Dr. Michael A. Pikos is the CEO and Founder of Coastal Jaw Surgery and opened his first office in 1983 in Palm Harbor, FL. He is also the CEO and Founder of the world renowned Pikos Institute in Trinity, FL. He is recognized as a world authority on dental implant surgical reconstruction. Since 1990 he has been teaching advanced courses in bone and soft tissue grafting for dental implant placement with alumni that now number more than 5000 from all 50 states and 43 countries. He and his team of doctors emphasize interactive 3D CT radiograph technology along with foundational principles of prosthetics and biomechanics that dictate the ultimate success of comprehensive dental implant rehabilitation.
Dr. Michael A. Pikos is originally from Campbell, Ohio. He attended The Ohio State University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He also graduated with honors from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Dr. Pikos completed residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, Montefiore Hospital.
Dr. Pikos founded Coastal Jaw Surgery in 1983 and is the senior member of a four surgeon practice. He has extensive experience in implant surgery, having placed more than 30,000 implants and having performed thousands of hard and soft tissue grafting procedures. He emphasizes interactive CT technology along with foundational principles of prosthetics and biomechanics that dictate the ultimate success of comprehensive implant rehabilitation. Since 1990, he devoted his practice exclusively to implant dentistry.

Dr. Kenneth L. Anderson has been with Coastal Jaw Surgery since 2017. He has been actively practicing as a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon for the past 7 years. Dr. Anderson specializes in dental alveolar surgery, Zygomatic implants, nerve repositioning for dental implants, temporary crowns for dental implants, temporary implants, guided implant surgery, complex bone and soft tissue grafting, general anesthesia, facial trauma, platelet rich fibrin, oral pathology including jaw cysts and tumors. He assists in teaching dental clinicians in the Tampa Bay area through Coastal Jaw Surgerys Pinnacle Study Club held at the Pikos Institute in Trinity, Florida. Dr. Anderson is located in the Spring Hill office.
Dr. Anderson practices full scope oral and maxillofacial surgery with emphasis on dental alveolar surgery, implants, hard and soft tissue grafting, general anesthesia, facial trauma, cleft palate, and orthognathic surgery. Dr. Anderson focuses much of his time expanding his knowledge at continuing education events throughout the country. Dr. Anderson has attended Dr. Arnetts course for orthognathic surgery and Dr. Bedrossians zygomatic implant training courses. He works closely with various other medical and dental specialties including dentists, ENT, and sleep specialists.
Dr. Philip J. Hedger has been with Coastal Jaw Surgery since 2016 as our resident Prosthodontist. Dr. Hedger specializes in treating dental and facial issues that involve restoring missing teeth. He is highly trained in cosmetics, dental implants, crowns, bridges, dentures and temporomandibular disorders (TMJ/TMD). Dr. Hedger is faculty member of the Pikos Institute where he teaches implant prosthodontics. He assists in teaching dentists and hygienists in the Tampa Bay area through Coastal Jaw Surgerys Pinnacle and Hygiene Study Club held at the Pikos Institute in Trinity, Florida. Dr. Hedger is located in the Same Day Teeth office in Trinity.
Dr. Hedger maintains an active involvement within the dental community, serving on committees and providing educational lectures to peers. He lives with his wife Stacy (his high-school sweetheart) and their four daughters in Odessa. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends.

Dr. Nicole Hernandez is a native of Tampa, FL, born to parents of Cuban descent and happens to be the third-generation female dentist in her family. She received her early education locally at the Academy of the Holy Names, and received her degree in Biology at Florida State University.
Dr. Hernandez practices as a dual-degree Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at Coastal Jaw Surgery, a multidisciplinary practice. She employs a full scope of surgical treatment with an emphasis on dental extractions, dental implants, hard and soft tissue bone grafting, benign pathology, and TMJ disease.
When not busy working, Dr. Hernandez enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and philanthropic activities. For the past seven years, she has been an active member of the Healing the Children organization, Florida Chapter, participating in surgical missions to Neiva, Colombia, benefitting children with cleft lip and palate. She is also an elected board member of the Tampa Bay Latin American Medical Society.

After years of struggling with gum disease and failing teeth I made the decision to have a full arch replacement. My experience with Coastal couldn't have been better. From the start they were highly professional and extremely detailed. Dr Hernandez preformed the survey and Dr Hedger managed the prosthetic. Both were perfectionist and fantastic. And all of the assistants were equally excellent. Highly recommend. Best choice I could have made.

