Not sure where to begin. Awful service aside from the hygienist at the time. Receptionist staff (Jared, Lindsey, and etc.) loves to belittle and talk down to you or make "final courtesy call" about appointments that you specifically requested on a certain date. I can assure you, I didn't stutter at the time I made it (October doesn't remotely sound like August; pushing routine cleanings without consent). Additionally, informing you of a MORE THAN HALF A YEAR overdue balance?! I'm sorry, why would you SOLEY RELY on Richmonds lousy postal couriers when you seem to have my email...Let's not even discuss the apparent bigotry but that's just something that seems prevalent on the preppy side of Richmond. Wouldn't recommend them.

They were amazing. I had a tooth removed and they made it feel painless. I Would recommend them to everyone. Update... I went back after 5 years and they remembered me. Staff is amazing. They take good care of you and fully explain everything and as you have treatments they explain it as well.. Its hard to find dentist that are amazing... look no farther m

Update to this: they corrected and then some. They were truly wonderful and apologetic. Every visit since has been wonderful and I highly recommend them. My initial experience with this dentist was pleasant and I even referred friends. I can tell you I won't be doing that anymore and will be considering another office. I came in to have my permanent retainer removed, and would receive an invisalign retainer instead. That appointment was in mid November. They said it would be 2-3 weeks to get my new retainer. Fast forward to December, just before Christmas. I was called back in due to some flaws in the impressions and had to have them done again. I was told it would be a quick 10-20 minute, in and out appointment. If you have ever had impressions done, you know they are a nightmare to sit through, so I wasn't thrilled to have to do them again, especially because it was their own mistakes that needed fixing. Part way through, the doctor/hygienist that was doing my impressions left. I sat there for close to 10 minutes, I had to get up and go down the hall to get someone else to ask if I could leave--I had a very busy day and was already in the office for well on 40 minutes. Another hygienist stepped in to finish with me. Fast forward to the beginning of February, no retainer. No phone call. Just a letter in the mail with a bright pink sticker telling me "second notice." I owed more money because my insurance didn't cover the invisalign, which they had assured me would be "highly unlikely." I called and turns out my retainers are there, no idea how long they have been there, but no one thought it would be a good idea to call me, just bill me instead. So now I own an additional $333 for a product I have still yet to receive. This office is a disorganized mess. While yes, very friendly, that only goes so far when they continue to drop the ball.

I do not often write reviews, but I feel compelled to warn others of the out of pocket costs expected with RVA Dental Care. I had a truly excellent experience with all of the staff, which makes their billing practices even more disappointing. As a new patient, I was told they bill insurance and was not given any additional explanation during my initial call or first appointment, nor did I think to ask questions to confirm that they actually accepted insurance and billed as all my dentists in the past have. After paying a large sum upfront at my appointments, I received an additional $600 bill in the mail. When I called their office to question the costs, I was told that my insurance "did not cover as much as [they] expected" and I was responsible for that $600 difference. All in all, I paid almost $1,600 to get 4 existing fillings revised. Per a representative at my insurer, this should have been a max of $400-500 in network and an estimated $1200 out of network... still $400 less than I paid with RVA dental. I do want to add that this note is at the bottom of the bills, which I clearly did not fully understand or further investigate. After reading through other low reviews, I realize I am not the only one who failed to ask questions about this "non participating" policy and paid greatly for it.

Called and booked a cleaning which was easy and convenient. The location was awkward as the parking lot was tiny and the inside was not so clean. I assume they think people don't read their bill as my insurance was also charged for an X-ray that never happened. This will be reported for insurance fraud and to the BBB. They offered a fluoride treatment which was extra for the clean service and agreed to. Will update once I speak with the billing manager, my insurance company and the BBB.

RVA Dental is fantastic, and Dr. Lawrence is one of the best dentists who has ever treated me. I'm a very nervous patient, and Dr. Lawrence and his assistant, Monica, made me feel calm and unafraid. They explained everything in great detail and took the time to answer every question, no matter how small. Plus, Dr. L is very laid back and conversational. Everyone there was friendly and helpful from the moment I walked in the door. It's a long drive for me, but totally worth the trip.

Our family loves this place. Even our 7 year old LIKES to go to the dentist. Everyone is super friendly, professional, and they offer all the latest tech to ensure we get the best dental care. Big ups to Dr Friend.

Absolutely everyone was wonderful from the moment I walked in. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, kind, and just giving great energy. It can be a struggle to find a good dental office and a good dentist. If you don't feel comfortable perhaps you won't ask the right questions or advocate for yourself when you feel something isn't done quite right. I have had that type of experience before at another local dentist's office so it was very refreshing to come to RVA Dental Care. If you are new in town and looking for a new dental office or even if you're not I would recommend checking out RVA Dental Care, they offer a great level of service!

Thank you for moving my appointment last minute to a couple hours later that day. That really helped me navigate an urgent work matter. Mallory did a great job cleaning my teeth. And Dr. Lawrence, with his great "chairside manner", is always a pleasure to talk to and learn from. Thank you.

I contacted RVA Dental Care because I needed an emergency appointment. I have had significant anxiety surrounding dentists for years and I was very nervous going in. However, from the first phone call all the way to the check-out after the procedure--every step was so easy and the staff was so incredibly kind. They take their covid-19 precautions very seriously and I felt safe the entire visit. Erin and Dr. Lawrence took the best care of me and really made me feel comfortable the whole time. Though the circumstances that brought me there were unpleasant, I am so thankful I found RVA Dental Care.

Couldn't be happier with my decision to pick RVA Dental Care upon moving to RVA a couple years. Absolutely love the staff there, and they provide the highest level of dental health and patient/customer care. I recommend them to everyone, emphatically. I legitimately look forward to my appointments. EDIT: now more than 2 yrs later, and the above still holds true. I couldn't imagine being at another practice. Just got molded for Invisalign as well, and that process was a breeze. It's always great to go in and see everyone there. As I work in healthcare, I must also comment that their changes in practice during the COVID pandemic have been swift and effective - my family and I continue to feel extremely safe with how they manage the practice and our health.

I came in for a cleaning and some pain from one of my molars. The entire office is so friendly Cindy (I think was her name) was incredibly informative and clear. Just altogether awesome. I had Dr. Collie he was also very clear and friendly.

Awesome hours, excellent staff and doctors and they take care of their patients. I got my appointments mixed up and showed up the wrong day but they were able to squeeze me in and get me taken care of right away despite me throwing a wrench into their schedule for the day. Only place in Richmond I'll go to for dental work.
