There is no drilling down your healthy teeth to little pegs, no braces, no aligners, and no jaw surgery. The Face Lift Dentistry Method, which includes JawTrac alignment and VENLAY bite correction, corrects underbites, overbites, misaligned jaws, open bites, crossbites, TMJ pain relief, headaches, and at the same time, it optimizes the shape of your entire face, your jawline, your profile. This method gives you cosmetic excellence that goes several levels beyond a smile makeover. We transform your smile, jawline, profile, and your entire face in less than a month.

When considering the cost of Face Lift Dentistry, keep in mind that you are asking for far greater benefits than what porcelain veneers and cosmetic dentistry can provide. To optimize your jaw position, correct your bite, and decrease stress and tension in your head and neck areas is above and beyond porcelain veneers. You will be getting an independent non-invasive porcelain restoration made for every tooth in your mouth, which must be designed to fit when you bite your teeth together. Your new bite also needs to synchronize with the functionality of both jaw joints (TMJ.) Many patients can chew effectively, get improved breathing, sleeping better, better jaw position and alignment, improve your profile, optimize the shape of your face, provide facial support, relieve TMJ pain and/or headaches, which improves the the quality of your life. Face Lift Dentistry with JawTrac Alignment and VENLAY Restorations is far more comprehensive functionally and aesthetically because this method doesn't just optimize your smile, it optimizes your entire face.

The Face Lift Dentistry smile is a more comprehensive approach than the smile makeover because we optimize your smiles, and we optimize your entire face. This requires treatment to every tooth on either the top or bottom arch, and most often all of your teeth in order to match the color perfectly. Smile makeovers usually involve porcelain veneers on only some of your upper teeth, and usually involves drilling down and shaving your healthy teeth down.

The Face Lift Dentistry method is a much more advanced level of health care by giving you the optimizing JawTrac jaw position, which makes it the proven alternative to jaw surgery, braces, aligners, smile makeovers, and porcelain veneers. Without the ideal jaw position, you may never look or feel your best.

Call the office, 310-829-6796, to get our cell phone number and email address (if we put them on the website, we get too much spam), so you can send us some photos of your face and teeth. Also, send a video of you explaining your health and cosmetic issues. Make the video short enough so you can text it or email it. Also, if possible, send us cell phone photos of your most recent dental x-rays.

Phase 3 'treatment begins' - If your teeth are healthy, you do not even need a shot, and it usually takes us about 3 hours to complete. If you need a lot of dental work, it takes longer. However, Dr. Sam Muslin has been practicing for over 43 years and has a vast level of experience with bite corrections that are proven on his www.FaceLiftDentistry.com website. He has more examples of successful case studies than any other dentist we know of.

It takes 2 to 3 weeks to complete the porcelain restorations, so most patients fly home. Some patients pay additionally to get their porcelain restorations done in just one week, but most patients fly home.

Phase 4 'seeing your new teeth in your mouth before they are bonded' - We want you to see what you are getting before they are bonded. Changes can usually be made overnight. The upper teeth are bonded one day, the lower the next day, and then we spend two days 'tuning' the bite and the cosmetics to your own personal style. Most patients are happy, comfortable, and love how they feel.

Porcelain crowns require grinding down your teeth, which could cause failure in a variety of ways. You may require root canal treatment because the drilling traumatized the nerve. Your crowns could fall off because there is not enough tooth remaining. Your teeth could be hot and cold-sensitive and also be sensitive with chewing pain. Dentists have a very difficult time with locating the ideal jaw position. Patients have a difficult time dealing with the consequences of having all of their teeth drilled down.

Smile Makeovers with Porcelain Veneers, don't correct bites, they are mostly about improving your smile. The problem with porcelain veneers is that the lower front teeth wear down faster. Patients with veneers usually have premature aging. The bite usually stays the same, the profile is the same, and the shape of the face stays the same. The advantage to smile makeovers is that they are cheaper because less teeth are treated. You pay less because you get less, and there are usually no health benefits.

Jaw Surgery and Years of Braces take a very long time and you have no idea if you are going to be comfortable with the bite or with the shape of your face and jawline. Sometimes you do not heal as planned. The beauty of the Face Lift Dentistry method is that it is safer, done much faster, and is far more predictable with less risk.

Face Lift Dentistry is predictable health care. Patients that don't have the time to waste on unpredictable care and don't want their teeth cut down now have a choice of treatment that is safer. First, the optimized bite correction JawTrac jaw position is located. Then VENLAY Restorations add a new surface to your teeth that protect them with a new high-tech layer. Each one is individually crafted to fit the teeth and is designed to improve the jaw position at the same time.

Dr. Sam Muslin has a state of the art dental office in Santa Monica California and has been practicing in that location for over 30 years. In 1996, he received the 'Master of the Academy of General Dentistry' award. At that time less than 1,000 'Masters' had been honored out of the 150,000 practicing dentists during the last 34 years! He is a Doctor of Dental Surgery and his dental practice is centered on the delivery of Face Lift Dentistry treatment which creates an improved bite, maximized oral health and a youthful rejuvenated and proportionally balanced look for the entire face.

You may be wondering about Dr. Muslin 's name. 'Muslin' is of Austrian decent and it was originally spelled 'Musulin'. When Dr. Muslin 's father joined the United States Marine Corps the military misspelled his last name. He was unable to correct the spelling and as a result the family name went from 'Musulin' to 'Muslin'.

Dr. Muslin's patients come from Santa Monica, Venice, Culver City, Playa Del Rey, Marina Del Rey, Mar Vista, El Segundo, West Los Angeles, Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Century City, Westwood, LA, Bel-Air, Brentood, Hollywood Riviera, Hollywood, Pacific Palisades, Topanga, Malibu, Pasadena, Burbank, Highland Park, Los Feliz, Silver Lake, Holmby Hills, San Fernando Valley, Calabasas, Encino, Canoga Park, Van Nuys,Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, Camarillo, Ventura, Oxnard, Santa Barbara, Orange County, San Diego, Chatsworth, and San Francisco. Some of his international patients have come from Singapore, England, France, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, China, Russia, Ukraine, Mexico, India, and South Africa.

