A native of Columbus and graduate of Heritage Academy High School, Dr. Russell chose to initiate predoctoral training at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. He then completed his bachelors degree in general business administration at Mississippi State University. After completing his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the University of Mississippi, he continued his dental education at the University of Pennsylvania, where he received Specialty Certification in Orthodontics. Dr. Russell joined the orthodontic practice of his father, Dr. John Russell, Jr., in 1988 and has continued the practice since his fathers retirement.
Dr. Russell is a member of the American Dental Association, the Mississippi Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists and the Mississippi Association of Orthodontists. He has served as President of the Mississippi Association of Orthodontists. Dr. Russell is also an active member of the Columbus Rotary Club.
The staff at Russell Orthodontics is committed to providing superior service and excellent care to the residents in and around the areas of Amory, Columbus, and Tupelo, Mississippi. Dr. John Russell takes great pride in employing a staff of experienced professionals. Our commitment to excellent service includes not only great orthodontic treatment but also a warm, friendly office atmosphere.

Great People....Great Service...Especially great cleanliness during the pandemic...you jave to wait in your car til you are called in for your appointment....temperature is taken at the door and you are required to wash your hands before being seated....I'm pleased

My daughter's smile is gorgeous, almost as gorgeous as her! Dr. Russell and his staff are always kind and willing to answer any issues we have. We usually have a very short or no wait at all. I highly recommend Russell Orthodontics!

From the initial visit everything was so professional. Dr Russell was very patient and kind. Every visit after that was easy and quick. The follow ups after my braces were on until my last official visit was extraordinary. If I ever need braces again this will be the only place I go for my orthodontic needs. Give them a call today it is worth every penny!

Dr Russell and his staff have taken excellent care of me. I moved to Mississippi about halfway through my treatment, so I was nervous about finding an orthodontist who would take over in the middle, but they've been nothing but wonderful to me.

Dr Russell did my stepdaughters braces. He did a wonderful job and she has a gorgeous smile. The staff was great. She looked forward to going to her appointments. I would recommend them to anyone.

I was considering braces here. I was ignored by the receptionist when I entered the office. Overheard her tell another patient she could not schedule another appointment because a payment had not been made. The doctor spoke to me like I was a child when I was in there for the consult with my child. Very unprofessional and very expensive. If I have to spend $5800 it will be spent with someone that's nicer and more professional. Going to Dr. Callaway, professional, cheaper, notices patients.
