Dr. Julia Springfield Polomski is a board certified pediatric dentist. After spending most of her life in Virginia, she moved to New Jersey where she completed her specialty training in pediatric dentistry and served as chief resident at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine.

I loved my childhood dentist so much, I went to work there after graduating from Roxbury High School! Becoming a dental assistant is profoundly enjoyable for me, which is why Im an instructor at a local dental assisting school. Being able to positively influence my patients, ease their anxieties, and build their trust makes me my happiest.
Im committed to helping our local community. My husband, a school teacher, often speaks about local kids in need of school supplies, so I am proud to collect school supplies with the help of our patients each summer and donate them to Jersey Cares. No child should have to start school without the necessities, and with all our help, we can make a difference. Even the smallest of gestures can help build a childs confidence and start the school year off positively.
I believe in living your best life and enjoying every moment. I find nothing more satisfying than helping others achieve their best smile so that they can live their life to its fullest. I came from a hotel hospitality background and went into dentistry when my first child was born. I now have four kids and if I could have 20, I would! My family is actively involved in helping our community. Our favorite event is to prepare Thanksgiving dinner for multiple families and deliver the meals on Thanksgiving morning. It is so rewarding to have our patients help make this event a success.

I love that I have the same hygienist each time. Marisa is really great. Dr. Hyson and the other hygienists and assistants are very nice and good at their jobs, too.

My 14 month old had a wonderful first time experience. Front desk was pleasant, hygienist was super sweet and same for the dentist. We were in and out real quick and I honestly didn't even see any other patients besides a few leaving and one coming as we were going. Glad I found such a nice place to take my son!

My 13 year old daughter has horrible anxiety when it comes to the dentist. EVERYBODY at Roxbury Smiles makes her feel comfortable and calm. They do such a wonderful job and she enjoys the conversations and how at ease they make her feel. Thank you Roxbury Smiles for all that you do for those that need that calming touch.

The staff here is amazing and so welcoming, especially Karen at the front desk. She has helped me so much, and checked on me throughout the process. I originally went in for a consultation for Invisalign, after deeming I am a candidate I put down my deposit and set up the appointment for them to scan my mouth and get the trays made. The following week I went for a cleaning and found out I needed a root canal and two crowns. I was a little disappointed that Roxbury Ortho didn't check before offering me Invisalign. They did offer to remake all the trays at no cost (which I expected since I just paid a good amount of money for them) Besides that little hiccup, everything has been good. Fast forward, I went in for my root canal with Dr.Hyson and ended up not getting it done that day due to personal reasons. Dr.Hyson ensured that I would not feel any pain during the root canal treatment. After going in for my appointment for the second time, Dr Hyson checked with me every step of the way and ensured I understood each step they were doing. He even asked during the procedure if I needed any breaks. To say this dental office is compassionate is an understatement.

I wasn't going to write a review , but after speaking with the manager about my concerns and being totally brushed off here we go. I took my 23 month old here and the first time I brought her, she didn't cry much so it was smoother. The dentist told me she couldn't fill a cavity that formed from a tooth deformation bc my daughter was still too young and moved around too much. Okay no problem. I bring her yesterday and the dentist comes in, doesn't try to make my daughter comfortable at all before having me put her down on my lap to examine her mouth. I had to tell my daughter to wave hi to her which she did, other than that zero interaction. My daughter was crying and wiggling all over trying to escape , understandably at 23 months. The dentist was very short with me and kept huffing and puffing and making faces that my daughter wasn't sitting still. (Keep I mind I was holding both of her arms) She was annoyed that bc I picked her up right after work and daycare and went straight there (as I'm a full time working mom) that she had food in her teeth. She cleaned a little, put a little bit of fluoride on and said okay we can check again in three months, she moves too much. I was like okay ......I know it was hard to see bc she was moving but did you see anything at all? (She examined for at-least 2-3 minutes) And she then told me her evaluation after I had to ask. Without asking, she was about to walk out. I asked her around what age do MOST kids start to calm down in order to fill the cavity. She gave me a look and went "idk most two year olds are calm and lay down perfectly still for me to examine." My daughter is very social and calms down easily. I feel like if the dentist took five minutes to introduce herself and talk to my child to make her comfortable, it would have been smoother. My child is used to us brushing her teeth 2x a day, sometimes she cries most times she doesn't. It felt very rushed, rude , and impersonal. I called and told all of this to the manager and she goes "sorry, thanks for your feedback" and hangs up How is this an office that specializes in peds is beyond me

Horrible. Didn't fill out consent form for the work they did on my child which was A LOT. I was not fully informed of everything they were doing to my child. I was literally shushed and discouraged from speaking by the awful dental hygienist (don't know her name but she had red hair and a bad attitude). It was like I was not allowed to speak at all. I NEVER want to go back. The place was packed full of people and the dentist was literally running back and forth between my child and another patient. It really makes me wonder if the work that was done was good at all. I don't see how since everything was so rushed. I don't feel comfortable with any of the work they did. Shame on Roxbury pediatric dentists for not allowing me (the parent) time to discuss all options and what exactly they were going to be doing to my child. If you are considering going to this place I highly recommend you look for other options. I really wish I had.

Always a pleasant experience for Our son. They are very patient and the wait is minimal. Arcade games and toys for the usually short wait. Iulia was great and gave great advice. Our son enjoys his visits.

We love this dentist and orthodontist with my kids. They work with me to get all of my kids in at once so there are not long waits. I also love that ortho and the dentists work together so they can remove the wires and do cleanings at the same time. I have 4 kids ranging from 12 to 5 and they all have positive experiences. The staff is always so friendly.