Dr. Sam Muslin trademarked theFace Lift Dentistrybite correctionmethod as 'the non-surgical and non-invasive mechanical synchronization of the ideal jaw position, bite andTMJ functionthat idealizes the shape of the patient 's face, profile and their physical comfort'. When a patient can benefit from the Face Lift Dentistrybite correction method, they are getting a defined standard of bite correction with a specific method usingJawTrac andVENLAYRestorations.

Bite adjustments, equilibrations, porcelain veneers, porcelain crowns, and orthodontics are dental treatments which are offered to patients as Bite Correction. The cosmetic dentist, anti-aging dentist, or bite specialist can claim bite correction with almost any dental procedure they provide as there is no officially defined specialty or procedure.

First lets talk about obvious dental problems. Patients with obvious symptoms have underbites and cross bites and large lower jaws. The opposite of underbites are overbites with over jets and short round faces with small looking lower jaws and chins.

Bite correction can be accomplished with a high tech method that is safe, predictable and painless. It has been so effective and successful that even young patients with overbites, crossbites, TMJ pain and underbites are avoiding risky jaw surgery and getting their bite corrected with VENLAY Restorations which idealize the jaw position, correct the bite to the TMJ and get a new and improved shape to their faces and facial profiles.

When patients get headaches, clicking and popping jaw joints, age prematurely and are grinding their teeth at night they have a bite disorder. A bite disorder relates to the position of the lower jaw in relation to the upper jaw and to both TMJ joints. Bite correction has been a highly invasive procedure called a full mouth reconstruction. However, there is a much safer and more predictable method that does not require grinding down healthy teeth or bite correction surgery.

The majority of the adult population (approximately 80%) have a misaligned bite and many of them are not even aware of the tension and stress it causes. Some people have back pain and dont equate it is coming from their muscle tension from their bad bite. Some dentists say it is from oral compression habits but the real cause is a compromised position of the lower jaw caused by a bad bite.

Patients with misaligned teeth also have a malocclusion of the teeth because they lack ideal jaw alignment. Surgeons want to treat jaw correction with jaw surgery. Some patients get headaches and their dentist told them that they had a good bite because they had a class 1 occlusion and 1 millimeter of overbite. But the dentist did not understand that they needed bite correction because the jaw position created a functional disharmony with the TMJ.

Buckteeth are general related to a misaligned jaw and sometimes gum disease. Buckteeth can be corrected with a variety of innovative ways as each patient may have a different solution. The important factor to consider is that buckteeth can be treated in as little as two weeks, depending on the circumstances. Dr. Sam Muslin has been highly successful with his various types of treatment for buckteeth and with over 30 years of experience, his unique expertise has benefited many patients.

People that want to live their lives to the fullest get their jaw position idealized. These patients want to feel better every day and reducing tension and stress should be one of the highest priorities.

When the patient's jaw position is idealized to the TMJ and upper teeth the health benefits improve the quality of their lives. The importance of the jaw position cannot be overstated because patients with the optimized jaw position look younger than most other people near their age. The importance of jaw, bite, and TMJ harmony reduces tension, stress, headaches, pain and premature aging.

We are living a lot longer and there is no reason to age prematurely or suffer physically from a worn down bite. Too many seniors cannot speak clearly, chew properly, sleep normally or wake up refreshed because they dont have room for their tongues. Bite correction treatment for adults is not only a cosmetically pleasing effort but a healthy improvement effort that can change the quality of their lives. Invisalign cannot reconstruct worn down teeth and porcelain veneers cannot correct bites. Braces cannot improve the color or the shape of the teeth. Any of these procedures for bite correction are marginal at best. True bite correction is about idealizing the jaw position with JawTrac bite correction, no tooth prep VENLAY Restorations and the Face Lift Dentistry method for a healthy bite and appearance.

Bite correction is one of the most critical components to achieve maximum health, yet it is rarely considered unless the patient needs a lot of dental work. Most patients think of tooth decay and gum disease when they think of dental health but they are missing one of the most important aspects of their health: a healthy harmonized jaw and bite.

Far too often, the baby boomer generation is living with worn down short yellow teeth without understanding how much better they could live with their teeth restored. They are not aware that this treatment can be achieved without grinding down the patients healthy teeth. It is essentially a non-invasive treatment without surgery or braces.

The way the teeth fit together determines the level of neuromuscular stress in the head and neck region. Some patients are not aware of the amount of stress they have in their lives from worn and misaligned teeth. Other patients have TMJ pain; headaches, neck and back pain and are acutely aware of the daily stress and discomfort.

The third dimension of bite correction involves the shape of the patients face. During Dr. Sam Muslins exclusive Face Lift Dentistry treatment without surgery, the patient can experience the reversal of premature aging, better lip support, facial support and a remarkable improvement in the chin and facial profile.

Dr. Muslins approach to facial health and aesthetics with his unique method and technology applied to his Face Lift Dentistry treatment has influenced the way cosmetic dentistry sees patients and how it will treat patients in the future.

This is only part of the treatment in his office, because he believes that every patient can be idealized for their face, bone structure, TMJ and speaking patterns that goes back to the behavior they had at a younger age. This level of care is revolutionary because the patient does not have to sacrifice their healthy tooth structure and can have the shape and jaw position corrected to levels that most never though was possible without having to go through disruptive surgery.

Treatment was completed in just three weeks with this revolutionary alternative to orthognathic surgery. All of the upper teeth have porcelain crowns and porcelain veneers while all of her lower teeth are completely natural that were reshaped.

Her lower teeth were reshaped but otherwise left as natural teeth while all of the upper teeth have porcelain crowns or porcelain veneers to complete her jaw surgery alternative treatment.

