Dr. Byron Rowell began practicing dentistry in Grand Rapids in May of 1976. He received his DDS degree from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. His goals for Rowell Family Dentistry have always been to care for patients in a welcoming, comfortable environment, while offering up-to-date, quality dentistry. He has been an active participant in organized dentistry and strives for excellence in all aspects. Dr. Rowell is the past president and vice-president of the Northeastern District Dental Society, the Past President and Program Chair for the Duluth Forum, the Peer Review State Committee Member and Chairperson, is a past member of the Lake Superior Dental Hygiene Board, a member of the Hibbing Dental Assisting Board, a member and Chairperson of the Iron Range Loan Forgiveness Program, a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, past guest of honor of the Northeastern District Dental Society, and was selected to the American College of Dentists. Outside of his professional and volunteer commitments, Dr. Rowell enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, such as golfing, boating, fishing and hunting, as well as downhill skiing and snowmobiling in the winter months. He enjoys family time with his wife, Luann, and with their three daughters, their sons-in-law, and their grandchildren. Debbie graduated from the University of Minnesota, Duluth, in 1976. She has practiced for 40 years in Grand Rapids, and began working for Dr. Rowell in 1991. Expanded functions include training in laser treatment, nitrous administration, and local anesthesia. Debbies interests include travel, cooking, the arts, and all season outdoor activities.
Lonnie attended the School of Dental Hygiene at UMD, graduating in 1992, and began working for Dr. Rowell in the spring of that year. She thoroughly loves working in the office and considers everyone as a second family.
Mary graduated from Hibbing Community College with her dental assisting license in 1978. She began working for Dr. Rowell in 1981. Besides being a receptionist, her other duties include dental assisting, laboratory work, and handling insurance.
Roxanne graduated from UMD with a Dental Hygiene degree in 1993. She is certified in Expanded Duties in nitrous oxide, local anesthesia and laser. Roxanne has been practicing with Rowell Family Dentistry since July of 1993.
Sarah grew up in Grand Rapids, where she graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 2008. Sarah continued her education, graduating from Hibbing Community College as a Licensed Dental Assistant in 2010. Shortly after graduating, she joined our team. Sarah and her husband live on the Iron Range with their children. Sarah enjoys camping, hunting, four-wheeling, and spending time with family and friends.
Tammy was born in Brainerd, MN, and grew up in the Pequot Lakes/Pine River area. She studied Dental Assisting at the Brainerd Vocational School from 1979-1980. Tammy moved to Grand Rapids in August of 1980 and began her career working for Dr. Rowell. She and her husband enjoy ice fishing, football, and spending time with their family.
Kallie was born and raised in Grand Rapids, graduating from Grand Rapids High School in 2001. She obtained her Dental Assisting Diploma from Hibbing Community College in 2004 and returned to the University of Minnesota in 2011 and earned her Restorative Expanded Functions Certificate. This training has allowed Kallie to place quality dental restorations on patients. Kallie is very passionate about dentistry and is very interested in the newest technology. She loves attending continuing education in order to keep up with the latest advances in dentistry.
Laura began her career in the dental field in 2014 with dental assisting and graduated from Lake Superior college in 2018 with her dental hygiene AAS. She has been practicing dental hygiene for 3 years. She enjoys traveling the world with her husband Patrick and summer days enjoying the sunshine.
