The team at Russikoff Family Dentistry believe in the importance of preventative care. We focus on keeping patients in good oral health so that they can live a full, healthy, and enjoyable life that is free from oral pain. This starts by educating our patients on what they can do to stay healthy at home. In our family dentist office we recommend that patients eat a healthy diet that consists of green leafy vegetables, lean protein, nuts, dairy products, and crunchy fruits and veggies. Eating these foods along with drinking water can help to keep teeth healthy and make them stronger. By simultaneously reducing sugar intake, patients can also reduce their risk of cavities.
It is also important to brush and floss throughout the day. Instead of waiting for bedtime to brush teeth, carry a small toothbrush and use it after meals and snacks. This makes it possible to remove sugar and bacteria from the teeth and gums before it has the opportunity to turn into acid that can attack the teeth. This preventative step can greatly reduce a persons' risk of getting a cavity or gum disease. We understand the importance of taking these steps at home and will spend the time necessary to educate and inform patients so that they can stay healthy overall. Education, after all, is essential for living a long and healthy life.
Understanding the importance of these regular dental exams, the staff at Russikoff Family Dentistry work to make each patient extremely comfortable. This includes being welcoming and kind while performing dental treatments in a way that is painless and relaxing. Patients visit our dentist office because they trust us to do just that take care of their teeth and gums, gently. The majority of our patients are local and come from the greater Northridge area, we also see patients that are looking for gentle dental care.
Seniors, on the other hand, often struggle with gum disease and oral infections. As people age, their teeth can become weaker and infected more easily. Bone loss is incredibly common with seniors and by conducting regular dental exams, the team at Russikoff Family Dentistry can help seniors to have strong teeth and reduce the risk of them falling out. Since over seventy percent of U.S. adults suffer from tooth loss, preventative care is important.
A. Primary, or 'baby,' teeth are important for many reasons. Not only do they help children speak clearly and chew naturally, they also aid in forming a path that permanent teeth can follow when they are ready to come in.
A. First, rinse the irritated area with warm salt water and place a cold compress on the face if it is swollen. Give the child acetaminophen for any pain, rather than placing aspirin on the teeth or gums. Finally, see a dentist as soon as possible.
A. Sealants work by filling in the crevasses on the chewing surfaces of the teeth. This shuts out food particles that could get caught in the teeth, causing cavities. The application is fast and comfortable and can effectively protect teeth for many years.
A. Have your family dentist evaluate the fluoride level of your child's primary source of drinking water. If your child is not getting enough fluoride internally through water (especially if the fluoride level is deficient or if your child drinks bottled water without fluoride), then we may prescribe fluoride supplements.
A. Soft plastic mouthguards can be used to protect teeth, lips, cheeks and gums from sport related injuries. A custom-fitted mouthguard will protect your teeth from injuries and even provide protection from severe injuries to the head.
A. There is very little risk in dental X-rays. Family dentists are especially careful to limit the amount of radiation to which you and your family are exposed. Lead aprons and high-speed film are used to ensure safety and minimize the amount of radiation. Digital x-rays provide an even greater level of protection by using up to 90 percent less radiation.

With so many stale corporate offices popping up, I love the personal touch Dr. Russikoff is able to provide to his practice. He takes the time to explain things which I also appreciate. My previous dentist had since retired and my implant crown was broken. I found Dr. Russikoff and he was able to fix the issue. I have since switched offices and absolutely enjoy all my appointments. The office staff is remarkable and very helpful. Thank you Sandy for such a wonderful cleaning. Dr. Russikoff and his assistant, Gloria, work so well together. I barely felt any of the numbing injections. Dr. Russikoff spent a long consultation time with me explaining which procedures would be done and why I needed specific treatments. I left with all my questions answered to my satisfaction. Lastly, Juana was well versed in all office practices and handled finances very professionally. Dr. Russikoff and his staff are top notch. The office is wonderful, friendly, and very welcoming. Unlike other dental offices I have been, there is a lot of joy and laughter from staff and patients alike. Juana was super helpful with explaining my insurance to me and kept everything very transparent. My cleaning with their new hygienist Sandy was fast and efficient. She super knowledgeable and very personable. There was 0 discomfort. I hate going to the dentist but if I had to choose anywhere, this is the only place I would go. Thank you Dr. Russikoff

My experience at Dr. Russikoff's office is always amazing. From the moment you walk in the staff are very professional and make you feel comfortable. Scheduling is made really easy thanks to Juana. Sandy is also very friendly and extremely thorough with her cleanings. Dr. Russikoff is so down to earth and delivers the highest quality of care. I have never had pain or cold sensitivity after the numerous fillings I have had (and never felt the injection!). Gloria is very sweet as well. I highly recommend this office!

I came to Dr. Russikoff to get veneers and I couldn't be happier with my decision, he gave me a smile that I've always dreamed of having. Moved to the area recently and was in need of a new dentist. My uncle had recommended this office so I figured I'd give it a shot. Glad I made the decision to come here to get my dental work done. Dr. Russikoff is a fantastic dentist and made me feel comfortable from the initial exam all the way through the treatment that he provided. His attention to detail is second to none. Sandy the hygienest is also excellent and leaves you feeling minty fresh with her thorough cleanings. 100% would recommend, cant wait for my next appointment!

Russikoff Family dentistry provided a top notch experience from beginning to end. The staff is super friendly and makes you feel comfortable the whole time you're there. From the moment I entered, I felt welcomed by the staff. I had a dental emergency and Dr. Russikoff was able to see me immediately. He is very thorough and walked me through the procedure. I returned the following week for a cleaning and exam. Dr. Russikoff's even told me I did not need a new crown as two previous dentists said that I did. Christina, the hygienist, was excellent as well.

Dr. Russikoff and his staff are the best. When you arrive you are greeted warmly by a smiling and friendly front staff. The dental assistants are professional and so nice. My hygienist, Christina, is the absolute best in the business. She has the most gentle touch and she is a highly educated and trained professional, besides being so nice and friendly. It's like seeing a friend who just so happens to be cleaning my teeth. Dr. Russikoff is so kind and so professional. He just puts you at ease. You know you are going to be cared for like family. Garrett is probably the best dentist I have ever gone to. He prioritizes your well being, takes time to explain everything and walk you through your situation, and is very caring and careful. His office is super clean and cozy. And his staff is so nice and helpful. Top notch!!