This option should be provided to every patient that needs underbite treatment in addition to a surgery option. Sometimes the surgical option is the best treatment but to avoid the surgery, many patients have willing to gain a significant improvement without the risks to surgery.

In the before photo on the left she has porcelain veneers and cosmetic dentistry. It is evident that her jaw is not in the best position. Porcelain veneers often aggravate a bad bite. In the after photo she was treated with VENLAY Restorations and the Face Lift Dentistry method.

Porcelain veneers are bonded to the outside of the upper teeth to make the smaller maxilla appear larger. Porcelain veneers can not correct your misaligned bite. Porcelain veneers do not improve the shape of the patient 's face and do not improve the patient 's facial profile. Most dentists that advertise, 'fix your bite with porcelain veneers' cannot use the words 'correct the bite' because they know they are using 'cosmetic camouflage' instead of dental health care and bite correction. The dangers of veneers are that the TMJ bite problems have not been corrected. Porcelain veneers are mostly highly invasive that cause problems long term. Seeing that we are living longer than ever before, more problems manifest in later years.

Technically there is no Bite Specialist Dentist or Bite Correction Specialist as these are not recognized dental qualifications. However, Prosthodontics is a specialty of the dental profession that treats bite problems. These dentists usually get a year or two of extended training on thetraditional methods of bite correction. The training most dentists received requires grinding down all of your healthy teeth for a full mouth reconstruction. They also perform bite adjustments or equilibrations, make night guards etc. Most cosmetic dentists, anti-aging dentists & neuromuscular dentists get limited training on bite correction dentistry, TMJ pain and cosmetic dentistry but, again they are usingtraditional methods of grinding down healthy teethfor a bite reconstruction, or use orthotics, or Invisalign etc.

Bite correction dentists, TMJ dentists and orthodontists focus on TMJ pain, crooked teeth, misaligned teeth and bite correction problems using various methods such as drugs, TENs Units and computers to try to find the proper bite for their patients. Orthodontists use braces with or without jaw surgery. Other methods used to find the correct bite include orthotics, trigger point injections, acupuncture, chiropractors, exercises and message.

Many patients cannot be treated or have already been treated with the previously mentioned methods and are unhappy. Many patients reject jaw surgery with years of braces and dont want their teeth ground down with the dental drill for bite correction. Dentistry needed a less invasive, less risky, quicker and less painful way to treat patients for bite correction. Dentistry also needed to get results that go beyond traditional teachings of Centric Relation and Opening the Vertical Dimension. What about the shape of the patients face and facial profile?

The key advantage to non-invasive bite correction dentistry is that it does not require grinding down healthy teeth and it can be tested in advance of treatment. You cannot test jaw surgery, or braces on a patient that has had all of their teeth ground down to little pegs in advance of treatment because the damage has been done. Dentistry needed a method to allow almost everyone to experience the ideal jaw position for their facial characteristics. These patients will look younger than others at the same age. They sleep more soundly because there is more space for their tongues, they have less head and neck tension. They can speak more clearly because the face has permanent support. They experience fewer headaches, less neck pain and have better chewing efficiency. This is possible with JawTrac Bite Correction, VENLAY Restorations and the Face Lift Dentistry Method.

Finding the most ideal jaw position for a patient is a critical component of bite correction. Dr. Sam Muslin developed the ability to locate and test the new jaw position in advance of treatment. He named and trademarked JawTrac. For the first time, patients can be tested in advance; they will be able to see the improvement in their faces and facial profiles on the first visit and experience the optimized jaw position at home. Dr. Sam Muslin also has imaging with ultra-low exposure to allow him to track the new jaw position. He can track the jaw from the patients existing bite to the new jaw position with JawTrac. The patient will be able to see the improved shape of their new face, their new facial profile, improved jawline and test the comfort level without drilling, pain or surgery.

By developing a method to treat the patient without grinding down healthy teeth a new restoration needed to be developed that Dr. Sam Muslin named the VENLAY Restoration. In order to be able to bond this non-invasive restoration for bite correction to the patients healthy teeth he had to improve the traditional bonding method. Dr. Muslin found that by adding a couple of steps to the bonding process he could improve bonding strength significantly. Now almost everyone can experience bite optimization without the risks of traditional treatment.

This exclusive, trademarked, non-invasive, non-surgical bite correction method is called Face Lift Dentistry. Dr. Sam Muslin has found the treatment highly predictable because he can test the results in advance. His patients know before any work is done if they are going to be more comfortable with the new jaw position he is testing. If their headaches are relieved, if they feel less tension, if the neck pain is less, the patient and the doctor know they are on the right track. The biggest benefit of Face Lift Dentistry is that far more people can be treated. Healthy teeth are not ground down, so the treatment has less risk, less pain, and the outcome is more predictable.

Younger patients and senior patients are now getting bite correction dentistry that optimizes their faces and their smiles, simply because it is much less invasive. Far more patients can have the benefits of a more prominent jawline. More patients can have a smaller looking lower jaw for the under bite correction. Even the senior patients can look years younger and now be treated without surgery, braces and drilling down their teeth. Many patients have short worn down teeth and crooked teeth that can be restored with VENLAY Restorations without grinding their teeth down for porcelain crowns and without braces. The younger patients that have never had a cavity can now have optimized non-invasive bite correction treatment built right on top of their healthy teeth for TMJ problems, overbites, avoiding jaw surgery and underbite correction.

When the top teeth overlap the bottom teeth, you have an overbite. It is common for overbite patients to have faces that are short and round in appearance, with a small chin, which is mostly a result of their malocclusion. Many patients have an aesthetic 'grumpy look,' even if they do not feel grumpy. It is common for patients with an overbite to have inward slanted teeth, TMJ pain, and jaw problems.

Modern technology offers a treatment that can address overbite problems fast in as little as 8-days, without braces or clear aligners, no surgery, no teeth extraction, with outstanding aesthetic, anti-aging, and health benefits. Dr. Sam Muslin believes that the best jaw position is essential to ensure optimum facial support and is the secret to looking younger for the rest of your life.

