Standards of care vary around the world. As Sacramento Dentists, we are committed to providing the highest quality of care in the most comfortable way possible. By staying up to date with the ever-changing field of dentistry and by using the latest techniques and technologies, we are able to deliver you the highest standard of dental care.

In addition to being clinicians, we are educators. We have spent many years learning the science and art of dentistry and are passionate about it. We want to involve you in the process of your health care and help you to make the best decisions. We do this by teaching you about your treatment options and setting aside time for you and the dentist to discuss all of your questions.

We strive to create a positive environment every hour of every day. We do this for our clients, families, our friends, neighbors, and ourselves. We bring our best to work and we work our best. Everyday.

The environment of her office was appealing. It was calm, cozy and comfortable there. Her treatment of patients was an inspiration. She was able to stop pain and create new smiles and confidence, changing lives with her dedicated work. I decided to study dentistry and I have never regretted it not even once!

Dr. Castro attended Pontifical Xavierian University in Bogota, Colombia. Established in 1623, the institution is one of the oldest in the Western Hemisphere. After earning her dental degree, Dr. Castro went on to study endodontics. Endodontists specialize inroot canal proceduresand repairing cracked or damaged teeth.

She enjoyed nineteen years of private practice in Colombia and also served there as a teacher of endodontics. Although shes too modest to mention it in her biography, Dr. Castro was called upon by Colombian officials to write a manual for endodontics, along with three of her dental colleagues. The result is the official guide for all general dentists working for the Colombian government.

While she enjoyed her work and life, the deteriorating political and security situation in Colombia weighed heavily on her family. Kidnappings by guerrillas are increasingly a threat and violence and instability nationwide creates a questionable future for young people. For the sake of their children, the Castros decided it was time for a change of location.

Fortunately for Dr. Castro and for dental patients in California, the United States has an immigration program that brings qualified dentists to serve specific populations in this country. The program helped Dr. Castro gain her certification as a dentist in the United States. Then, working through a company that specializes in helping low-income families get dental care, she came to the State of California in 2008.

The doctors at the Sacramento Dentistry Group became familiar with Dr. Castros work and extensive experience and welcomed her to work with their dental office. Eventually, when Dr. Brian Steele, the remaining founder, was interested in selling the practice, she even became the new director of the dental group. Her past leadership roles prepared her for the responsibility, and on the patient side Dr. Castro is incredibly qualified to deal with infected teeth, install or repair crowns, inlays and onlays and is known for making patients comfortable in the dental chair.

When asked how she continues to make dentistry interesting, Dr. Castro says: I enjoy working with people. Establishing relationships with new patients makes me feel alive! Of course, if you ask her about her favorite procedure in dentistry, the answer is root canals: I feel like a fish in the water when doing root canals!

Is the family tradition continuing? Dr. Castro and her husband of more than 25 years are very proud of their daughter, despite the fact that she did not become a dentist. Indeed, after studies at the Culinary Institute of America, she is now a sous chef in Napa. Dr. Castro cheerfully discusses her daughters culinary accomplishments with any of her patients that have an interest in cooking..

Dr. Samuel Karavan is excited to be working with the team at Sacramento Dentistry Group and be back in his hometown of Sacramento. Often described as gentle, patient, and caring, patients appreciate Dr. Karavans focus on preventative dentistry and increasing the longevity of their teeth. Dr. Karavan places great emphasis on good communication and, as a result, he speaks Ukrainian, Russian, Spanish, and English. Dr. Karavan also prides himself on not only treating symptoms, but also solving the root cause of patients complex dental problems.

Dr. Karavan has been infatuated with dentistry since he was a young boy. He loved going to the dentist at a very young age and quickly identified it as his passion in life. He attended the University of California at Davis before receiving his Doctorate in 2018 from Loma Linda School of Dentistry in Southern California, where he earned several prestigious awards for excellence in dentistry.

Dr. Karavan joined the Sacramento Dentistry Group after searching for a well-established, well-run office with high standards for dental care. The Sacramento Dentistry Groups philosophy around placing the patient first resonated with Dr. Karavan and he enjoys serving both new and existing patients at the practice.

When Dr. Karavan is not hiking with his Siberian husky named Sugar, playing ultimate Frisbee, or travelling across the world, he enjoys volunteering with organizations such as CDA Cares and International Dental Mission Trips.

Snoring occurs when air is not able to move freely through your nose and mouth during sleep. This is due to a narrowing of your airway, which causes the tissues to vibrate and make an audible sound. In extreme cases the airway can become blocked which is known as obstructive sleep apnea. Many factors can contribe to snoring such as age, nasal and sinus problems, being overweight, alcohol, smoking, medications, and sleep posture.

Snoring has a number of consequences that can impact the life of a snorer and his/her sleep partner. Sleep deprivation as a result of snoring has a negative impact on health and quality of life. Snorers can experience tiredness, morning headaches, irritability, dry mouth, and relationship difficulties. Studies have also shown a link between snoring and an increased risk of hear attack and stroke.

Most treatments for snoring attempt to keep the breathing passage open. Specially made dental appliances can be effective, but rely on daily compliance. Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) systems are often used to help control sleep apnea and the snoring associated with it, however these devices can be very uncomfortable. There are surgical options available for correcting snoring which usally involve removal of tissue from the uvula and pharynx but these surgeries are invasive and can result in a lengthy and uncomfortable recovery period following the surgery.

