Dr. Mark Rusk, a Milwaukee Wisconsin native, was accepted to Dental School after 3 years of undergraduate studies in Biology and Chemistry at Marquette University. He earned his DDS from Marquette school of Dentistry in 1985. He moved to and opened his own private practice in the District of Columbia in 1989 and has now been serving the downtown community for over 20 years. Dr. Rusk is a member of the American Dental Association, District of Columbia Dental Society and the Renaissance study club. He has been featured in the Washingtonian as a Top Dentist in the Metropolitan Area.

Dr. Thornton, originally from southeastern VA, completed his undergraduate studies with a major in Biology at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. He earned his DDS from the School of Dentistry at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. Additionally, he completed an AEGD residency program which focused on the treatment of medically compromised and special needs patients at the University of the Pacific in San Francisco, CA.

Dr. Thornton moved to Washington, DC in 2005 and practiced general dentistry at Whitman-Walker Clinic. He transitioned to private practice in 2008 and has become partner at Rusk, Thornton Dental Associates, P.C. Dr. Thornton is a member of the American Dental Association, District of Columbia Dental Society and the Renaissance study club. He values opportunities to participate in continuing dental education and exposure to emerging advances in the field.

Dr. Nathan Van der Linden is the new Dental Associate joining our practice. Coming from Nova Scotia, Canada he completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Dalhousie University. Upon completing his education he returned to his hometown where he practiced dentistry before moving to Washington DC. His enjoyment of working in a hands-on career extends from dentistry into his hobbies of gardening along with designing and building furniture. Dr. Nathan is happy to be finally settling into Washington and to work at such a great office.