Orthodontic treatment options for overbite correction have not been very appealing. Patients have gone through braces; sometimes more than once, others tried clear aligners. Some seek help from neuromuscular dentists who often drill down teeth to little pegs when trying to correct the overbite with crowns, caps, and veneers. Fortunately, overbites can now be treated fast and effectively in just 8-days with the revolutionary Face Lift Dentistry method. This non-invasive treatment for overbites is a proven, non-surgical, no braces, no extractions, no grinding-down healthy teeth solution, which can be completed without any downtime or drugs for most patients, which is arguably the most natural overbite treatment available today.

If you find yourself grinding and clenching before or after treatment with braces or bite reconstruction, it could be a sure sign that your TMJ and jaw are not in the optimum position. Unless the jaw and bite are optimized to the TMJ and facial structures to minimize tension, the body has to function with a compromised jaw position for the rest of your life.

We see patients after treatment with braces that relapsed, after clear aligners that made things worse, after orthognathic surgery that was not successful, after porcelain veneers that were sensitive, and after bite reconstructions that required all of the teeth to be ground down. Other patients are simply experiencing the natural aging process, which could cause a deep bite and receding chin, breathing and sleeping problems, and cosmetic issues.

One of the most remarkable breakthroughs in modern dentistry is the Face Lift Dentistry Method, which gives patients a functional and comfortable jaw position plus aesthetic benefits seldom seen with porcelain veneers and cosmetic dentistry, all without braces, orthodontic hardware, overbite surgery, and without the need to extract or drill down healthy teeth.

Treatment with the Face Lift Dentistry method ensures that your jaw is in the most ideal, functional, and comfortable position. It is critical to get this part right. If a dentist is not using JawTrac jaw alignment, chances are they are just guessing or relying on computed data. Dr. Muslin developed the JawTrac Ideal Jaw Position Technology to allow him to see and optimize the jaw in real-time, rather than guessing. With JawTrac, each of our patients tests this new jaw position while wearing the removable JawTrac jaw positioner. Our patients know this is going to work before treatment starts.

Once the jaw position is tested and the patient says they love it, Dr. Muslin personally designs the cosmetic elements. VENLAY Bite Restorations are high-tech ultra-thin porcelain layers individually bonded over your healthy teeth to optimize your bite, improve the shape of your teeth, and ensures support for your new jawline.

This new porcelain layer gives you a wider smile, ideally shaped and angled teeth with the right color to augment your complexion, improve your profile, balance the proportions of your face, optimize your jawline, and improve your health through improved tongue-space and breathing, relieve stress and tension, help reduce headaches, jaw pain and reverse facial collapse.

Reversing Short Round Faces The lower jaw usually closes too close to the nose causing facial collapse, a recessive chin, or a short round face. Older patients have short round faces, and younger patients have egg-shaped faces. Reversing the short round face is accomplished with JawTrac to locate the ideal jaw position and VENLAY to maintain that position using the Face-lift Dentistry Method.

Porcelain Veneers Dont Improve Chins Sizes or Facial Profiles Smile dentistry and cosmetic dentistry do not improve the jaw position and subsequently cannot relieve TMJ pain, improve chin size or facial profiles. They are OK when you smile, but the other 95% of the time, they do nothing for you.

Small Chins Small-looking chins are really much larger chins that look smaller. A more severe overbite pushes the chin back, making the lower jaw (or mandible) appear smaller. This treatment method allows the chin to appear larger by moving the recessed jaw to a healthy position without pain, force or overbite jaw surgery, using JawTrac. When you have an overbite, the jaw position is unhealthy. The goal of JawTrac is to find and experience a healthy jaw position.

Reduce Sleeping Problems Overbites push the jaw back, which causes narrowing of the airway. When the airway is narrow, sleeping problems are a result. Our patients tell us that they are sleeping better, feeling better, have more energy and looking better with VENLAY Bite Restoration.

Stunning Cosmetic Benefits This treatment improves the shape, proportions, and support for the entire face. This is way beyond porcelain veneers and cosmetic smile-type dentistry. We improve your health and function and at the same time get stunning cosmetic benefits.

Non-Invasive Dentistry This method of non-invasive dentistry is nothing short of a dental miracle compared to any other choice available to our patients. Orthodontics cannot achieve this level of result. This is why we treat so many younger patients because their teeth are saved and so many mature patients because saving their tooth structure means no shots, no dental drilling, and much less pain.

TMJ Pain Most of the patients we see with TMJ pain dont realize that it is caused by their bad bite and unhealthy jaw position. This treatment is a physical solution for a physical problem that reduces or eliminates multiple types of TMJ pain and headaches. For these patients, the enormous cosmetic benefits are a bonus.

Cosmetic dentistry is all about the smile. But, smile-type of dentistry does nothing for your bite or the shape of your face. Cosmetic dentistry can straighten uneven teeth or whiten your smile by using porcelain veneers, crowns, braces, and clear aligners but can't improve your jawline, chin, or facial profile.

Sam Muslin DDS - Cosmetic dentist, General dentist in Santa Monica, CA

Veneers on the left with a shorter face, small chin, facial collapse, and a deep bite. On the right, a masculine chiseled chin and jawline, facial support, TMJ Functionality, and incredible aesthetics. The only teeth that required drilling were his teeth with porcelain veneers.

The patient featured in these before-after photos wasted his money getting porcelain veneers on his upper teeth. The attempt to fix his overbite with veneers failed. He has them in the photo on the left. Dr. Muslin showed the patient what his new face would look like on his first visit before the treatment was started. His porcelain veneers were removed, temporaries placed, and his overbite was corrected when the 28 VENLAY Restorations were bonded to his upper and lower teeth.

