This program also included rotations at Children's Medical Center of Dallas, Dallas Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and lecturing both here in Dallas, and at the Universities of Geneva and Bern in Switzerland.
Dr. Laura Ryan is from the small East Texas town of Kilgore, and the small town feel of Allen reminds her of home. After graduating high school in Kilgore, Dr. Ryan went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Texas A&M University, and her Master of Arts degree in Teaching from the University of Texas at Tyler. She taught 7th grade science for 4 years while her husband was in dental school, and during that time she decided that she too would like to become a dentist. She received her dental degree from Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas. During dental school, Dr. Laura participated in many organizations and volunteer activities including providing free exams and sealants at the Dallas Mayor's Back to School Fair, extracting teeth at the Dallas Life Homeless Shelter, and spending part of her summer breaks extracting teeth at the Baylor Emergency Clinic. She was also selected by faculty members to be a peer tutor to underclassmen and spent two summers doing dental research, which was presented at the American Academy of Dental Research Symposium in New Orleans. Finally, Dr. Laura was elected to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society and the Odontological Honor Society, and she graduated as Salutatorian of her dental school class.
Dr. Laura is dedicated to providing high quality, compassionate, and comprehensive dental care to each patient. She enjoys getting to know her patients and strives to make each one of them comfortable in the dental chair. She is also a firm believer in patient education and preventive dentistry, and thus she enjoys teaching patients how to maintain good oral hygiene and prevent problems before they arise.
First, lets talk about our digital technology. Our office uses intraoral cameras and digital X-rays to perform thorough and comprehensive exams quickly, easily, and with better results. Instead of waiting to see the X-ray image of your smile printed out on X-ray paper, you can now view the images instantly on chairside digital monitors. Digital X-rays arent just quicker, though; they also expose you to far less radiation, which is great news for todays health-conscious dental patients. Additionally, we use intraoral cameras to help us get a great view of your oral health, and these cameras allow us to show you exactly what we see in your mouth.
The images taken with digital X-ray and intraoral camera technology can be stored in computerized records, too. This means that were a paperless practice. Patients love that we can quickly and efficiently call up their records for easy treatment planning, and, of course, paperless records mean less waste!
Of course our dental office features technology, but we also look out for your comfort as well. With shaded glasses, blankets, and soothing music, weve created a stress-free environment for your dental care. Treat yourself to our Keurig coffee machine or a cold bottle of water! With various sedation dentistryoptions, like nitrous oxide and oral sedation, we help those who have serious dental anxiety problems as well.
Were also very interested in educating patients to help them maintain excellent oral healthcare between visits. As we mentioned before, Dr. Laura Ryan studied education during her undergraduate years, and this has led to a lifelong love of teaching patients all about their oral health. When its time to draw up treatment plans, this commitment to education translates into thorough explanations and more comprehensive information, helping you to make good decisions for your dental care and the dental care treatments of your family.
