Rupa Govindarajan, DMD, owns and operates Sam Bass Family Dentistry, a private office striving to provide excellent dental care with a personal touch to families in Round Rock and the surrounding communities.
Rupa, or Dr. G as her team and patients call her, graduated from the University of Pittsburgh where she earned her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry. She practiced in Arizona before moving to Texas with her husband and two daughters 8 years ago. Dr. G and her family live in the neighborhood and are proud to serve many friends and neighbors. You may see her husband around the office providing business and IT support, and her girls are impatiently waiting until they are old enough to work alongside their mom.
Dr. G is a strong supporter to the local school district and partner of the PTA and is proud to give back to the community where she lives and works as a part of several non-profit organizations. She serves as the cultural chair of Sai Temple in Cedar Park, and when she is not in the office, she can be found volunteering at local community or events or she may be teaching her native language, Tamil, to children at the Austin Tamil School. Dr. G also puts her dental knowledge and skills to use volunteering with Sacred Heart Community Clinic in Round Rock.
At Sam Bass Family Dentistry patients receive a full range of dental services with a focus on preventative care, general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, restorations and the diagnosis and care of periodontal disease. Dr. G is well qualified to care for infants, children, teens, and adults and is always happy to see the whole family!

A couple of years ago I decided it was time to make sure my teeth and gums were in tip top shape. Picking Dr. G as my dentist was a very rewarding decision. She is simply unlike any health care practitioner I have ever known. She is technically excellent, she is approachable and she makes a point about informing you about dental health. Best of all, she goes out of her way to make sure you are comfortable on a moment to moment basis as she does her work. Thanks to Dr. G, I no longer dread visits to the dentist, and that alone has made a big difference in the success of my pursuit of excellent health. Thank you Dr. G 7-31-19 Update. My teeth are healthier than ever. Dr. G and the fine staff that she employs are still awesome. Thanks again!!! 2-24-22 Update. Dr. G has been keeping my teeth healthy for a long time now. She has watched my son grow up. She has become an old friend. Some of her long time employees too. I have been having a problem the last few months with a loose crown that was first placed when I was a child. It began coming loose when I flossed. I planned on telling Dr. G today when I received my scheduled tooth cleaning. As it turns out, as the old crown was moving around, I was trapping food under it. Though I did not have any pain, there was a mess under that crown. Honestly, it was pretty gross. Why am I telling you this? Because no one said anything to make me feel embarrassed. I am a healthcare professional. I have seen a lot. And I have witnessed all kinds of reactions from health care professionals. It takes a sensitive and focused person to behave the way Dr. G and her staff did. She pointed it out, outlined a simple to understand plan, then got to work. Then she asked how my son was doing in college. All without pause or judgement. Dr. G and her crew of professionals are very special. I am delighted to write this recommendation on Google. Update: I am still very happy with the care given by Dr. G and her wonderful team. Wonderful people who have engaged me in my own dental health in a gentle affirming way. But with remarkable precision and expertise. My teeth are healthy. Approaching my 60s with confidence.