The non-surgical, no braces, and no drilling down healthy teeth solution using VENLAY Restoration with JawTrac Alignment is the ultimate option for overbite correction. There is no downtime, no surgery, no hospitalization, no braces, far less if any pain, and no clear aligners. The cost is roughly comparable with the overdiagnosed surgical method, followed by braces or clear aligners. It comes with the added benefit of aesthetic excellence, something that surgery, braces, clear aligners, and porcelain veneers cannot achieve.

Before treatment starts, you will experience your new jaw position and see the shape of your new face and profile with JawTrac Testing. You cannot test or experience surgery or braces. The Face Lift Dentistry Method works well for patients that have already had surgery and braces that are unhappy with their results. This method has been successful for patients between 14 and 93 years of age, treating all types of bite issues, misaligned jaws, underbites, TMJ issues, sleeping problems, and premature aging. It is the new age of non-invasive high-tech treatment.

Dr, Muslin treats patients from all over the United States, Canada, and other parts of the world. The results that he has been able to achieve in such a short period of time have, as his patients have said, 'Transformed my life.'

An overbite or deep bite is defined by the degree of overlap of the upper jaw and teeth, and lower jaw and teeth. A normal bite has a degree of overlap that would be about one or two millimeters, which is not regarded as an overbite or malocclusion.

A deep bite, also referred to as a vertical overbite or severe overbite, is approximately four to ten millimeters deep, and is considered a malocclusion, which requires treatment. When an overbite is deep, the patient's chin is generally recessive or pushed back towards the throat, thereby decreasing breathing, sleeping, and it is also associated with TMJ problems.

Overbites cause a recessive mandible because the lower teeth are forced behind the upper teeth pushing the lower jaw back, which changes the shape of the patient's face to a round shape. As the teeth wear down from clenching, grinding, and jaw misalignment, the worn-down teeth make the overbite and facial collapse get worse over time. The lower jaw or mandible is closing too far which changes the shape of the patient's face and profile

Overbites are caused by hereditary or genetics, shaped by the natural eruption of teeth, which are random events. Teeth erupt while the patient is still growing, and stop erupting when they hit an opposing tooth. There is no science to predict or manage the natural process of tooth eruption, so overbites, malocclusions, bad bites, underbites, and deep overbites are common.

Chronic habits such as thumb sucking can contribute to an overbite because the thumb pushes the upper teeth too far forward of the lower teeth causing maxillary protrusion or overjet. Sometimes tongue thrusting habits can contribute to a bad bite because the tongue will actually push the teeth into a malocclusion called a maxillary protrusion. The thumb will actually push the upper teeth and bone forward while the thumb also pushes the lower jaw backward.

If a patient already has a deep overbite, as they age, their teeth wear down and will cause the overbite to get deeper. Patients with a tongue thrust do not speak clearly because they use their tongue for speaking and no amount of speech therapy will help the patient as much as getting the teeth, bite and facial proportioning balanced. The form of the teeth affects the function of the face.

Even a slight overbite could become problematic over time. As the overbite increases, typically due to teeth wear, the available tongue space decreases. Bad overbites result in a less than optimal jaw position, facial profile and TMJ stress.

Most people with overbites don't sleep as well and don't breathe as well as they could because there is reduced tongue space. Also, the overbite causes a recessive small-looking chin and a weak jawline because the overbite forces the lower jaw back and allows the jaw to close too close to the nose.

Correcting an overbite with braces or clear aligners is still the most popular correction method, and treatment will take approximately one year. After treatment with aligners or braces, the teeth may shift again, and the overbite could return.

Surgery is often recommended as the only option when braces failed. Today, quick and predictive overbite correction without the need for braces, surgery, or teeth extractions is available, although more costly than traditional methods.

The most natural overbite treatment rules out orthodontic braces, elastics or rubber bands, clear aligners, and jaw surgery. The treatment would also need to be done non-invasively, which rules out cosmetic dentistry with porcelain veneers (which will worsen the overbite), full mouth reconstructions, and porcelain crowns because all of the healthy teeth are usually cut down with a drill.

A natural overbite treatment would need to be non-surgical, so you cannot cut teeth down with a dental drill, and you cannot cut the jaw down with a surgeon's scalpel. The only treatment available that provides a natural and effective overbite treatment is the Face Lift Dentistry method, and it does far more than just correct an overbite.

When your upper teeth cover over your lower teeth as you bite your teeth together, you have an overbite. One to two millimeters of overlap is considered normal. The larger the overlap, the smaller your chin may appear. We have found that the chin is often normal-sized, just forced into an abnormal position by the overbite.

Bite adjustment improves the quality of life. Most patients do not realize that the shape of their face is being determined by their malocclusion or a bad bite. Most patients do not understand the relationship of jaw pain, TMJ pain, tooth wear, facial pain, the aging face, the short face, and the classic malocclusion or bad bite.

Without the correct bite, the patients speech is less than clear because the patient has to accommodate their jaw position for all the various types of functions such as speaking, chewing, clenching, and grinding. Generally, patients with deep overbites have lower self-esteem because their entire face, head, and neck are not functioning harmoniously.

The lack of functional harmony contributes to small-looking lower jaws, short lower faces, thin lips, and a small chin appearance. Deep overbites cause the faces to look short and the chins to look small. Deep overbites cause the facial profiles to have the appearance of a recessive chin, and the patients tend to have short round faces typical of an older person.

Premature aging is a common side effect of an untreated overbite. So are facial wrinkles, headaches, jaw tension, neck stress, poor posture, small looking chins, slurry speaking, and the lower teeth usually erupt into the upper palate.

We are living decades longer than ever before, and patients with overbites are suffering from poor sleep, their teeth are worn down, and they are clenching and grinding a lot. The teeth, their faces, and jawlines say, 'this person does not sleep well.'

Treatment should be started as early as possible to minimize the severity of the overbite. People are living a lot longer today and, the strain from malocclusion decreases the quality of life and the health of the patient.

