A cosmetic dentist is a licensed dentist who has elected to complete additional training performing aesthetic enhancement techniques and treatments. Certain procedures require supplementary education beyond the basic courses provided during dental school. Porcelain veneers, teeth whitening, dental implants, and sedation dentistry options demand a level of skill that can only be achieved with continuing education. We are proud of our dentists commitment to learning and to staying at the forefront of the dental industry.

Dr. Nicholas Roy was born and raised in Lewiston, Maine. Growing up he enjoyed playing hockey, running, and track and field. He attended UVM for his undergraduate studies, and upon completing his B.S. in Chemistry, Dr. Roy headed south to The University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, a top-rated dental school. It was an immensely rewarding educational experience, and Dr. Roy took advantage of the many opportunities presented to deepen his knowledge. During this time, Dr. Roy developed a passion for comprehensive care, which is a style of dental treatment that looks at the big picture of a persons mouth and related systems, along with their overall systemic health. In order to help patients with such complex needs, he decided to enter an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program in Richmond, Virginia. This experience gave him the confidence and skills necessary to perform implant dentistry, full mouth rehabilitation, sedation dentistry, and complex surgical treatment.

After returning to his home state, Dr. Roy decided to help those in need by joining a public health facility. This gave him time to give back, while evaluating where hed like to plant his roots. A chance encounter led him to join Dr. Wayne Lopez and Dr. Jin Hwang. Dr. Lopez had built an extensive patient base in Gorham in the 1970s-1990s. Dr. Lopez moved his practice to Buxton in 1999, into a house built in 1812. Although this house was excellent for a dentist in the final years of their career, it could not support the efficient and comprehensive care Dr. Roy envisioned for his patients. He acquired the practice in 2013 and began to craft the practice of his dreams.

Dr. Roy has a passion for Continuing Education in Dentistry. He is a member of numerous prestigious professional organizations, including the American Dental Association (ADA), Maine Dental Association (MDA), American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID), Maine Academy of General Dentistry (ME AGD). He is also a recipient of the prestigious Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD), which is obtained by less than 1% of general dentists in the U.S. He has lectured to his peers at local dental meetings and was featured in the leading dental podcast in the world, discussing his passion for dental adhesives and continuing education. Additionally, Dr. Roy possesses a particular passion for the field of dental sleep medicine and sleep apnea treatment, which has led to him being named a Qualified Dentist by the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM).

Dr. Roys goal is to provide dental care in a comprehensive manner. This means he can treat patients who have been away from the dental world for some time and/or who have a complex set of issues. He looks forward to continuing to be a big part of the community, participating in ongoing mission trips to Honduras, and providing assistance to veterans of U.S Armed forces through the Smiles for Vets Program. Dr. Roy has a passion for golf, hockey, running, fishing, hiking, and playing guitar. He enjoys time with his wife Danielle and their dog, Neely, a silver lab. For a glimpse of Dr. Roys dental work, see the smile gallery!

After graduating from the UNE College of Dental Medicine, Dr. Reagan joined the Saco River Dentistry team. Although he wishes he could call himself a native of Maine, he has lived in and loved this great state for fifteen years and cannot imagine calling anywhere else home. After graduating from Susquehanna University with a B.S. in Biology, Dr. Reagan received a Masters of Human Anatomy and Physiology at the Pennsylvania State College of Medicine. It was during his time there that he developed an understanding and appreciation for the ways that the oral cavity can influence the health and function of the human bodya stepping stone which led him to a career in dentistry. He has a particular interest in general and family dentistry, as he enjoys building relationships with his patients and helping them maintain optimal oral health over time. He also offers cosmetic dentistry solutions such as teeth whitening and porcelain veneers to help his patients achieve the beautiful, healthy smiles they desire.

Saco River Dentistry - Cosmetic dentist in Buxton, ME

Dr. Reagan is a member of the American Dental Association as well as the Maine Dental Association. His main focus is providing his patients with a comfortable and supportive environment while helping them achieve a healthy and confident smile. In his free time Dr. Reagan enjoys reading, cooking, and yoga, but most of all spending time with his family: his wife, daughter, son, and beautiful pug. Dr. Reagan is extremely excited to be at Saco River Dentistry and is looking forward to getting to know you.

I was fortunate enough to pursue a masters degree in human anatomy and physiology prior to entering into the dental field. During that time, I developed an appreciation for working with my hands, paying attention to detail, and evaluating complex biochemical interactions. Part of my thesis project focused on the brain-gut interactions and how they can both play a role and alter how we perceive taste from a very young age. This sparked an interest in the dental field, which I have found to be the culmination of working with your hands, tapping into the science of medicine, and spending time with people.

