Dr. John Hyson IV is a fourth generation dentist who spent time at both his fathers and grandfathers dental offices while growing up. Seeing firsthand the memorable bond they each had with their patients, Dr. Hyson knew he wanted the same trusting, long-term relationships with his own patients
After graduating from Towson University (MD) with his BS and MS in microbiology, Dr. Hyson continued his education at University of Maryland School of Dentistry. He then completed a rigorous general pracitice residency program at NYU Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn.During his senior year in dental school, Dr. Hyson was selected for the prestigious Special Care and Geriatrics Clerkship in recognition of his ability to compassionately and expertly provide care to geriatric and special needs patients. He also received a Special Care Award for his continuous care of adults with special needs, which continued into his residency.
When not helping others achieve the smile of their dreams as a dentist in Succasunna, Dr. Hyson enjoys doing charitable work especially by participating in dental missions to provide much needed care to the underprivileged. Once, while on a dental mission to Kibosho, Tanzania, Dr. Hyson checked an item off his bucket list to summit Mt. Kilimanjaro! Dr. Hysons compassion extends as far as his love for rescue animals and says, If I had my way, I would take in all animals in need of a home.
Our team of dedicated assistants, hygienists, and office staff share the collective goal to ensure that your familys dental care is always pleasant, comfortable, and stress-free. All the staff is amazing from the moment you walk in. Staff explain what's happening every step of the way. Making sure the kids are comfortable and relaxed. Great management to always keeping things festive and fun for all seasons.

I absolutely love Roxbury family dentistry!! They make you feel welcome (especially if you are a little nervous). The staff and Dr. Hyson are very professional. They explain the procedure very well and they will explain what they are doing with each step during the procedure. All in all they make you feel very comfortable. Great services. Very friendly staff who greet you and accommodate appointments to your specific needs. They take the time to explain what treatments are needed and explains your insurance coverage. I would highly recommend this place for any dental procedures.

I recently had zoom teeth whitening done. Julie is very professional and explained the entire process and answered all my questions/concerns to my satisfaction. She made sure if I was experiencing any discomfort/sensitivity after every session and kept the zoom intensity accordingly. I am very satisfied with her work.

My children have continued to find great experience with all the dental hygienists at Roxbury Family Dentistry. Since transitioning to Dr. Hyson my children DO NOT find the dentist office overwhelming! The entire staff is kind and welcoming. Dr. Hyson's bio is incredible and you can instantly feel his genuine interest and care for his patients. He always asks my children about school. My daughter particularly comments about his patience to always answer her questions which makes her feel comfortable. Dr. Hyson also referred us to an amazing oral surgeon. We have certainly found an amazing team of people who prioritize human connections. Thanks to all for another great visit experience!

Ava, marisa and Dr hyson were all great, ava made me feel very comfortable during the exam and she explained everything going on very clearly, marisa was very nice and was also easy to talk to and helped out with a big smile, dr hyson very nice and explained everything very clearly.