Non-surgical correction with Dr. Sam Muslin's VENLAY Restorations has been successfully completed on patients as young as 17 years of age and as old as 93 years of age. Because it can be completed with much less tooth grinding, braces or surgery, more patients of all age groups can benefit.

Not likely, according to Dr. Sam Muslin. There is no evidence that overbites cause gum problems. We see overbite patients with periodontal disease and many overbite patients without it. There is no correlation with an overbite. With the front teeth overlapping the bottom teeth, excessive wear of tooth enamel is possible, which may lead to tooth decay which in turn could irritate the gum and cause gingivitis or periodontitis.

A dental overbite is when the lower jaw closes too far and is pushed back towards the ears by the upper teeth, the chin looks small, and the shape of the face is round. This is the most common overbite and can be corrected without jaw surgery or braces in as little as one to three weeks.

Yes, you can get braces or clear aligners to fix an overbite in some cases. Dr. Muslin provided braces for his younger and older patients for nearly 20 years. However, now he has a much more reliable method to fix an overbite. There is a possibility that braces (or Invisalign) can fix an overbite, at least temporarily. By far too many people are being told they need both jaw surgery and braces. Unfortunately, there are a large number of patients that were told they needed surgery to correct their overbite after the braces were started. Then there are many patients that had braces and ended up with a worse bite shortly after the braces were taken off. Today, there is a much more highly successful and predictable non-surgical and non-invasive method for overbite treatment that has many advantages over braces and surgery.

Before committing to treatment, you would want to know how long it takes to fix an overbite and how it may impact your daily life. Here is a broad overview of the various overbite correction methods and treatment time:

  • Braces or Aligners can take between 18-months and 3-years. Orthodontics may not be the best method of treating overbites in adults, as bite stability problems may cause a relapse, and the overbite could come back.
  • Orthognathic Jaw Surgery could require 2 to 12 weeks of healing time with an additional 18-months to 3-years of orthodontics pre-and post-surgery. The outcome of overbite surgery is unpredictable and may require further surgery.
  • JawTrac Jaw Alignment without surgery, braces or aligners, preserves your healthy teeth and can be completed in as little as 8-days, with no downtime. The ideal jaw position is tested before treatment commences, and the outcome is highly predictable. This is arguably the fastest way to fix an overbite.
  • Porcelain veneers or dental laminates can lengthen teeth but cannot correct an overbite or improve the jawline, shape of the face, malocclusion or chin size. If the dentist makes your front teeth longer, then the depth of the overbite becomes worse. The upper porcelain veneers also wear down the natural lower teeth, causing the jaw to sink back even faster. Porcelain veneers have mainly one purpose; it is to cover the outside of the tooth to change the color and the shape of the teeth.

The overbite cannot be corrected by working on only some of the upper or lower teeth. An overbite cannot be corrected if only six teeth are going to be treated. Most patients want porcelain veneers to magically and inexpensively solve the overbite problem but, a traditional porcelain veneer cannot correct an overbite.

To correct the bite and improve a small-looking chin, all of the teeth need to have a new chewing surface, height and shape for the lower jaw to be repositioned. Most people with overbites have short round faces and a small-looking chin. Porcelain veneers or porcelain crowns on the front teeth cannot improve the jawline, face, overbite or chin size. You need VENLAY Bite Restorations on all of your upper teeth and, most of the time, all of your lower teeth to get the best overbite treatment.

Most TMJ specialists, neuromuscular dentists, prosthodontists, and general Dentists need to drill down every one of your healthy teeth to correct an overbite with crowns. Drilling down healthy teeth is a destructive process that harms the health of your teeth. It can be a painful process, requires hours of drilling, leaves the teeth vulnerable to infection, can result in chewing pain, hot and cold sensitivity, and it can traumatize the nerves and may require your previously healthy teeth to get root canal treatment to relieve the pain.

Once the teeth are drilled away, it can become very difficult to get the ideal jaw position because the mouth was opened for so long, the teeth are numb from all of those shots, and most patients have no idea where they should close what is left of their teeth together.

Apart from sensitivity issues, another problem caused by drilling away your healthy teeth is the way it affects the jaw position. Traditional dentistry will open the bite, which does not necessarily get the lower jaw in the ideal jaw position. When the bite is opened, and the vertical dimension is increased, the lower jaw is usually manipulated into what dentists call centric-relation. Keep in mind that opening the vertical and getting centric-relation does not mean that the ideal jaw position is even being attempted.

If you follow the old traditional route of orthodontics using braces or clear aligners, it could take anything from a few months to more than a year. With orthognathic jaw surgery, you will most likely have to wear braces before and after your surgery.

As your back teeth wear down, the overlap deepens, causing a more severe overbite. The upper front teeth overlap the lower front teeth more as the back teeth get shortened from wear. With most overbites, the lower teeth front teeth move up, and the lower back teeth wear down, which causes the jaw to be pushed back. The small chin and facial profile also worsen. As the bite deepens, the airway generally gets smaller, so sleeping problems, TMJ issues, neck tension, and jaw pain can also develop. Usually, as we age, the overbite causes speaking problems, and the words get more slurry sounding.