Without question, the thing I enjoy most is meeting new patients and helping find a way to keep them happy and anxiety-free while in the dental chair. One of the best parts of my day is making patients comfortable throughout what can be a daunting experience. Ive found that occasional singing helps!

Spending the time to sit down and understand how a patient wants to be treated is the cornerstone for how I approach patient care. Each person is unique in that they come to the dental office with preconceived notions of what the dentist is, and what I need for my mouth. I believe it is my responsibility as a care provider for both of us to embark upon a journey to discover how to help bring them back to the best oral health they can achieve.

When I was a recent addition to the SRD family, I had the opportunity to meet a patient experiencing one of the worst days of their lives. They had broken a number of teeth and were in agonizing pain. One of the things I will never forget is coming in to meet the patient and them saying to me, If you put your fingers in my mouth, I will bite them! This demonstrates the level of anxiety and pain that the patient was experiencing in the moment. After talking for a while, we decided that it would be impossible to bite me if I only used a mirror. I am proud to say after working with this patient for a few years, they no longer have any fear of the dentist and are working on starting a career as a dentist for themselves.

Wow, called about a tooth I had chipped and they got me in the very next day for repair! Dr. Reagan did a great job with the filling. Even when I go in for my regular cleanings, it's always a calming and relaxing atmosphere. Kudos to the staff!!

I can't say enough about Dr. Reagan and his team. I had a horrible experience with a different dentist that made it so I didn't go back to the dentist for years. My son started going there and loves it. I needed to get in and was filled with anxiety going. Dr. Reagen completely understood and just talked and made me feel at ease. I tell everyone I know they should go there!

I have had multiple things done. Have had the pleasure of meeting a few of the dentist on the team. Dr Regan did my implant. I love how he sings while doing his job. The implant was a success I got it in time for the mask to come off. I've had Dr Hicks who is a perfectionist shaping fixing my teeth and his sidekick Adeline who is the sweeties they work amazing together. I always joke I go to Dr Regan for the gross things like my abscess last summer to Dr Hicks who I spent many Saturdays with which I greatly appreciated him always taking me last minute and making the color and shape perfect. BB I had for a filling and also when I was w Dr Regan helping him. I always hated the dentist but this group has helped me smile again.

The staff is friendly but disorganized, multiple billing mistakes and very difficult to reach someone to remedy them, no point of leaving a phone message because it won't be returned. Advice to the owner, stop accepting new patients if you can't handle the ones you have.

Every person at this practice is friendly and welcoming. I chipped my front tooth recently and they were accommodating and quick to help me out. I was pretty worried about how my smile would look. Tessa reshaped my front tooth to what I call a masterpiece work of art. She took her time and was so diligent. I'm forever grateful that I can smile again with confidence.

I was a patient here 3-4 years ago. My first visit they kept retaking x rays until I finally said enough x rays. Her response was you get more radiation from a plane ride to Florida. They never measured my gumline. You would think that a office that preaches prevention would have done that at least once in the two years I was a patient. The office is all about upselling. All of a sudden, I have numerous cavities that needed fixing after changing over to them. The one cavity they did "fix" has been nothing but problems to this day (almost 3 years after). I went in for them to adjust the tooth twice and they said there might be something else going on. I can tell you what happened, they screwed up the procedure. I had literally zero problems with the tooth before they touched it. My wife and I both encountered this upselling method there. Bring your insurance or your money if you go here.

Dr. Stalker recently repaired a chipped front tooth. I have a lot of variation in color in my teeth and he was really good about explaining my options for repair and color matching. I'm really happy with the final result. The staff and hygienists are also really helpful and professional, and make my kids feel at ease during their cleanings.

I went for the comfort due to having dental anxiety. I had been years and years without proper dental care due to being in an unhealthy relationship where basic needs were withheld. I shared this with the folks there as I was concerned about being judged and the first thing the dentist said to me was "I brush my teeth every day because I want to keep my teeth". I won't be returning, obviously, and recommend that people find an office that has respect for their patients. This really just confirmed what I was most scared of. Maybe the owners could benefit from some bedside manner training. I couldn't imagine saying this to someone.

I recently had a dental emergency. Not only did Dr. Reagan fit me in at the end of the day, both he and Lexi stayed after hours to help me. They were professional, kind and compassionate. I am forever grateful for their great care and gracious, cheerful attitudes.

I recently broke a tooth and found myself in need of a new crown. Not only does Saco River Dentistry have all the latest tools and techniques, they took a procedure that I was DREADING and turned it into one of the best dental experiences I have ever had. They took a great deal of time to get it just right, explaining everything as they went, and to my great surprise it was almost pain free. Given the extent of the work needed, I expected to be grimacing and consuming soup for a week. It was the opposite. I had almost no pain, got a beautiful new tooth and was back to normal in mere hours. It was the best dental experience I have ever had. I would highly recommend this group!
