Prior to becoming an orthodontist, I attended Auburn University for my Bachelor of Science degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude. I then received my Doctorate of Dental Medicine with honors from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Afterward, I earned my specialty Certificate in Orthodontics and Master of Science from the University of Kentucky.
In order to provide my patients with the highest quality orthodontic treatments that are specific to their needs, I must continually learn of the most advanced methods. I am very active in pursuing my continuing education, including the self-ligating method, which uses low-force, high-efficiency braces, resulting in fewer visits, more comfort, and the most beautiful smiles.
I also complete many hours of continuing education each year for Invisalign and Invisalign Teen, which more and more of our patients are requesting. We are incorporating advanced techniques with Invisalign to achieve excellent outcomes and treat more significant malocclusions. Therefore, more patients are considered Invisalign candidates in our office!
I enjoy working with people to achieve such a positive goal and improve their lives. A persons smile is worn every day for life! What a gift to give yourself or your children! I really dig the technical aspects of orthodontics, and my job is a wonderful outlet for my perfectionism.
I always appreciate the positive feedback I receive from patients, and am energized by how stoked patients are with the changes they see. Also, I love to kid around with my patients and maintain a casual feel during the orthodontic experience.
I am originally from Albany, in South Georgia. In my spare time, I enjoy golf, tennis, fishing, reading, following sports and chillaxing. I participate with local athletics such as the Grayson Athletic Association. I also work with local school systems on various levels and volunteer with Give Kids a Smile, providing pro bono dentistry for underprivileged children on occasion.

It is very important that you continue to visit your family dentist once every six months, even during your orthodontic treatment, for teeth cleanings and routine dental checkups. If extra dental care is needed, we will be happy to coordinate with your family dentist to make sure that you are receiving the best care possible.

I had braces with Dr. Russell 10 years ago, and my teeth still look great and are perfectly aligned today! I can attest that his attention to detail, care for his patients, and great attitude really pay off. I love my smile and have Dr. Russell to thank. I'm so glad I went to him for my orthodontics, and I would highly recommend his office to anyone.

I did not have braces as a child, despite probably needing them. During my early 50's the COVID pandemic hit and I realized my mouth would be behind a facemask for the foreseeable future. This was the ideal time to invest in corrective tooth alignment. My dental health is excellent so I was not interested in modification that involved removing existing, healthy, material. Therefore I only considered braces. My dentist recommended 3 local orthodontists (in the Athens, Georgia area). I visited, consulted with, and generated financial estimates (I paid out-of-pocket) for each facility. I chose Russell Orthodontics based on the proposed treatment plan, the price, and general office feel (they are not too large and not too small). I have been 100% happy with my decision. Dr. Russell has a thriving business but still made me feel memorable during every visit. I am thrilled with what my teeth look like now - they are everything I had hoped they could be. I highly recommend Dr. Russell for your orthodontic needs.

I am so glad that I chose Dr. Russell to be my orthodontist! He saved me time, money, and pain! I originally went for a consult at a different orthodontist in Athens and was told that I would be in metal braces for 2 years and would have to have 4 teeth removed. I obviously was shocked by this news and decided to get a second opinion because I really didn't want to have to go through that. Dr. Russell was able to perfect my teeth with Invisalign & no teeth removed in just over a year! I haven't been this confident in my smile in a very long time! To say that I am grateful for Russell Orthodontics is a huge understatement! The whole staff is great, and I am so happy that I found this office!

My son, Brody has been seeing Dr Russell for his braces for years. He started with phase 1 and just completed phase 2. We have been so happy through the entire process with the treatment and the results. He now has a beautiful smile and perfect teeth. I sincerely recommend anyone needing braces to see Dr Russell. He and his team is wonderful!

Russell does miracles!! Best orthodontist in Athens, he's also extremely kind and loving. Plus they have a game room in the front with all the retro arcade games you can think of when your waiting. Trust me check it out, you won't be disappointed!!

Dr. Russell is amazing! I am thrilled with my entire orthodontic experience and results with Dr. Russell. This was my second time getting braces and my experience with Russell Orthodontics far exceeded my expectations. His attention to detail and "perfecting" was greatly appreciated. I love the results he was able to achieve. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to have a great smile. As soon as my daughter is ready for orthodontic treatment I will definitely be back.

Dr. Russell is absolutely amazing. My dentist and some friends recommended him for his superior work. I came in for my first visit the other day and the staff there are absolutely superb and genuinely care about you as the patient. They are very patient and nice there. You are always greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. I had been to a couple different orthodontists close to or around the area and they were really expensive and it didn't really feel like they cared for the long term success of the patient. But Dr Russell is very fair in his pricing and does a stupendous and is very meticulous in regards to his work. He's a super nice guy and explains everything perfectly and concisely. I am so appreciative and thankful for all that he has done for me in helping me rejuvenate my smile. I highly recommend Dr Russell and his staff. His level of service and expertise is extremely high. Dr. Russel is very meticulous at his work, and he did an amazing job carefully and precisely molding my teeth into the perfect smile. He strives for nothing but perfection, and I really love his lively and friendly energy that never allows for awkward moments in the chair. I also love it when he passionately uses his hands and sound effects to explain to me exactly what he is working on.

I cannot recommend Dr. Russell and his staff enough. I made my first appointment a little over two years ago because I was interested in Invisalign. I had braces when I was younger, but, like many, I was not diligent about wearing my retainer. My bottom teeth were extremely crowded-- to the point that some teeth were crossing behind others, etc. I honestly was unsure whether Invisalign would even be an option. I was also in law school at the time and nervous about adding another commitment to my schedule. Dr. Russell and his staff impressed me at that first appointment and continued to impress me throughout my treatment. They accommodated my schedule and even allowed me to have a virtual appointment when I moved out of Athens. It is clear that Dr. Russell and his staff really care about what they do. They want to make their patients comfortable and give them the self-confidence boost that results from being happy with your smile. I would, without a doubt, choose Dr. Russell again, and I cannot wait to show off my new smile for my wedding photos next year.

To say Dr.Russell is a magician undermines all of his skill and and hard work and attention to detail, but it truly feels like magic is at play here. I had braces as a teen and my teeth rather quickly shifted back (and possibly worse than before?!). When I hit 30, finally fed up with my super janky smile, I went to another orthodontist in town who took X-rays and let me know the only way to straighten my teeth would be to break my jaw. Cool, I'll stick with cooked teeth. 10 years later, my dentist referred me to Dr.Russell, saying he can do insane things with Invisalign. I was skeptical, but somehow this man got my smile from a giant crooked & crowded mess into super straight, beautiful teeth in less than a year! With Invisalign! I was in the office a total of 3 times and my treatment was done. I can't thank Dr.Russell enough, he's a miracle worker, confidence booster, and all 'round great guy. Can't recommend him enough!