I am a dentist who graduated from a prominent California Dental School in 2020. I recently consulted Sam Muslin, DDS for purely cosmetic reasons to treat my underbite. Dr. Muslin advertises and markets non-invasive dentistry to treat malocclusion cases without orthodontics, surgery, anesthetics, or the use of temporaries. I had no prior TMD, or problems in eating or speaking before Dr. Muslin cemented 28 of his Venlays which impaired my eating, speaking, and caused TMD. Dr. Muslin placed 28 of his "Venlays" on me in 2 days. A full mouth rehabilitation like mine ordinarily would take many more visits by a skilled prosthodontist. The American Dental Association accredits prosthodontists as restorative dentistry specialists. Dr. Muslin is a general dentist who lacks the three years of postgraduate dental training prosthodontist specialists obtain. I expected after receiving a permanent full mouth rehab, which Dr. Muslin represented to be thoroughly tested, that there would only be minor adjustments to achieve functionality and esthetics. This was far from reality in my case. Shortly after Dr. Muslin cemented my 28 Venlays, I developed severe headaches, myofascial pain, TMD, difficulty in eating and speaking, all of which persisted even after his multiple excessive bite adjustments. Dr. Muslin caused irreversible damage to at least 11 of my teeth. Dr. Muslin denied responsibility for damaging my gums resulting from his leaving excess cement between my teeth after he cemented his Venlays. Instead, he blamed the cause of my bleeding gums on my oral hygiene. My teeth have lost their natural sheen, and I have lost trust in dental professionals from feeling betrayed and taken advantage of. Dr. Muslin's treatment caused the worst dental state I have ever been in my entire life. My care has since been taken over by a prosthodontist and orofacial pain specialist. Each diagnosed overcontoured restorations impeding flossing, excessive VDO (Vertical Dimension of Occlusion), excessively ground down restorations, malocclusion, and TMD. No matter how many more bite adjustments Dr. Muslin would have done, Dr. Muslin could not have restored me to my previously stable painless condition. Dr. Muslin's excessive bite adjustments flattened the biting surfaces of his Venlays which impaired my chewing efficiency. When I requested Dr. Muslin compensate me for the damage he caused me, Dr. Muslin offered to refund my money ($77,777). But in return I would have to sign a Liability Release form that would (a) terminate our doctor patient relationship (b) require confidentiality, (c) forbid me to report Dr. Muslin to any organization, and (d) would not speak of his name and his treatment to any party. I refused to sign his Release to gag me. Instead, I wish to encourage other patients to obtain second opinions before potentially risking ill-designed and maloccluding restorations from Dr. Muslin. This is the reason for my review. The care Dr. Muslin delivers should have been what a careful, prudent, and skillful prosthodontist would deliver. This means practicing with current evidence-based peer reviewed research and Guidelines of American Dental Association and its specialties. Dr. Muslin has not published peer reviewed research to validate the efficacy of his treatment which he gimmickly self-terms as a "Dental Facelift." I have learned the hard way that Dr. Muslin's Facelift Dentistry is too good to be true. I recommend before proceeding with Dr. Muslin to obtain a second opinion from a prosthodontist dentist specialist who is a member of the American College of Prosthodontists. Website: gotoapro.org

My already-existing overbite was made much, much worse by horrible "veneers" (actually crowns) done by the charlatan Walter Meden of Draper, UT. Enter Sam Muslin, who not only replaced my clown-like crowns with properly-fitting and realistic-looking ones, but also fixed my overbite! I owe not only my improved appearance, but also my ability to talk and chew to Sam Muslin. Helped me out of a bad situation and left things better than I could have hoped for.

I cannot thank Dr. Muslin enough for fixing my underbite, cross bite, and misaligned jaw without surgery. I have so much more confidence. I've always been told I needed jaw surgery but the Jawtrac Facelift dentistry model is so much better. My teeth were already worn down completely in some areas and not in others because of my bite. My jaw stuck way out and I had to angle my face a certain way constantly and wear my hair a certain way to "kind of" conceal it. Now I feel confident in any hair style. In days my whole life has changed. It's expensive but I would pick this over material things any day of the week. He had lots of covid precautions in place. Thank you again Dr. Muslin!

Dr. Muslin did an absolutely fantastic job on my mouth! I had venlays placed on all of my teeth. He corrected my bite and gave me the facial profile and smile I have always dreamed of. I had TMJ discomfort, deep overbite, small chin, facial collapse, and overall poor profile. I was told by many dentists that I would need to have jaw surgery to fix my bite. Dr Muslin gave me a new bite, jaw position, improved facial profile, and beautiful pearly whites! I am so happy and would do it all over again if I had to. Do not waste your time with other dentists who say they can give you this result. Dr Muslin is simply the best at what he does! Also, A+ team in his office!

Dr. Muslin and the staff are awesome. I had to coordinate my travel schedule and wanted to get it done sooner rather than later. They got me in quickly and the results were astounding. I got a Jawtrac placement for bite issues that were causing all sorts of problems. My day-to-day is a lot better due to less headaches and jaw pain, and I emit more confidence now that my smile is glowing rather than glowering. I am forever grateful for the change they have made in my life.

I visited Dr. Muslin for an initial consultation (about $95). Mainly, I wanted to get his opinion regarding a minor TMJ symptom. Specifically, I was experiencing a popping sensation in my jaw. Prior to my visit, I had done some research to find a number of neuromuscular dentists in the greater Los Angeles area, and decided to go with Dr. Muslin first because he seemed to be offering something completely different than other dentists. I liked the idea of fixing my bite without doing any kind of jaw surgery, so I booked an appointment and drove to Santa Monica. After waiting about thirty or so minutes in my own private room (which was really impressive, might I add), Dr. Muslin finally enters. I explain to him how I'm pretty happy with my smile. I have mostly straight teeth and I'm not very precious about my face. My main objective was, really, to fix my bite for health reasons. His response: "Why not fix both." But I literally just told you I was okay with my smile! I thought in my mind. But I tried to maintain an open mind. First he asked me to count from one to ten while flashing a camera in my mouth. He asked me what I saw on the monitor after freezing the frame, and I was like, "Uh, my bottom teeth are slightly crooked?" He explained that my top lip was covering my upper teeth, a trait common in old people (mind you, I'm 27-years-old, and though my upper teeth are, indeed, on the shorter side, freezing the frame at that strategic moment made the upper teeth appear more invisible than a day-to-day conversation would reflect in reality). About that same time, one of his nurses randomly popped in and I was asked to count from one to ten to her. It felt awkward at best and slightly staged at worst. Besides, I got the point on the monitor, thank you very much. Still, I didn't think Dr. Muslin was wrong, and I kept listening with an open mind expecting him to eventually address what I had came to see him for. Instead, all I heard was the same pitch he gives in his videos, seemingly from rote memory. Namely, that my chin was too close to my nose and that by fixing my bite with his patented Venlays, I could achieve a better facial balance. To illustrate, he put some cotton balls in my mouth and asked me to bite down on them, which simulated what my new jawline would look like with a "more natural" bite. The cost to achieve this ideal? About 80k. To his credit, Dr. Muslin did say even after getting Venlays, there was no guarantee that it would solve the clicking in my jaw. He added that for some of his patients, the clicking did disappear after the jaw moved to an optimal position. In any case, I appreciated his honesty. His Venlays, as expensive as they are, do provide value for the right customer. A non-invasive technology that can fix bites and make teeth more attractive at the same time is brilliant. And far be it from me to criticize a man who is profiting for his ingenuity in a capitalistic society. Personally, I think licensing the technology would make it more accessible and add even more money in his piggy bank, but he seems like a smart man and it's not my place to offer Dr. Muslin business advice. Simply put, I just wasn't the right customer for Dr. Muslin. Not because I couldn't afford what he had to offer (well, truth is, I can't), but because I didn't need it. If you're in the market for the treatment of some minor TMJ symptoms, maybe consider a neuromuscular dentist. But if you have 80k lying around, feel insecure about your smile/face, or feel deathly afraid of undergoing jaw surgery, I think Dr. Muslin's office could be worth a visit.

