It is not as hard to wake up in the morning when you are lucky enough to have a career that you enjoy and are passionate about. The single most fulfilling aspect of orthodontics is not the newsmiles that we create; it is the change in confidence that we can perceive in our patients as their teeth straighten out. In school, I knew I would enjoy the tooth-moving aspect of orthodontics, but it turns out that getting to know the families in our practice and seeing what orthodontics can do for them is what I love most of all.
It is my goal to make sure that patients are treated as individuals. Too many dental and medical practices have a one-size-fits-all treatment approach, but I strive to develop an individual treatment plan for every patient, factoring in things like facial aesthetics, so that we can plan for the best, long-term smile possible.
I am so fortunate to work with the most caring group of people you will ever find. They go above and beyond every single day to make sure that our patients are treated the right way. The technical aspects of their jobs are almost secondary, because they do such a good job of treating the individual and not just the individuals teeth.
Originally from Mansfield, I graduated from Lexington High School in 1997. I attended Centre College where, in 2001, I earned my BS in biochemistry, magna cum laude, and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.
I had considered a career in healthcare for as long as I can remember. I decided on dentistry after I began to realize how it so uniquely combines science and art together, all while working so closely with the patients to achieve their goals.
I completed my dental education at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in 2005, and earned my Doctorate of Dental Medicine with high honors as an inductee into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. I obtained my Master of Science in dentistry at Saint Louis University, Center for Advanced Dental Education.
Since finishing my formal education, I have completed well beyond the required hours of continuing education because it is important to me to stay on top of the most recent trends and technologies in orthodontics. In the past few years, I have focused much of my continuing education on Invisalign, which enables me to treat more complicated cases.
I have been a resident of Sugarcreek Township for a decade, living here with my wife Rachael, our kids, Graham, Clara, and Adelyn, and a small collection of farm animals. Spending time with people that mean the most to me, in particular my family, is what takes up the majority of my free time. The rest is devoted to playing golf! I also enjoy traveling with my family, snow-skiing, and working around our small play farm.
I am also dedicated to my community, both personally and professionally. My family and I are active in Kirkmont Presbyterian Church in Beavercreek, and professionally, I have partnered with Smiles Change Lives, a nonprofit organization that provides steeply discounted orthodontic treatment to children that really need it but do not have the means to do so.
Orthodontics can be such a life-changing experience for certain individuals that I want it to be accessible to everyone that truly needs it. Our partnership has been an unbelievable success so far, not just for the patients, but for our practice as well.

I have been in the dental field since 2018.I spent several years as a restaurant manager before I decided I needed a change in my life.I am currently working towards my degree online while working as a patient coordinator for Ryckman Orthodontics. I joined the team at the end of 2019 it was a great way to ring in the new year. Everyone was very welcoming, compassionate, and helpful, which is the same care we give our patients. I look forward to getting to know each and every one of our patients during their journey at our office.
Josh and I rekindled a high school romance in2018 and married in 2021. I have a step daughter, Hadley,who keeps us on our toes and laughingWe enjoy doing anything outdoors as a family camping, canoeing, fishing, and much more. We are always looking for an adventure and to make new memories. I love country concerts, traveling, and spending time with my family.
I have been married to Rob since 1986 and have two sons and three cats. I love cooking and baking, especially a new or original recipe. I also like to express my creativity by drawing, painting, and pursuing DIY projects. Most days, you can find me spending time with my husband and boys.
I have been a dental assistant since 2018 and I am a former patient of Dr. Ryckman! Its an honor to have joined his team and work alongside him and the other assistants. It is my goal to ensure all patients feel important throughout their orthodontic journeys, while not only transforming their smiles but giving them the confidence they deserve.
I began working in the orthodontic field in 2003 and joined Ryckman Orthodontics in 2018. I assist at chairside, work in our lab, and take X-rays. Our team is simply the best around! We work so well together, all working towardthe goal of creating beautiful smiles. Were so close that were like family!
Since starting at this practice in 1986, Ive thoroughly enjoyed getting to know our patients and their families, and watching their smiles change as they go through their treatment. I assist Dr. Ryckman with treatment, take X-rays and photos, and coordinate Invisalign treatment. More importantly, I meet new patients, and establishrelationships with them and their families. Dr. Ryckman is an outstanding orthodontist. He is honest, kind, and cares about his patients and their families. Its so rewarding to work as a team and give our patients beautiful, healthy smiles.
I am responsible for the everyday operations of the practice and you will often see me at the front desk. I began working in the dental field in2017 and made the switch from General Dentistry to Orthodonticsin 2019.I have been blown away with the warm and friendly atmosphere that our patients and staff create. There really is no better place to work!I look forward to building wonderful relationships with each of our new and existing patients.

Dr. Ryckman and his team are amazing!! I had braces for 3 1/2 years, and they were just amazing and so helpful. I started with having to get 8 teeth removed, and had someone else tell me I'd have to get jaw surgery to correct my overbite but Dr. Ryckman felt they'd be able to correct my overbite without surgery. Within the first month of having braces on, I already saw major improvements in my teeth. My treatment was rather easy, with the biggest challenge being rubber bands and forsus springs. After a little over a year of using rubber bands, Dr. Ryckman gave me the choice of continuing with rubber bands or switching to the metal forsus springs. He stated that the springs would help correct the overbite, so I opted to go that route. They were totally different than the rubber bands, since they larger metal wires that couldn't be taken out. They made a huge difference in my teeth - totally corrected the over bite. They were difficult at times, but so worth it in the long run. My teeth had been my biggest insecurity all my life, but now I love my smile! Thank you so much Dr. Ryckman and everyone at the Shroyer office - you were all amazing!!

I cannot say enough about Dr. Ryckman and his staff! Everyone is absolutely amazing! I had my braces on for two years and just had them removed today! My teeth and bite were in very bad shape. As an adult I wasn't sure what to expect with having braces put on. Dr. Ryckman came up with a treatment plan and it went perfectly! I am so happy with my smile and I actually cried when I got to look in my mirror when I came home! I 1000% recommend Ryckman Orthodontics!

Great experience with Ryckman Orthodontist at both locations. Always a short wait, easy appointments and didn't push interventions. Was a very successful experience with no pressure and great employees. Will be back with kid #2 in a couple of months.

Dr. Ryckman and his staff all take great pride in what they do. They are all very open about discussing the different types of treatment options and the benefits that come with each. Furthermore, they always listened to and answered any questions I had about my orthodontic journey. This office always made me feel comfortable both physically and mentally. Dr. Mike and his staff never caused any discomfort in my mouth and were always very gentle. Everyone at this office takes great care in ensuring that the treatment plan is on track and the best it can be prior to finishing the treatment. Moreover, Dr. Ryckman's office takes great care in disinfecting commonly touched surfaces and screening those with symptoms of COVID-19 to guarantee the safety of themselves and their patients. While having orthodontic staff that all know what they are doing is important, everyone at this office is incredibly friendly. They all go out of their way to converse with their patients. Each and every person at this office cares that their patients are comfortable and excited to come to each appointment. I never need to worry about anything with my plan, and I have great trust in Dr. Ryckman and his team. I would without a doubt recommend this office to anyone looking to start orthodontic treatment!

I've been going to Ryckman Orthodontics since elementary school. I've had braces twice, my second round starting when I was a sophomore in high school. I've recently gotten my braces off after three years, and let me just say, I am so happy to have them off! I've always had such a wonderful experience with Dr. Ryckman and his staff ever since I first went. They're all wonderful people who are very kind, compassionate, and overall amazing at their job. I couldn't ask for a better experience throughout the years.