Nightlase is a leading-edge laser procedure for the treatment of snoring, offered exclusively with Fotona lasers. It is a non-invasive, no appliances, simple and an effective way of reducing or eliminating snoring.

laser energy is used to heat the tissues of the airway causing a tightening effect which helps to keep your airway open. NightLase is performed with approximately three short treatments spaced over two months. Each treatment lasts 15 minutes and requires no anesthesia. The procedure is comfortable and you can resume your daily routine immediately afterwards. Results are often seen after the first session.

Periodontal disease, also known as gum disease, is a set of inflammatory conditions affecting the tissues surrounding the teeth. In its early stage, called gingivitis, the gums become swollen, red, and may bleed. In its more serious form, called periodontitis, the gums can pull away from the tooth, bone can be lost, and the teeth may loosen or fall out. Bad breath may also occur.

Periodontal disease is generally due to bacteria in the mouth infecting the tissue around the teeth.Factors that increase the risk of disease include smoking, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, family history, and certain medications. Diagnosis is by inspecting the gum tissue around the teeth both visually and with a probe and X-rays looking for bone loss around the teeth.

Dental lasers are playing an increasingly important role in periodontology, providing fast, simple and highly effective treatments for procedures such as closed curettage, gingivoplasty, gum pigmentation removal, crown lengthening, and more.

Conventional methods for treating periodontal disease involve cutting with a blade, aggressive scaling/root planing, and suturing, all of which may result in longer healing time and pain after the surgery.

Twinlight laser treatment of periodontal disease, on the other hand, is a much less invasive procedure resulting in quicker recovery time, effective laser bacterial kill, no bleeding after the surgery, and less post-surgery pain.

I'm one of those people who hates shots and getting anything besides a cleaning done. Today I had a filling and needed a shot before hand. The staff made me feel super comfortable and I barely felt anything:) Would highly recommend this office.

I had a dentist since moving here in 1990. My kids were with Sacramento Dentistry. I was so pleased with their dental care, I switched, so happy I did! My old dentist office, still scraping the tarter..ouch! They have all the latest in dentistry to make your visit painless! Also, my old dentist(someone took over his business) couldn't get a crown right, they made it right at Sacramento Dentistry.

These people are awesome and do outstanding work. I've been going here for about 9 years and everything I have had done here has been very satisfactory. Doctor Castro and her staff have done an outstanding job attending to my cosmetic dentistry needs. All other work including root canals and cavities has gone extremely well. Their prices are very reasonable. The Sacramento Dentistry Group is top notch!!

I can't speak more highly of Sacramento Dentistry Group. I've had to make 3 emergency appointments here and they have always squeezed me in to their busy schedule to help me. I most recently was rollerskating and fell face first into a cement bowl at the skatepark. They were able to get me in within a couple days to get my chipped tooth fixed. The Doctor made my tooth look beautiful and matched up the color perfectly. I'm always so grateful for the work that this office does.

The most technologically advanced dentist office I've ever been in, but combined with extraordinary people skills. I felt consulted in all the decisions and the entire staff seemed genuinely interested in ensuring my experience was a positive one. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Long time patient and had an amazing cleaning as always with Lee, when an issue was identified needing invisalins the team came together to get the cost processing and imagery done asap and went out of their way because I had a time crunch. They were so kind, friendly, and professional - I highly recommend this dentist. Thank you!

Great dentist office with a nice, collaborative team. Scheduling and payment has been seamless. I am in the middle of Invisalign treatment and I appreciate that Dr. Karavan showed a lot of flexibility with scheduling.

Frustrating because they make you do an invisaline imaging even though I told them I had no interest in getting invisaline. Felt like I was getting scammed. Every time I leave they have thousands of dollars of services I could be doing even though I have no pain.

I was only able to give Sacramento Dentistry Group 5 stars. Unfortunately that's the highest I could give them. This is, by far, is the best dental experience I have ever had. I have not had any dental care for too many years and was quite nervous walking into the office the first time. I was totally comfortable with Dr Castro and her team almost immediately. She and her team work together seamlessly. I don't even know how I found them but I am so glad that I did.

I have been a patient for over 3 years and they have been so kind and patient with me. I have poor dental hygiene habits which has now led to me getting increased dental work late min life but they never make me feel embarrassed. I too hate the dentust and had bad expieriances but never here - ALL the staff and dcotors are very helpful, kind and pain free as possible. :)

Hands down the best dentist visit I've ever experienced! I have bad anxiety about dental visits after numerous bad experiences at other dentist offices and within minutes I felt at ease at Sacramento Dentistry Group. Everyone from the front desk to check out and scheduling follow up appointments was easy and stress free. The visit even included some much needed laughter! Thank you to the whole team!

Best Dentist in Sacramento! I've always grown up with EXTREME fear of going to the dentist office. Like to the point where I would darn near need to be put to sleep just to have my teeth cleaned! Well, Dr Castro is so caring and the best at what she does, I can even get a root canal and NOT be in FEAR.... Thank you Dr Castro for taking such great care of our families teeth!