It's been almost three months since I had Dr. Muslin's amazing Venlays procedure to correct my bite and fix the positioning of my jaw. I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions of my life and I could not be happier with how everything turned out. After years of braces and being told I needed to undergo terrible orthognathic surgery to correct my jaw structure, finding Dr. Muslin and his non-invasive solution was the biggest relief. I couldn't believe that he would be able to fix my jaw by changing my bite, with no braces and no surgery! The amazing thing about Dr. Muslin's approach is that, unlike with surgery or braces, you actually get to try a test plate and see how the procedure would change the positioning of your jaw before having the Venlays put in permanently. My family and I honestly thought it was all too good to be true until they saw the way my face changed and how much better my jaw felt just with the test plate in! We were definitely believers at that point. When I went in to have the Venlays put in permanently, Dr. Muslin and his wonderful staff were so helpful in answering all my questions and making sure I had the best experience possible. I didn't even need any anesthesia or anything, and Dr. Muslin did not grind any of my healthy teeth (which is exactly what dentists do when giving people veneers). The thing about this approach is that Venlays are not really veneers, they go over your healthy teeth and change your bite in a way that completely fixes the positioning of your jaw without breaking it and having to undergo surgery. It's truly a remarkable method that I believe is the future of dentistry. Dr. Muslin's method improved my health by fixing my bite and taking the pressure off my jaw... but not only did it do that, it also had amazing cosmetic benefits. With surgery or braces, you can't guarantee how you will look after everything is done, and some people actually end up looking and feeling worse because their jaw was put in the wrong position. With Dr. Muslin's approach, it's guaranteed that your jaw will move to the right place because he scientifically measures where it should go, and achieves those results by fixing the bite. I look and feel amazing, I've never been more confident in my life, and I have Dr. Muslin to thank for it. If you are told you need surgery to fix a bad bite or jaw position, seriously go to Dr. Muslin's office and save yourself the time, uncertainty, and pain of braces and surgery. This man and his amazing staff changed my life more than words can express, and I will be forever grateful. I could not recommend him more to anyone with similar issues.

I found Dr. Muslin 25 years ago when I was 37 yrs. old and a friend referred me. My father was a successful surgeon in Beverly Hills so he had sent me to all the "best dentists" in Beverly Hills and Brentwood my entire life. I have always had terrible teeth which was inherited from my father. I had cavities in most of my teeth and root canals (poorly done) in many of them as well. Once I found Dr. Muslin the difference was apparent to me immediately. Over the 25 years I have been his patient, he has literally changed my bite, my mouth which has enhanced the quality of my life. First of all, I hate pain and I'm afraid of shots. You never even feel Dr. Muslin's injections. I"m not sure how he does it but you don't feel it. I have always hated going to the dentist as most people do. But Dr. Muslin works quickly and efficiently with a minimal amount of discomfort. I had jaw joint pain, migraine headaches, my entire bite was off, I was grinding my teeth down to nubs, needed more root canals, some veneers and eventually some implants. Dr. Muslin taught me how to take care of my gums and maintain a healthy mouth once he fixed my teeth. After many years, I required Facelift Dentistry which was cutting edge dentistry. The quality and caliber of his work in the 25 yrs. I have been his patient is the gold standard. He is a perfectionist and he masters every procedure he ever does on your teeth and in your mouth. He is a pioneer in his techniques and is always up on the most current technology. He is loves his work and his dedication is evident in every aspect of his job. His office is immaculate and his staff is professional, warm and friendly. I have never had one problem with my teeth since i have been a patient of his. Moreover, there have been times over the years when a temporary broke on a weekend, and Dr. Muslin has come in to fix it. He models dignity and respect. If you are looking for a dentist you can trust to do an excellent job, look no further! Dr. Muslin is the best!

Been to many many dentists, orthodontists..if you told me that my problematic mouth could be fixed in hours, with virtually no pain...and if it were true, I'd travel anywhere. Luckily I only had to go to sunny Santa Monica. I read on Muslin's website that Mondays are reserved for VIPs. hmm, I'm not a VIP, but I loved being treated like one. The office is immaculate. The staff is phenomenal. And, Dr Muslin is the Michael Jordan of dentists. Actually, this isn't even a proper analogy because Jordan was playing the same game as the other ball players. Muslin has actually created a new "game" ..... The "other game" for me would have been years and years. Tons of visits. Dentists, oral surgeons, special type of oral surgeons. Cutting my jaw. Painful, clunky braces. I love my new smile.
