen a dentist. And was kept being told he'll come soon. I walked out. These guys are pretty disorganized.

Excellent professional staff. Took sometime to find availability for the first appointment but once I was in I was able to make future appointments easily. They have parking in the back & you can also park on the street. The clinic has been renovated and everything looks neat and clean. I highly recommend.

Yes, I was dreading to go. It's been 2 years since I had my teeth cleaned. My prior dentist was closed forever. Then I called my insurance thinking I could change my existing dentist. Things have changed everywhere. And it did. Lord I was thankful. I was bleeding with inflammation. I had headaches, ringing in the ears. I came in a BIG mess. Ladies were very sensitive with me. DDS Sing was great and kept saying " I'm sorry" till the end. And this was just a cleaning! Omg! I felt way better hearing her voice. I felt real sore but it was my fault for waiting too long. Never will I jeopardize myself like this again..it's been 4 days now. Next will be my deep cleaning. But, I'll be numb for that! Thank you again for all your services.. Very Greatful

When I needed to switch dental care due to loss of coverage and previous disappointment with other providers Dr. Avendano was just a name I choose from google search, and , of course I was very leary,. Once I stepped into his office and met the front desk staff I Immediately sensed a positivity in the care I was about to received. The staff radiated warmth and upon meeting Dr. Avendano the first time I noticed a graciousness, humbleness and a special "morality" in his demeanor. I have worked 30 years as a professional health care provider myself and I can sense sincerity and good ethics. Dr Avendano has both and his working staff reflects this with incredible teamwork and support. I have been with him for 5 years+ and cannot commend him anymore with his technical skills, patience and determination to provide excellent results. I have to admit that at as an older patient my dental needs are quite challenging and Dr..Avendano has proven to be a warrior who has manage to overcome any challenge to a point of complete satisfaction. I have seen his volume of patients grow....without a doubt the reason behind this is obvious.

I had an appointment at 2pm on Thursday. The office was clean, I appreciated the process (sending forms online, waiting in the car until it was my turn). My dentist assistant was amazing! I forgot her name, but she was so helpful, patient, and sweet. My dentist was very straightforward and came up with a great/simple care plan. I did wait a long time for my dentist, but i was sitting in my chair. My appointment took a while, 1.5 hours for teeth cleaning/check up, but they were just super busy, which is understandable at any doctor's office.

So I've been going to Dr. Avendano for 5 years, but I changed jobs and my new insurance didn't cover his office. After reading all the negative reviews about my new HMO dentist and all others from Daly City to Redwood City, I decided to ask San Bruno Smile how much they would charge without insurance. I'm so glad I did! They charged Lower than their estimate, and did fabulous work as always. Reviews about the HMO dentists said they upsold many patients then said the procedures weren't covered, so had to pay out of pocket. San Bruno Smile has never tried to upsell me!