After going to several locations, I finally found a place, Same Day Teeth, where I was comfortable asking questions about my situation and received courteous and knowledgeable answers. Dr Hedger and his assistant Paula are fantastic! Super warm and friendly, I couldn't have asked for better care. They answered all my questions, and made me feel completely at ease with my implant procedure. And the results are truly amazing! I love my new smile!!!

Receptionist was nice but they may want to change the name to "in the next few months teeth" rather than "same day teeth". I called in pain with a wisdom tooth issue and as soon as I said United healthcare insurance, it was a totally different conversation that left me knowing that they were not interested in working with me because I suddenly needed a regular dentist referral (found out per my insurance that is not true) and I couldn't get an appointment until September.

I had the uppers removed and replaced with implants late last year. Although it was not without some complications all concerns were addressed and quickly remedied. Dr. Hedger and Michael Pikos were very responsive and professional.

Dr. Rosati is AMAZING! She has an awesome bedside manner and is genuine when she talks to you. Before, during, and after my dental implant she made sure that I was completely informed about what was occurring. She also made sure that I was not experiencing any pain. If you are looking for an oral surgeon, this is the center you need to come to.

If you're going to have dental implants I know you have a lot of choices. I chose coastal jaw surgery because "you've got to love these teeth"!! I went for years watching my teeth leave me until I learned to eat almost everything without. Dr Anderson was amazing. His skills are second to none. His implants, strategically placed are holding strong. Doctor Hedger and his team designed and fitted my teeth and they're working better than my own. I have no worries at restaurants or going shopping for food. Everything is so natural. My only regret was waiting so long to "get er done". We'll done coastal jaw.

Dr. Hedger is a perfectionist. Not one of my appointments felt rushed. He is kind, considerate, and really listened to how I wanted my teeth to look. I wanted teeth that would look like my real teeth, not perfect, bright white teeth. So, between the two of us, we designed my teeth to have character. I had him slightly tuck two teeth behind my front teeth. When the final set was delivered, and I loved them; however, I found the color of the gums to be just a bit darker than what I had wanted. Dr. Hedger said no worries and had them lightened up a bit. Dr. Hedger genuinely enjoys his profession, and I highly recommend him, Dr. Pikos and their entire staff. I made the right choice, choosing Same Day Teeth, and I truly love my smile.

Dr. Hedger and his associates and staff are very thorough and knowledgeable. After a nightmare with a local dentist who did implants improperly, i was told by another dentist that Dr. Hedger was the best. I called his office for an appointment and after explaining my experience they made my appointment immediately. During my appointment Dr. Hedger quickly assessed the situation and how to remedy the problem. He fixed my problem and I have been great since then. I highly recommend him. John

I was experiencing severe pain every time I would eat or drink something cold. The doctor said I needed my wisdom teeth extracted as one was likely cracked or had a cavity causing the issues. We agreed to a surgery, they gave me RX for pain and anesthesia helpers and sent the quote to insurance for approval. The office told me it could take up to 4-6 weeks for approval, but they'd call once it was approved to setup a surgery date. They never called so I called my insurance who said everything was approved almost two weeks prior. I called the surgery center who said their quotes are only good for 30 days and I'd have to see the dentist again to get a new quote and start the process over again. When I pushed back she said she'd ask the office manager and call me back. That was two months ago. I guess I'll deal with pain until January when my new insurance kicks in and I can find a real professional. Thank you for four months of pain.

Recently had some very complicated work done at Coastal Jaw Surgery at Pikos Institute. Dr. Hedger was very amazing prosthodontist and is truly a exceptional perfectionist. He designed my teeth perfectly and could not be happier. Dr. Pikos is the best oral surgeon. Initially I thought there were no options and he took a very complicated issue and created a life changing solution, where other doctors were not willing to take the challenge. The facility is state of the art and felt very welcomed by the staff. I can honestly say this has been a life changing event which will enhance my quality of life. Thank you to the doctors and staff for such a pleasant and memorable experience. Would strongly recommend them to anyone looking for SOLUTIONS!

Dr. Rosati and the rest of the team at the Trinity location were incredible. I was in and out in an efficient manner and they were extremely thorough. All of my questions were answered and they laid out the expectations for me after my procedure that were very easy to follow. I would highly recommend their practice for any dental work!

The entire staff, at Same Day Teeth at Pikos Institute, were exceptional. They were pleasant, efficient, and truly caring. Dr. Tony Pikos was outstanding in his ability to communicate, his desire to prevent and eliminate discomfort, and his ability to provide verbal support during the procedure. Follow up, after my procedure, was excellent, both by Dr Pikos and the staff. I would not hesitate to return, to them, for future dental needs.
