Dr. Nelsons father was a family dentist for 42 years. Dr. Nelson worked closely with his father for several years until he moved to Vancouver to start a family. Dr. Nelson served as an LDS missionary in Japan for 2 years, and has traveled to small towns in Mexico to provide dentistry for children.

Jess came to us as an intern from the assisting program at PCC and stayed on after graduation as an assistant.She was born and raised in Austin, Texas, graduated with a B.A. from the University of Texas (Hook em!) and relocated to southwest Washington about five years ago. She makes her home in Vancouver with her husband, two stepchildren and two dogs.
Hobbies/interests: In her spare time, you will find Jess skiing in the winter, hiking and camping in the summer, or knitting, sewing and crafting if the weather keeps her indoors. Although she is a Texan through and through, she now loves the rain!

My crown was recently replaced by Dr. Nelson, and it was the most positive experience I've ever had! It was made in the office (3-D printed), was a perfect 100% fit and feel!!! Nothing had to be adjusted!!! Thank you!!!

So glad I found Dr. Nelson. He worked extra hard to provide a pain-free experience. While other dentists claim to do "one appointment" crowns, Dr. Nelson actually did this. There is a 40-minute wait in the middle of your appointment while the crown is being created, but you can sit in the chair and play with your phone during the wait. He also did my X-rays for free after noting that I had been taken advantage of by the unscrupulous "dentist" at Dentist @ Felida, who refused to hand over X-rays in violation of Washington State Board of Dentistry rules. The hygienist I had was very experienced and professional, and did not cause excessive pain. The office staff is also very professional, and they take COVID protocols seriously. Conveniently located above Umpqua Bank with plenty of free parking.

Today I had an emergency where my front tooth broke. They got me in right away. Fixed my tooth within less an hour, so I am able to smile again. Dr. Nelson is the best.

I've had dozens of dentists ( some excellent and some not so much ) in my life and Dr Nelson is the best in my opinion. Premium quality with kindness, superb skill with soft spoken patience. Truly top tier care ! Entire staff as well

This was my first appointment at Salmon Creek Family Dental. The office was clean and modern. Pandemic rules were closely followed. Dr. Hanson was very thorough in his exam, and explained everything. Going back for a cleaning in a few weeks.

After not going to the dentist in too long, I was very nervous to return. Salmon Creek Family Dental made this experience stress-free and even enjoyable. Everyone I interacted with made sure to explain what was happening, what would happen next, and why each action was being performed. They answered all my questions with kindness and understanding. I'm actually looking forward to my next visit!

Salmon Creek Family Dental is fantastic. Let me just say I was extremely nervous seeing a dentist as it had been a while. I cannot express enough just how friendly, professional, and welcoming this dentist office is. The staff is phenomenal and polite, and Dr. Nelson himself is just fantastic. He was very gentle with my sensitive teeth, updated me what he was doing frequently, and answered any questions I had. I have had a fear of the dentist for many years but this place is like finding an unknown gem of a restaurant that you only want to tell your close friends about! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new dentist!

I visited Dr Nelson and his team for my initial exam as we just moved to this area. The first thing that caught my eye on the search was the CEREC capability. This is the ONLY way to get a crown. One visit and done. The entire staff at this office is very pleasant and knowledgeable. From the initial appointment phone call, xrays, and exam. Dr Nelson is very patient and does not rush. He explains every step and finding. The front desk went over my insurance info so there will be no surprises. I'm very pleased to have found a terrific dental office!
